37 Fuel Injection problem

Please refer to NHTSA campaign id #98v184000. My car was serviced under the resulting recall; fuel rail assembly was replaced in 1999. Now for the past several days I have smelled gas. Two independent garages stated that the fuel rail is leaking. I went to huffines Chrysler-Plymouth in plano, TX, who said the fuel injector o-rings were leaking and were not covered by the recall. Your online notice about the recall states that both the fuel rail and injector o-rings should be replaced free to vehicle owner. Huffines refused such service. This complaint is not only about safety but about a dealership who gave bad service and misled the customer. Thank you for your attention.

39 Fuel Injection problem

Recall work completed by manufacturer in April of 99. Approximately mid sept. 99 noticed minor gasoline fumes, thought possibly spilling of fuel when refueling vehicle. Oct. 3 starting felling nausea and headaches, thought was the flu. By oct. 10th extremely heavy fumes from vehicle even when not on. Took to manufacturer, and o-rings replaced n/c. Problem is how do I know if this is happening again. I have lost faith in the repair, and am concerned over health of my family with fumes, and possible ignition of gas. How do I know it is really fixed? is there anyway of testing for emission of fumes periodically to ensure that they aren't leaking again. If I take to the manufacturer will they tell me, how bad it really is, or should I go to an independent testing facility? concerned!.

There was a gas odor in the cabin of the vehicle when the air vents were on. This was due to the fuel leakage recall 98v184000 but the vehicle identification number was outside the remedy scope. At 112,000 miles the consumer was able to remove keys from the ignition without the vehicle being in park. This was the same defect as stated in the floor shift ignition switch recall 04v021000 but this vehicle had a column shifter and the vehicle identification number was outside the remedy scope.
