I was driving down the street and the car stopped going I let it sit for awhile and it went a little then stopped I had to tow it to a transmission shop and they said that water got into transmission because of the way the water flows from the radiator to trans to cool it. Transmission fluid was mixed in water and water in transmission so I had to replace both and clean entire system out. I also am having problems with my headlights staying on at night they keep going on and off while I am driving I see this too is an ongoing problem and a safety issue.
After filling up at a gas station, I drove the car approximately 1/2 mile and the car stopped at a traffic light. This has happened to me probably a dozen times since March of this year. It does not happen after every fill up, probably every 4 times it happens.
I have had at least 3 of the issues of the complaints I am seeing here and wondering why there has been no recalls issued: 1) car would not accelerate or it would die after filling up the gas tank. Went on line and found others having similar problem. Fix: do not fill your gas tank up all the way and also do not let it get too close to empty. 2) neither the back hatch or the hood will stay up on their own. Have been hit in the head with the back hatch numerous times - sometimes it works. 3) could not get car out of park. Again went on line and even found a youtube video explaning how to remove the pink thingy from the gear counsel and all will be ok. Saved hundreds of dollars but now no safety due to the fact that car can be turned off in all gears.
After starting my car, I attempted (without success) to shift out of park. The transmission shift interlock lever (as Chrysler calls it) had broken and locked the shifter in park. I fortunately had tools in the back and was able to disassemble the center console and get the car moving again. I was told by friends that Chrysler had issued a recall for this problem, and was forwarded a copy of Chrysler's customer satisfaction notification k39, which describes exactly what had happened to me. I took the car to the dealer for repair, and was told my car was not covered under the recall. I am still trying to get Chrysler to cover the repairs, as it is a seemingly very common issue with the lx platform.

My car is stuck in park and it appears it will be the same problem as many other folks. The geico customer service person even said many cars were being recalled because of this plastic piece that was being changed to metal. Apparently, many are breaking down! I will never by another Dodge.
Car will not shift out of park. When you depress the break pedal, there is a spring attached to a clip that moves in order for you to be able to shift out of park. The clip usually breaks (about 50-60k miles) and then you cannot shift out of park. You have to manually press a button at the front of the shift box in order to be able to shift out of park. This is a common occurrence on Chrysler and Dodge cars. I also have a 2008 Chrysler pacifica and the same happened. This is a very common occurrence. This should be a recall. It affects various Chrysler/ Dodge cars different years.
The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Magnum. The contact stated after several attempts the gear selector would not shift from the park position into drive. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where the gear shift box was currently being replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 83,000.
If I fill my tank and I drive it away from the pump, it will stutter, hesitate, jerk, then die. I lose all power steering, breaks, engine. Afterwards, it won't immediately restart. It will start again after a few minutes. It won't start driving good again until I run the gas level down a little. After I fill, it will run ok until I make a turn or come to a stop, something that will slosh the fuel in the tank again then it will act like it is starved for fuel. This happens everytime I fill my tank. If I don't fill it completely then it will do it. It never did this when I first bought my car. One time after I this happened, I opened the gas cap and it was hissing and spitting gas just sitting there. This is a very dangerous situation as if this happened on the highway I could become involved in a collision. It has happened at least a half dozen time and have since not filled my tank up until today and it happened again.
2005 Dodge Magnum the electronic shifter will not come out of park into reverse at various times. This defect is widely known throughout the automotive community and should be recalled as it affects many vehicles.
Every time you fill car with gas it stalls you have to burn off gas before you can drive.
Shift interlock system the factory lock out mechanism is known weakness of 2005 to 2007 transmissions on Dodge and Chrysler cars the most common symptom of this factory failure is the vehicle not being able to get out of park when you engage your transmission. Due to a plastic part a. K. A. (pink little clip) and a $0. 50 spring the guy from the tow truck company told me that he tows at least 1 or 2 cars with this problem every day. The dealer told me that the only way to fix this is to replace the gear shifter. . . $450 I bought he extended guarantee from Dodge to cover my car for 5 years or $100,000 miles but of course that part is not covered and even if it was still under warranty, I will get another shifter that will eventually fail due to poor engineering looks to me like it should have been a recall by now.
Car stuck in park. Shifter will not move out of park.
There is a obvious defective part regarding the shift assembly on Dodge Magnums,Chrysler 300's & Dodge chargers. A plastic gearpiece on the shift assembly is known by service advisors at Dodge & tow truck operators that bring in several cars to Dodge dealerships with the same problem. The issue is once this flimsy piece of plastic is broken, it prevents the vehicle from shifting into any gear. The repair to fix this known issue is about $500. 00 dollars at a Dodge dealership. Something needs to be done to make Dodge be responsible for its vehicles.
The shift lever will not move front park. I have to leave my vehicle in neutral, and apply the parking brake. I found out there was a recall, I went to the dealer and they informed me my vehicle VIN number is not included in the recall. I have dealt with this problem for years. I hope you can assist me in getting this problem resolved. . The date that I put in when the problem occurred is estimated. It's been so long I don't remember when it started.
The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Magnum. The contact stated that the gear shift would periodically get stuck. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, but they were unable to duplicate the failure. The contact felt that this was a manufacturer’s defect. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 17,600. The VIN was not available.
The car stalls on turns. This has happened several times over the course of a month. Found out on June 12, 2008 that Dodge has a "service bulletin" out to update the computer to stop the car from stalling! when were they going to tell the customers after we have an accident! I am just lucky that I haven't been hit from this stalling problem. This is the 4 recall of something on this car and I am very sorry that I ever bought this Dodge Magnum.

Crowhopping is the term used by most websites google crowhopping Magnum rt awd tells it all on multiple websites with multiple customers. . Dodge has seem to term a blind ear to this year model that seems to have the same as another year with the issue. Contacted dealer main office. . . And they said they never heard of this no surprise.
The consumer has a new Dodge Magnum with less than 2,000 miles on it and the tires are showing tread wear. Specifically the front two tires on the outer edge. The consumer had taken the vehicle to the dealer in which they realigned and rotated the tires from side to side. On the work order the dealer stated that the alignment was not one hundred percent. (11/16/05) the vehicle pulled to the right and there was a chatter when driving from reverse.
