1 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 02/13/2021

Here we are 15 months later and only 2,330 miles from my last complaint about my 2006 Dodge Magnum stalling after a fuel fill up or when turning left, it happened yet again today, I know there is a current fuel tank recall for 2005 - 2006 Dodge charger, Magnum & Chrysler 300's with the v8 5. 7l & 6. 1l, yet nothing for the v6 2. 7l & 3. 5l, why? they all use the same exact gas tank, which have been proven to be defective, I;m the original owner of this car and it still only have 76,233 miles, so it should be covered but is not, please expand this recall x53 to cover all Magnums and chargers and Chrysler 300s. . . . We v6 owners should also have a voice in our own safety and recalls when our cars all use the same gas tanks.

3 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 07/26/2019

The vehicle stalls multiple times after a fuel fill up. It's very dangerous because it will stall even while driving in traffic. It could cause an accident if other vehicles don't realize my vehicle has stalled. Up to this point I have thankfully not been the cause of an accident. I try to never fill the tank due to this problem. It usually stops once I have driven a few miles and if I open the fuel door to release the built up vapors.

6 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 04/06/2019

I purchased a 2006 Dodge Magnum last week on 4/4/2019 odometer reading at 109, 545. 2 days after I purchased the car it needed fuel and I filled the gas tank. I then left the gas station. Within less than a mile the engine stalled as if it were trying to shut off. This happened 4 times within 1 minute and less than a mile from the gas station. Since I was merging onto a highway, I could not just pull over. I continued off the merge and into the highway. Then it stopped. With hesitation I continued down the highway. About 20 miles down the highway later and driving at the speed limit of 70 mph, I accelerated on the gas pedal to go up a small hill and maintain the speed limit of 70 mph. The car again tries to stall out and shut off and it continued to do this 3 more times. I had to drive yet another 50 miles to make it home and I was very uneasy the whole time. I did make it home without any additional insidents. The incident was very unsettling. I dread what happens the next time I put gas in it as this seemed to be the trigger of the incident. I went home to research the issue and sure enough this a common complaint among Dodge Magnum owners. Apparently there had been a recall for an issue with the gas tank. My VIN does not show up or qualify for the recall but is indeed having this shared problem. I feel it is a major safety issue for anyone on the highway. Causing serious injury and or death to myself, my passengers and any other drivers on the road. This issue needs to be resolved and addressed! especially after finding there are so many other 2006 Dodge Magnum owners having the same problem! to replace the gas tank by a certified Dodge mechanic it will cost about $2,000 in parts and labor. How do I get help with this recall issue even though the VIN on my car is not showing it is eligible or included in the recall??.

8 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 06/15/2018

On several occasions, I have filled the fuel tank and when attempting to leave, the engine has stalled, sometimes in the parking lot of the gas station, other times attempting to stall but not cutting off, while driving on the road. I have been able to start the car when it has cut off in the parking lot, and if it stalled while driving, I have been able to keep it running by "feathering" the accelerator until it starts to run normally. I have read similar complaints about other owners with similar vehicles to mine, each having the 6. 1l hemi engine or the 5. 7 hemi. It appears that I may have the same problem, where the fuel shut-off float fails to perform properly. I read that the NHTSA pe13016 was issued that relates to this problem. I cannot provide a specific date since I no longer fill the tank. (note that I haven't had the problem unless I have filled the tank. Months ago, I was able to fill the tank without experiencing the problem, but that was a while back. (I estimated the latest date in order to complete this form. ).

9 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 03/16/2018

Car stalls randomly when fuel tank is full or after fill up. May stall without warning when in motion or stationary. This is a known issue with this model and similar models. Cause is a faulty fuel tank.

10 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 09/01/2017

Filled fuel tank up as usual then started the car and immediately the car stalled. I restarted it and it stalled again. Started car again while pressing the gas pedal and it drove a few seconds then a super hard misfire and it cut off again. Finally starts and idles terribly. . . Runs terribly for about 10 miles then it seems to balance itself out. It's been happening consistently for the last few years and almost caused someone to rear end me a few times. I hear there's a recall or lifetime warranty on the fuel tank but no notice was ever sent to me.

13 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 12/03/2015

Chrysler is very aware of their fuel tank lifetime warranty for past two years. My vehicle has been sitting in dealership for 10 weeks due to stalling after getting gas in an oncoming intersection. They are not sending the parts and keep giving us the run around. They keep giving us a case manger number that never answers. I guess we are to drive into incoming traffic again and hope for the best. I think its time that this becomes a mandatory recall rather sending out false letters that the problem will be fixed. I am sure we are not the only ones getting the run around or have been almost hit because our cars will not go.

16 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 09/11/2015

I believe my cars has a problem with the gas tank. On Friday September 11 2015, we drove the car and it had gas at the time, suddenly the car just turned off on the street. On my gas meter or gage is always reading it on empty when it has fuel. It's also smelling like gasoline now. We bought the car from a used car dealer and it's still being financed. How can I know if it's a manufacture problem, I did some research and it happened to say that this gas problem happens to the Dodge Magnum 2005-2006, if it's a manufacture problem do I call the Dodge dealer and will it be fixed by them. I have two children, I can't drive a vehicle that is not safe. What options do I have. The vehicle also has an air bag recall, which the dealer has not fixed because they don't have the parts it's been over 3 weeks since we received the safety recall notice by mail.

19 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 02/20/2015

I have been having issues with my car just dying while I am driving. It has now happened 4xs. When I went online to research this I came across an extended warranty program from Chrysler which stated this issue was with the gas tank and cars were receiving replacement gas tanks. I called their corporate offices to inquire and was told my VIN was not included. How can a car be excluded when it displays this issue? I am scared to drive. It happened to me on the freeway, in a u-turn, once at a stop light and once just driving down the street.

20 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 01/13/2015

Had filled up gas tank, upon pulling out experienced engine hesitation and lack of power. A few minutes later while passing though a major intersection with 3 children in car, vehicle stalled, causing loss of power steering and of course any means of propulsion. The vehicle started again but stalled three more times before returning home. This is an extremely hazardous situation which can endanger lives in a high speed and high traffic situation.

21 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 11/27/2014

Second incident: November 27, 2014 driving to van nuys, CA from simi valley, CA at approx. 5:30 pm, filled up gas tank and proceeded down street towards freeway onramp, car stalled 3 times before getting on freeway. This is the second incident (happened two weeks prior, also following fuel fill-up). First incident (two weeks prior to second incident): filled up tank in porter ranch, CA, headed to van nuys, CA. . . Drove on freeway ok, exited freeway at roscoe blvd and turned left. Car stalled in the middle of left hand turn. Extremely dangerous and life threatening if car stalls in the middle of a left hand turn as oncoming traffic approaches.

22 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 11/15/2014

Purchased a used 2005 Dodge Magnum rt 5. 7 (as is no warranty )on 11/15/14. On the drive home from the dealer, filled the car with fuel and the engine was hard to start and after it started ran for a short time and stalled. After several start stall cycles near the gas station got the car on the interstate and it lost power at speed and ran rough for short periods but did not stall. After aprox. 10 minutes of highway speed the car ran fine. Two weeks later after fill up had the same stalling issues. Having read these cars have history of these issues, I attempted to lower the fuel level by driving the car. The car started and about a 1/2 mile from the house stalled in a busy intersection. Unable to restart the car, had to get towed home. The car started right up when it came off the tow truck. Siphoned 5 gal from fuel tank & can't duplicate failure. No error indications during failures.

23 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 11/07/2014

Filled up gastank went 5or6 miles car stalled would restart then stall with in a mile ran fine above 30mph cleared up after15-20 miles I understand there is a issue with this just purchased this auto on 11/7 2014.

24 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 10/30/2014

After fueling car to near the full mark I was attempting to enter the traffic flow on interstate 75 at ocala. The car lost power and the engine died ( no power brakes or steering) attempted to restart car in neutral while attempting to maintain control of car. Traffic was running 70mph and I was merging into the traffic flow. The car would not restart acting as if flooded. Luckily I was driving and not my wife who has musclar dystrophy as she would not have been able to control the car. My research indicates the problem is known by Dodge and is related to a purge vent valve in the fuel tank. It seems the velvet sticks open and allows gas , not just the fumes to be recirculated to the throttle body (intake) and floods the engine. Dodge states this problem can affect all Dodge charger, Magnum and 300 modle cars. It requires a fuel tank replacement as the purge valve is incorporated into the tank itself.

25 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 10/12/2014

I stopped to get fuel and started off on my trip I went to get on the freeway and the car stalled when trying to merge into traffic. Had to Dodge a few cars and coasted to the side of the road. I tried to restart the car a few times and it finally restarted. I continued on my trip without any problems until I stopped and filled the gas tank back up. This time I was in heavy traffic and had no place to go, pissed off a few people for blocking traffic but finally got the car restarted.

26 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

27 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 09/01/2014

For the last 60 to 90 days , my car has being turning off several times . I took it for maintenance and everything was updated, brakes , oil change . I was advised it was my fuel tank . This needs to be fixed ASAP , I drive my children with me all the time .

28 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 08/22/2014

When the gas tank is filled, the motor cuts out and stalls when driving, I have to keep the tank at half way to avoid this. My wife filled it up and it stalled on her while she was making a left hand turn in traffic. My child was in the car as well. It appears that this organization as well as Chrysler was aware of this situation. I never received any notification and have been dealing with it for some time now. This is unacceptable as my whole family was at stake! please advise the next course of action. I am going to contact my local dealer as a start. Attaching a news article on the situation. .

29 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 06/04/2014

Immediately after refueling to a full tank engine stalled and almost stopped while at a stop light only about 100 feet from gas satiation. While stopped stumble occurred two times, but never stopped completely. This is clearly a safety issue since a stall could cause traffic problems, brake booster degradation and driver insecurity. This second occurrence in a month.

30 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 05/09/2014

The car will stall every time after I fill up the gas. It 's very scary because I don't know when the car will die on me when I'm on the road and cars are behind me and just very afraid of someone is going to hit me from behind when my car dies on me suddenly. Yesterday I went to fill up the tank ( not all the way full ), after I drove about 1 block, the car stalled. I was unable to turn the steering wheel and the brakes lost power, I ran off the road and down an embankment to a parking lot right front tire blew out as I hit the curb. Some minor body damage.

31 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 03/31/2014

Had just filled fuel tank and vehicle stalled before getting out of gas station driveway. I was coming to a stop as exiting station and while braking (almost at a full stop), experienced a quick engine surge and then engine stalled. Luckily I was at a stop, shifted to park and restarted vehicle. The same thing happened less than a mile away as I was making a right right turn, without power steering the vehicle was now stalled in the oncoming lane. I came to a full stop, shifted to park and restarted again. Luckily I was less than a mile from my office and just parked vehicle there. The same thing happened when I last filled my tank (approx 10 days ago), stalling several times before I could get out of the costco parking lot. On that occasion, I congested traffic for several minutes while waiting for the vehicle to restart and head home. It didn't occur again during the subsequent days, but today I fueled up again and got the exact same issue - so it's definitely something related to the fueling process. I've had the vehicle since it was brand new and this is a new issue.

32 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 03/26/2014

When I fill my car with gas my engine will repeatedly stall anywhere from a minute or less to as long as 5 to 15 minutes upon leaving the station. Its very much like the pe13-016 investigation. In fact I've brought my car to the dealer and they have confirmed that my the gas tank is faulty. I did my research and uncovered your investigation and thought everything would be ok but it wasn't. Even though my car is a 2006 Dodge Magnum 5. 7l v8 with a 19 gallon fuel tank both the dealer (larry miller Dodge boise) and the Chrysler customer assistance center are adamant that my gas tank does not have the extended lifetime warranty described in pe13-016. They insist my car does not have the faulty tank that was the subject of your investigation. I don't claim to understand how stalling in traffic is not considered a safety issue and worthy of a recall but all other things equal, how come my car does not qualify for the extended lifetime warranty when even my dealer is saying my car has the exact same symptoms, its the right model year and the right configuration. This is not a trivial thing. Would you want to see your spouse and children randomly stalled out in traffic. And like me, I have found several other reports from fellow Chrysler lx series owners (magnum, charger & 300c) reporting that no, the car will not always start right back up. Very often we have to wrestle with it and suffer through multiple stalls and difficult starts before the problem clears itself. Please help.

34 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 03/03/2014

My 2005 Magnum also exhibits this problem. I would love to get this fixed "Chrysler is extending the fuel-tank warranties on 153,817 2006 Chrysler 300, Dodge charger and Magnum vehicles after complaints of engine stalling at low speeds, according to the national highway traffic safety administration. Nhtsa announced it has ended its probe into the 2006 Chrysler 300, Dodge charger and Magnum vehicles equipped with 5. 7-liter and 6. 1-liter hemi v8 engines. The vehicles were being investigated for fuel vapor recovery system failure following refueling. Nhtsa said there were 299 reports from consumers indicating that the fuel system allowed an overfill condition after refueling and that the engines may stall when the vehicle is stopped or traveling at low speeds. The problem was traced to the multifunction control valve fuel shutoff float in the 19-gallon tanks. The float can swell into a stuck open position, allowing an overfill condition. Chrysler and its supplier, stant, developed new fuel soak test requirements to address the condition and extended the warranty period, according to a Friday posting by NHTSA. The agency oversees vehicle recalls in the u. S. "the condition that is causing the majority of stalling incidents in the subject vehicles occurs at a stop or low speed and allows the vehicle to be restarted immediately," said NHTSA in its summary of the closed investigation. "the condition represents a low risk to motor vehicle safety and is adequately addressed by Chrysler's extended warranty. ".
