1 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 11/22/2019

I have owned this 2006 Dodge Magnum se v6 2. 7l from new, bought in April 2006, the problem I'm having is with the car stalling, without any notice, happening today when turning left at a stop light and starting uphill. I was able to restart the car after pulling to the right without power, coming to a stop, putting the car in park, and restarting. I made it back home, but the car has been cranking over and not starting when in my garage, this after filling up with gas. I've had this issue happen before from 2006 onward to today, only a few times a year, and changed out the fuel pump relay each time and thought that was the problem, but the car has never stalled while driving before now, only when sitting at a light or stop sign after filling up the tank. The car only has 73,000 miles now after 13 years, I always baby the car and it still looks new. Thanks for any help with this matter.

2 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 03/16/2018

Car stalls randomly when fuel tank is full or after fill up. May stall without warning when in motion or stationary. This is a known issue with this model and similar models. Cause is a faulty fuel tank.

3 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 02/06/2018

The car stalls soon after refilling the fuel tank, the filling was stopped when the pump automatically shuts off. This is a safety concern because it has happened while driving straight on a street, and also while turning onto a highway. The car becomes difficult to maneuver due to the loss of power assist provided to the steering and brakes by the engine. This appears to be caused by a lack of fuel to the engine. The car has restarted, so far, after a few seconds sitting still in the traffic.

4 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 12/02/2017

Hello, in the last 6 months, every time I put gas in, whether I fill it up or not, weather I top it off or not, the engine will run erratically, often stalling multiple times for no reason. It has stalled on the highway, at highway speed, at any other speeds, and going through turns, needless to say, with no engine I have no power steering. I have the strength to keep the car under control, but a less experienced or less strong driver may loose control, possibly with serious consequences. After the car sits for a few hours, it will usually run ok. Thank you for your attention in this matter.

5 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/26/2017

After filling up gas car stalls out while driving, will start back up but shuts down again. Going up hill car stalls and shuts off I have to hit the gas pedal to keep it running.

9 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2015

I have been having some problems with my 2006 Dodge Magnum rt for the past year: 1. Car stall at a stop light or stop sign (engine would start again) 2. Car will lose power (hesitate for about 2-3 seconds and it would chime) 3. Engine died on the freeway and had to pull over (very dangerous) Dodge replace the gas tank 2 times and still not repaired. The Dodge dealer in elk grove CA charged me $140 and I according to the recall it should be waived. There are a lot of people having the same issues and someone should look into this because it is very dangerous.

12 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 12/19/2014

After refueling my 2006 Dodge Magnum stalled repeatedly. Restarting the car was very difficult. Most of the stalling episodes occurred when the car was at a standstill or moving at 5 mph or less. It also stumbled badly when driving at approximately 50 mph. One of he stalling episodes left me stranded for a short while in a busy intersection causing a traffic jam and creating a very dangerous situation.

13 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2014

While driving vehicle car will stall and only give about 5percent power. It can happen anytime has happened multiple times. Dealer had vehicle for a month and cannot determine the issues. I was almost hit by moving vehicles multiple times.

14 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 03/12/2014

Sitting idle at light cad died. Restarted and drove approximately 1 mile and card died again after coming to stop. Restarted and drove into a parking lot and car died again when trying to pull into parking stall. Restarted and then turned vehicle off to wait for help. Vehicle has very low miles (50k +) and has always been dependable until now. Drove vehicle to local mechanic (because dealership about 25 minutes away and was concerned about dependability). Mechanic connected to computer and performed two road tests but could not duplicate problem. Have called Dodge and local dealership and they are unwilling to help.

16 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2014

17 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 01/20/2014

Time: after a fuel refill earlier in the day (always ask gas station attendant to -not- top off the tank and usually provide an exact number of gallons to make sure the gauge will read just under full after the gas refill) event: car stalled while being driven at about 25mph this is a safety issue as the car will stall at just about anytime (on the highway, making a turn, driving along suburban roads). At this time the only solution I have been able to implement is to rev the engine significantly fast after the refuel and/or drive in 1st or 2nd gear (by downshifting via the transmission gear shifter) for at least 10minutes of driving time. It has now been 6 months since the last activity on the current NHTSA pe13-016 investigation (last activity referred to on the website was August of 2013). This is a safety issue and a recall is clearly needed to address this safety issue. Can someone at NHTSA please post an update on the investigation?.

18 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2014

While waiting at a traffic stop the vehicle stalled. Cranked it twice and got it started. On the next light it stalled again when slowing. The gas was at 3/4 full. Next time, my wife and kids were on the freeway when the car stalled when slowing to stop at an exit. Deemed unsafe but realized the it happened after gas was filled or closer to full. Happened a couple more times with the last being on 3/5/14.

19 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 12/14/2013

Stalled while traveling 65mph, then refired several times. Leaving from a stoplight the Magnum died in the middle of two intersecting highways, restarted, then died again. Issues started shortly after re-fueling with a full tank. Now, after a month, the stalling occurs as low as 1/4 of a tank of fuel. Will run fine for a couple days, then with no warning, stalling comes back and is currently on-going.

20 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2013

I ran out of fuel on my way to gas station. Called aaa, they brought me 1 gal of gas. Car started fine and drove to gas station (4 miles) with no problems. After filling tank car stalled repeatedly while driving on street (5 or 6 times on way home, maybe 5 miles). Problem occurred several times for the next week. Never had this happen before. Since this time everytime I fill the gas tank the problem re-appears and car stalls while driving or at stop light. Problem persists for a week or so. Also, when the car stalls and the engine is re-started the transmission won't engage for 10 to 15 seconds after shifting into drive. This problem seems to occur the most right after I fill up and gradually dissappears as fuel level gets lower. After a week or so the car runs fine, no stalling. The car is not driven daily so it takes a while to burn some of the gas out. I've probably filled the tank 4 times since original onset of problem. I am the original owner of this vehicle.

21 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2013

Vehicle stalled two times after filling gas tank. Difficult to restart--had to try 3-4 times to get the car to restart. Each stalling incident occurred as I came to a stop.

22 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2013

24 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 06/21/2013

The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Magnum. The contact stated while driving approximately 15 mph the vehicle stall without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and it was taken to a dealer. The mechanic could not diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

25 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2013

After fuelling car drive a few miles car stalls turns on then drive and stalls again.

26 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 01/26/2013

After refueling vehicle to a full tank of gas, the vehicle will stall when driving. In some cases multiple times. There is no warning prior to the stall and the timing of the incident seems random - sometimes right away after fill-up, sometimes a few miles down the road. Only occurs at full tank condition but does occur every time the tank is filled. When the vehicle stalls it is difficult to start back up - power steering and power brakes are lost during this time. Once the vehicle has traveled 10-15 miles the problem seems to go away - until filling the gas tank again. It seems like an emissions systems type of problem - maybe part of the fuel tank venting system. There are other reports of this problem with similar type of vehicles (Chrysler 300, Dodge charger) on the internet.

27 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 12/03/2012

Vehicle stalled shortly after refueling when beginning to accelerate after having been stopped at intersection. This problem continued to occur regularly after refueling. It occurred both when the vehicle is stopped and also while in motion. Restarting the vehicle was sometimes difficult. Once restarted the vehicle frequently surged while driving for several minutes of operation until returning to normal. This problem and its associated symptoms should be considered as a safety risk. As of April 2013, I no longer own this vehicle. My wife presently experiences this problem with her 2006 Dodge Magnum srt-8 with the 6. 1l engine. She has also filed a vehicle safety complaint.

28 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2012

The car stalls, shuts off while driving. Had both of the top 02 snsor replaced. A repair told me my oil pressure sensor was bad got that replaced. Call the service center and tell them the problem and they said my computer needed to be reset. That didn't work.

29 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2012

The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Magnum. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the vehicle stalled and could not be restarted immediately. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis but the failure could not be replicated. The failure recurred numerous times over the course of eight months. The vehicle was taken to three different dealers but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The manufacturer was notified and offered the contact eight oil changes at their expense. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 111,000 and the current mileage was 127,000.

30 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/07/2012

Immediately after filling gas tank with new fuel the following has happened several times: the car will start at the gas station but shortly after leaving the gas station (within a block or when getting back onto the highway from a rest stop) the car will stall. The stall can happen at a traffic light or even on the way to reaching highway speeds. At this time my solution to the problem has been to rev the engine in neutral for a bit after getting the gas tank filled with fresh gasoline.

31 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/04/2012

Whenever I fill my gas tank, the vehicle will stall within one or two blocks from gas pumps. It can happen at 20 miles an hour or less. It can happen entering a highway at 50 miles per hour. The car will start right up and will normally run fine after stalling. On one or two occasions it stalled twice after a fill up. Lately it happens after each fill up regardless of gas station or brand of gas.

32 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2012

The Magnum continually stalls after fill up. We have made a concerted effort not to over fill the vehicle, but it continues to stall for a few miles after fill up. This has been an ongoing issue for almost 20,000 miles now. This is a major safety issue. Either my wife or I have almost been rear-ended due to stalling in traffic. The dealer says they can fix it for around $1400. This should be a safety recall, not something dumped on the owner. When you go to all the mopar blogs, this issue is common on all 06 - 07 chargers, Magnums and Chrysler 300s. They know it's the check valve, and know it was a poor design, but too bad consumer.

33 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2012

The car stalls at stop lights mostly but has recently stared stalling on the freeway.

34 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
