Body Problems of Dodge Journey - part 1

I received two safety recalls that my dealer has never fixed. One for the abs system r61/NHTSA 15v-675 and one for the beauty cover r32/NHTSA 15v-431. I was supposed to be contacted when the parts were available and never was. My beauty cover has come off and my abs system randomly turns off. I am not sure who reported that these repairs for the recalls were completed but they were not. I would like them to be completed before my car either catches fire or my abs gives out and I get in an accident.

Was driving car after cleaning it had a box in trunk that barely took a portion of the trunk up. While drive smelt smoke and electrical smell and my trunk was on fire inside. Pulled over and the back hatch inside got so hot from what I can only guess was electrical that the box caught fire. This caused a whole inside back hatch and melted part of my seat and damaged my storage containers.

Reflectors are critical for visibility especially when it is foggy outside. My reflectors made my vehicle less visible to other driver because he backed his trailer into my car not seeing my lights or me and directly caused or perhaps contributed to the accident. I seek compensation due to the product liability. Manufactures must be held responsible for defective vehicles parts, which caused it a prone to failure, manufacturing defects and failure to warn in a timely matter which could have prevented my accident. I would like to file a claim with Dodge stellantis for compensation and for my personal injuries. I would like the repairs costs for the front driver side because my deductible is 1,000.

Wind (40+ mph) caught the door while I was opening it. The spring that holds it open and stops it in a certain position broke. The tack welds on the spring snapped and threw the spring into the car. The dealer service department is closed today, and the insurance is going to be contacted on Monday.

Windows are not working.

The liftgate just stops opening. No emergency bypass will release it. It raises risk on entrapment. The repair shops are unsure why it is happening.

Water leak on driver side into the passenger seat in the storage bin. The seal is not installed properly and causes a leak.

The battery fuse keeps blowing out truck won't stop running internal electrical systems killing battery popping fuses,ac thermostat system after being turned off keeps turning itself back on over and over won't stay off ,after replacing battery in remote truck driver side door fails to open or unlock only passenger side works,truck won't acknowledge fully new battery in remote to start truck ,locks me out of truck and doesn't honk to tell me keys are inside anymore ,cruise control will not cancel , transmission pump fails causing stalling in gear not shifting gears properly jumping out of gear. Engine won't turn over after electrical systems drain overnight parked one day. Radio station turns channels by itself without touching anything. Driving.

We were hit on our entire passenger side by an out of control driver, the side or front airbag did not deploy, my wifes hand was broke and my sons head bounced off the back passenger window.

While driving on the express way I changed lanes and suddenly the car jerked and started going faster, the check engine light started beeping , I put my foot on the brake but the car did'nt slow down fast enough, soon as I looked up I crashed on my driver side, no air bags came out. . . I drove the car hm, the sensor started beeping low key battery. . I changed out the key battery and two days later the car start saying no key detected, I then called a locksmith, they had me buy a new key fob to reprogram. . It didn't work, there is something very much electrical going on with this vehicle.

The vehicle has not been repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000. Lj.

After a heavy rain and subsequent rains, there was a heavy leak down the interior wall between the front seat and the back seat, flooding under the front seat, driver-side front seat, and driver-side back seat floor under the carpet. Each time this happened, the car was parked in the driveway with the windows up. Also, since then, the door locks have started to lock and unlock several times on their own after I've locked the vehicle and walked away from it. The leak seems to be in the roof seam in the driver side, which seems to be faulty. I took the car back to the dealer, they needed money up-front to try to figure out the problem, which I refuse to pay because I believe it is a manufacturer defect. I contacted Dodge three times, they said since the car is out of warranty it is my responsibility even though it is a defect.

I had an accident this passed July 4, 2020 where I had no brakes. That experience will never be forgotten (pstd). I traveled that day 110 mile on the freeway and reached my destination stopped to check address, then turned slowly into a driveway. My friends pulled their car up so I can park behind. I pulled in pressed on brakes and realized there were no brakes when my foot went all the way to the floor and car started accelerating. My friends drive is on a decline. Very hilling area in harrison mi. I starting praying asking god to not hit their car, then not hit their houses and I saw bushes thinking they would stop me. But to no avail the car drove through them just missing a telephone pole. My car headed back to the street going towards the house across the street. I am still pumping the brakes. So I turned to my left and went thru a wooded fence hit a stone stump and went sailing (according to the neighbor of the house) four feet into the air and came crashing down on a tree. In my mind I was thinking this tree will stop my car praying not ending my life. The car hit the tree and landed on the ground proceeding to the street again. I am now driving down Dodge hwy with oncoming traffic on the wrong side of highway. I put the car in park but the car still did not stop. A street was coming up on the left side and I turned to get out of traffic and this street was going uphill and the car stopped. The car has been with dealership since July 6,2020 and 5 weeks later on August 17, I received a letter from fca stating "we are not led to believe that the incident was due to a manufacturing responsibility. ".

My vehicle was in motion on a city street when suddenly my steering wheel locked and brake were hard to push causing me to side swipe a parked car.

The contact stated they were unable to reattach the headrest. Breaks aren't working shop told me about the recall and said there's no air in the lines and no leaking lines tested the master cylinder and no issues but my breaks are still not fully engaging. Trunk doesn't open I've brought it to 4 shops as well as a Dodge dealership and non have been able to get the latch to disingage.

Head on collision at a traffic light. I was making a left turn it was raining and the other car was going straight . He took the light on red and we both hit head on . I hit my head on the steering wheel and side window . Air bag did not deploy hit my head pretty bad and my back and neck were in pain had to take off work and lost my only car and job . Went to therapy for a while my concern was why didn't the air bags deploy . The other cars air bags deployed. I had an eye witness and police report but I still loss the battle . Still paying for a car that doesn't work. Pls if u can help me resolve this it will be a big help. I still fill pain in my neck from the accident. I don't want to take legal actions I just want what is right . Thank you.

In cold weather (30 degree and lower) the rear driver side door will not latch closed after being opened. This has happened for the past 2 years. I found a youtube fix by pulling the car handle up and using a screwdriver to push the latch either up or down then closing the door. However today it happened several times in one day then the door opened (unlatched) while I was driving at a slow speed while the door was unlocked.

I was in a wreck on oct 2 2019 where the fount end of my car was ripped off and and severely damaged my airbags never deployed causing me to hit my door and window as well as slamming me into my dash causing injuries this wreck happened as I was crossing a intersection on a city street going about 15mph when another car hit me going very fast with extreme force.

Driving alone a city street and pulled into a shop and the car had a cloud of smoke, as I was parking, then noticed fluid running from underneath. I didn't know what had happen. A refund for repairs on this vehicle would help. And effort to someone letting me know why this happened , is the question.

From day 1: car doesn't accelerate properly; doesn't go as it should when one pulls into traffic. Very scary! the �extra gears� only make the motor sound like it's going to explode, & doesn't make car move any faster/easier. I am an experienced driver with a perfect driving record; it's not the driver! second issue: the hood keeps popping up, and I fear it will eventually fly all the way up. These issues are life threatening. 3rd issue: it certainly doesn't get the gas mileage that it should, getting 16-18. Please help! as a cancer patient, I depend on this car to get to many dr visits. Tact recall we were t-bone by range rover, whose airbags did deploy, ours did not. We were traveling at 20-30 miles per hour the other car was traveling about 40-45 miles per hour. The impact was the complete front end of our car more impact on the passenger's side; the passenger seat was broken. . Neither air bags located in the car deployed. Our car was declared a total loss $12,500. 00 worth of damage.

I was hit from behind while stopped at a red light by a drunk driver who was going 30-40mph and my car is very damaged. My main concern was my airbags didn't deploy. I was hit from behind slammed into the steerwheel and hit the truck in from of me and still no airbags deployed.

Everytime it rains the car floods on either the passenger side or driver side. This is caused electrical malfunctions and lights to flicker. May lead to early corrosion and frame instability.

The vehicle was in a car accident. My daughter was sitting behind me. Which I was the driver and she was behind me on the left rear. My daughter had the seat belt on and so did I. My concern is why did my daughter ended up going all the way forward hitting me from behind with her knees that the next day my behind was hurting g. Will my daughter on the mean time during the accident her head hurtled, nose, and upper and lower back. It seems the seat belt did not lock as soon as the impact because if it had. My daughter would not had gotten a bump on her nose that hurtled which it means she ended hitting my seat where you rest your head. Two her knees hurted when she went forward to my seat and hit me. Three, it made her head too much forward and backward that she got a huge bump on the head and the entire back hurted. For me my head hurted, shoulders and but. But for me the seat belt I felt it lock instantly. This impact was from behind while I was waiting for the light to turn green. The accident was hurtful but not to server of a total lost on my end. My daughter did go to the hospital. This is why it concerns me.

I was in park waiting for a spot to open up in a school parking lot, took my vehicle out of park and proceeded to put in drive and move 20 feet or so to the parking spot, as I was turning into the spot I engaged the brake to come to a complete stop but my pedal did not work, it did not spring back like it is suppose to and my vehicle did not stop and a concrete parking pillar stopped my vehicle for me. I threw it into park and jumped out because smoke was pouring from my hood to see the damage and when I jumped back in to the car to shut it off I realized my car wasn't running and all the lights came across the dash. I restarted the car and the brake pedal pumped like nothing was wrong. $6,000. 00 worth of damage later and still being worked on and no answers to why my brakes failed me.

On may 15, 2018, approximately 10 minutes after I cranked my vehicle and left for work my vehicle caught on fire. I was approaching a 4way stop in gaylesville al 35973 at intersection of highway 35 and highway 68. Luckily there was a truck stopped in front of me and the driver jumped out telling me vehicle was on fire. Before I ever got out of vehicle flames were shooting out from under the hood. The engine cover caught on fire and totaled out the vehicle it burnt the engine all the wiring the hood and front axles.

I just became aware that a recall was made for my vehicle, a 2017 Dodge Journey. Last year I had an accident in norristown, PA after my car failed to stop or slow down while attempting to turn left with cruise control activated on a city street. My vehicle went up a hill, over a couple of fences, before stopping against a tree. A few inches further right and my 17 year old daughter might have been badly hurt or killed. My car had body damage, the bumper torn off, the passenger doors damaged, the radiator and ac damaged (ac still doesn't work), and I needed to have the condenser replaced. I knew the car had malfunctioned, but never received any calls or letters about any recalls despite buying the car brand new.

Water gets in the rear doors during rain storms when opening and closing both back doors you can hear water between the door and the door panel only the rear doors are affected.

Sometimes doors can not be unlocked with the remote neither with the lock-unlock button. The problem is more often with the passengers and rear (5th) door. The driver's door does not fail. Passengers can not open the doors to enter or leave the vehicle. This could be dangerous in case of an emergency.

I am not sure if this warrants a complaint but when I wreaked my vehicle my airbags did not deploy. I was traveling about 50mph on a main road it was night time and had started to rain and I hit a cow that was standing in the middle of the road. There was about $8000 dollars worth of damage to my vehicle. I am just curious as to why airbags didn't deploy. Should they have?.
