The contact owns a 2002 Dodge Intrepid. While the contact was driving approximately 45 mph, the engine completely stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic for diagnosis. The technician stated there was metal in the oil. The vehicle was inoperable and had not been repaired for the malfunction. The failure mileage was 160,000.

2 Engine Stall problem

Failure Date: 03/05/2008

Impending failure of 2. 7l engine installed in 2002 Dodge Intrepid. According to a mechanic a bearing(s) loses its plating and causes metal flakes to block oil galleries leading to oil starvation and eventual failure of the engine. This could lead to a mva if the failure occurs in traffic. Mine is starting to fail and according to the mechanic this has been a problem with Intrepids.

3 Engine Stall problem

Failure Date: 03/28/2003

The engine stalled without warning.
