On 07/06/2018 started engine, within 30 seconds car shut off . As if I turned off the key. Restarted car and shifted to reverse to back out of drive, stalled. Started car ,put car in reverse transmission would not ingage 15 to 20 seconds later car went into gear and stalled 4 times before car would move without stalling. Two tenths of a mile car stalled pulling out on main road. Car started would not move waited for transmission to engage as traffic is is starting to line up. Mile later car stalls again everthing off start car and wait for transmission to go into gear. This happens ever day for the pass 2 months Dodge dealer said my coils were bad had them changed next day same problem. Car now sits till something is done. Dont feel safe driving on road. This happens moving and stationary.
The car seems to be running fine one minute when I come up to the traffic light while it is in gear the engine shuts off the next problem is driving down the road the lights go off and on sometimes don't come back on for two or three minutes very annoying when you're driving at night with no headlights an oncoming traffic.
Vehicle began to just shut off when not in motion. Took the car to auto shop to be repaired. After spending more money than expected to fix what the mechanic thought was the problem, we still were having the same issue. Finally, wte received a recall notice on the gas tank. After waiting months for Chrysler to send the dealership a gas tank for our car, we finally brought the vehicle in to be repaired. Changed out the gas tank , dealership kept the car a few days to test it out, called us to pick up the car. On the way home, the vehicle kept killing. Took it back to the dealership and they they kept the car for almost two months trying to figure out the problem, but they were unsuccessful in diagnosing the problem. As of today the car is still shumtting off and nobody can figure out the problem. The car only has 45000 miles.
Engine stalls while driving, also stalls while car is not moving, whether in park, reverse, or drive the car shuts down and sometimes starts up immediately and sometimes it doesn't, if car is moving at speeds above 30 and the stall happens it will kick right back up on it's own.
My Dodge Magnum for the last year " total of 4 times" has stalled only after refueling along with the steering wheel locking. There is no warning !. No engine light. ! the car just shuts down . But this last time it almost caused a accident. Too close to a disaster. I had my child in the car . I have read the complaints on this site. And I know I am not the only one this happens to. Why is this not being addressed !!! I have never had this happen to me with any other car I have owned. I baby my car with servicing . I have 134,282 miles. I haven't had a issue with the car ever. Until now. I believe it's a faulty part. This is a life threatening issue. As well as the psychical stress not knowing when my car fails me. Why is this not a recall with the Dodge Magnum fuel system? which causes a vapor lock without warning. Does someone have to loose a life to get this addressed ?.
The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Magnum. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle began misfiring just days after it was repaired. When the contact attempts to accelerate, the vehicle hesitates and the engine shuts off. The mechanic stated that the power is unevenly distributed in the engine, which caused the engine coils to burn. The dealer replaced the burned engine coils at the cost of $400, however, they were unable to diagnose the loss of fire. The dealer also performed a diagnostic on the vehicle, but less than a week later, the failure recurred. The vehicle stalled on four occasions and is currently unable to be driven. The engine indicator light illuminated. The Dodge manufacturer stated that there were no recalls and were unable to provide assistance. The vehicle was repaired on August 27, 2007 and the failure recurred on August 28, 2007. The contact is aware of the safety risk involved. The powertrain was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 48,000.
