36 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 12/15/2013

My car stalls with a full tank of gas. The stall occurs after slowing down and coming to a stop. After placing the car in park and trying several times to start the car, the engine finally starts. I put it into drive, but it doesn't engage immediately. I then have to repeat by turning the car off and going thru the start and engage several times. This has happened several times while driving on the road with cars behind me. I get real panicky and don't feel at all safe with this situation. I noticed the connection between the full tank and the stalling after quite some time as the owner of the vehicle. I did some online research to find that many other owners have the same problem with the 300, charger and Magnum. I've also read articles online stating that you investigated the issue and found Chrysler at fault. With this finding, I would like Chrysler to fix the problem. At this time I have not contacted Chrysler as I'd like to find out if they will indeed fix the problem with a replacement. After all, this is what they said they would do. I also read they were mailing owners, but since owning the car since 2013, I have not received any contact from them concerning the fuel tank issue. What path do you suggest I take to remedy the situation of a fuel tank replacement by Chrysler? regards.

37 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 12/14/2013

I had just picked up the car in question after purchasing at a used car lot then drove it about 20 miles before I stopped for fuel at which time I filled the tank then as I went to pull out into the lane of traffic and began to pick up speed and at about 30 mph the car began stuttering then it died. Luckily it started up before the cars coming hit me. I have since filed it up several times before and realized that it was doing the same thing after each time I filled up , I then began doing some searching on the internet and seen that others were having the same issues so that led me to file this complaint. Can someone please look into this before someone gets seriously hurt?.

38 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 11/24/2013

Filled car with gas. Pulled away from station and car stalled multiple times at stops and low speed turns. No warning, no lights, no sound, no pm, just dead. Restart easy. Stalled about 5 times in 2 miles then behaved. Has happened many times after fill-up now I idle and wait fo short time and hope for the best. Have even shortfill tank before auto click. One scary incident after short fill, car stalled upon entering highway. Stalled causing power stirring issue making it very difficult to pull to side of road. . Car behind followed and almost rear ended my car. Must find fix!.

39 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 07/09/2013

Low fuel light came on, stopped at a gas station to fill up. I filled the tank full up to when the gas-refill-nozzle clicked off, and then a little more - up to the next whole dollar. Recapped my tank, and began to drive away. The engine bucked a bit then stalled. Was a bit harder than normal to get it restarted. Then slowed for the first traffic signal and it suddenly died in busy traffic! hard to get it restarted. Pulled away from the stop light and it bucked and stuttered some more and then cleared up in a couple miles. This has happened about 3 times since this behavior started. Two times for sure the car was running during the refill. I will pay attention in the future to see if it only happens during refill with it still running.

40 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 06/11/2013

Whenever I fill up my 2006 Dodge Magnum 5. 7 rt, it dies without notice afterwards. It usually takes about 10 miles to work out all of the dieing and stalling before it works normally. This happens everytime the gas tank is filled to the top. I was almost in an accident when this happened, so I'm very paranoid after getting gas now, this should be fixed by Dodge.

The approximate failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 102,000.

43 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 05/22/2013

After fueling up the vehicle to a full tank the car seems to want to stall when coming to a stop. This happened on three separate ocassions within a span of 3 stop lights and when you go to restart the car it doesn't want to start right away leaving you vulnerable at a stop light just sitting there.

44 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 05/17/2013

Car dies after fill up. They say only fix is to replace fuel tank. I feel Dodge should replace as warranty work because this is a safety issue. . Dodge knows of this problem and if there is an accident because car stalls I feel they are liable.

45 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 05/10/2013

Qhen I fill up my gas tank the car starts to shut off every time I fill it up I have to put like 1/2 a tank so it doesn't shut off on me when im driving.

46 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 05/08/2013

I filled the gas tank up, got in car and when I was merging on freeway car jerked several times and died. I was almost hit by multiple cars. Got car into neutral was able to restart but it died several more times. Now every time I fill it up the car dies in traffic at speed. I am afraid to drive it. The dealer says it is a faulty fuel tank but will not warranty the repair. I have done research and have found several forums with many people having this same issue with the Dodge Magnum and Chrysler 300. This is a safety issue and could get somebody killed if it hasn't already.

47 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 05/01/2013

After fill up and not topping off tank car will sputter or even die and have to be restarted several times for the first 10 or so mile. My car has died several times in busy traffic almost causing a rear end collision from cars behind me.

48 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 05/01/2013

After filing the fuel tank, the engine will sputter and stall. When it first began to happen to me, it seemed like I was getting bad gas. Now I know that this occurs primarily after I make a left turn and is due to a part that is inside the fuel tank. The part fails and the result is this problem with the engine stalling. This is a known problem with older Magnums, chargers, and Chrysler 300's. It is dangerous!! this has happened to be on interstate 95 and just when I got into the travel lane the engine died. I think the left turn I made was a few mile before I got to the entrance ramp and it caught me off-guard. I was lucky to be able to pull over and get onto the shoulder. This is a design failure and is not normal wear & tear. All of the older cars mentioned here can be affected. I assume you have received prior complains about this issue. Dodge is no help, but should be required to fix this problem. Thanks.

49 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 04/08/2013

Upon getting fuel, car would cut out while driving until gas gauge showed about 3/4 full. If manually filled tank to not full, no problem.

50 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 03/10/2013

Just filled the tank and was leaving the gas station and the car stalled at the stop sign. Car continued to stall for several minutes and was hard to start each time, seems to stall at both low and high speeds. It's very dangerous for the car to just stall in mid traffic. This has happened numerous times since then until I realized it only happens when the gas tank is full. Took it to dealer today and they confirmed it is due to the fuel tank rollover valve sticking and blocking a vent. Only solution is to replace the entire gas tank. Car stalled once today on the way to the dealer service center (they wanted it with a full tank) and then three times on my way home after the completion of their analysis. It will continue to stall until the tank level goes down a gallon or so of fuel.

51 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 02/04/2013

I had just filled up my gas tank and upon leaving the gas station and reaching the first stop light (~100 yards from the gas station) my car stalled. I was able to restart the car following a couple of tries. This was the only time this has happened to me in this car.

52 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 01/24/2013

I am in the military currently stationed in germany and my 2005 Dodge Magnum had to get a inspection before I can drive. Today when I took it in for the inspection I was told my car was inoperable and will be put in storage until I can get it fixed. The mechanic showed me the tank and on the very bottom it looks like the owner prior to myself had the same issue and tried to seal it with some type of adhesive to fix it. When I purchased my car 2 1/2 years ago the dealer didn't tell me that information so I never knew there was a temporary fix to a serious problem. So now I am forced to pay or a rental car and pay well above the price I would pay in the united states because I have a leak and when I bought the car in 2010 there were only 60,000 miles. Please email me a response at the address listed in section 3 due to time differences and I am not always near my computer to check my skype #. Thank you for your time, hope you can help.

53 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 01/12/2013

Vehicle stalling after fuel fill-up. The temporary fix of not "topping off" the tank worked for a few months. The problem is happening more frequently however, regardless of the fuel level. Car shutting off/losing power randomly is a severe safety hazard.

54 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 01/09/2013

My car falls under the gas tank replacement program but the dealers keep putting off the replacement stating no parts availability. I was recently nearly hit while making a legal u turn when the car stalled twice leaving me sideways across 2 lanes of oncoming traffic. I do not want to sell my car but the situation is scary enough for me to park the car. But waiting a year for the part is ridiculous.

55 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 01/07/2013

V8 engine repeatedly and unpredictably stalls and loses power during driving and turning situations. Recovers after 1-2 seconds in some instances, stalls completely and is difficult to restart in others. Produces extremely hazardous and dangerous situations in traffic and at intersections. Local Dodge dealer (hall Dodge) has had car for six weeks+ and has failed to correctly diagnose & repair. This appears to be a common very dangerous problem involves fuel tank valve, as it is more prevalent (see many online posts of identical symptoms since 2005 and before) after full fuel fill and persists until unrestricted fuel appears to have been used to sufficient degree. Dealer has replaced unlikely items such as sunroof module and the abs module in futile and inept attempts to skirt the real issue. Someone is going to die in one of these cars when it stalls --Chrysler Dodge is 100% knowledgeable of this defect in many of their cars, and will not acknowledge or make any attempt to correct it. We implore NHTSA to intervene immediately! posted 27 Feb 2013.

56 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 11/10/2012

2nd submission - I did not get a confirmation of my first one and I have more information. My 2006 Dodge Magnum with the 5. 7l hemi has had and continues to have the issues outlined in NHTSA investigation pe 13016. It stalls out after fueling. It has now starting doing it when the weather gets much warmer during the day. I have contacted Chrysler via e-mail and was told my vehicle was not covered by the extension of the warranty on the gas tank and associated parts. I have contacted billion here in sioux falls and also papik in luverne mn and neither service department has heard of this issue, the investigation, or the fix. At thing point I may just have my local shop that I use fix it as it has become very nerve racking to drive. I should not have to pay out of pocket for something the company has committed to fix. I did download a copy of the letter from the NHTSA website that was linked to the investigation page. I never received a copy of this letter from Chrysler which is probably because I am the second owner of this car. I would appreciate any help you can provide.

57 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 11/05/2012

I had just filled the tank of my 2006 Dodge Magnum and drove about 20 miles into town. After making a quick stop at a local store I once again got into the car and began driving approx. 30 mph. As I began to make a left hand turn all power was lost to the car; steering became nearly impossible, gas pedal did not work and I basically was dead in the road. I turned the key to off, placed the car in park and then restarted the engine. It started right up, began to drive and at the next light needed to take another left; with cars coming at me from the other direction I went to take the left when once again the entire car lost power. . No steering, no gas power, check oil light came on. I was lucky that the oncoming cars did not hit me and that I had allowed enough space incase the same thing occurred or there would have been a collision for sure. This has happened a few other times without any reason but we are always able to start it back up and then it may or may not happen again. Been told it is the "roll over valve" failing $2 grand to fix!!!!!.

58 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 08/31/2012

I started smelling gas so bad that the car was not drivable. I had it checked. The top of the gas tank was leaking, which is underneath the back seat where my children sit. It cost about $400. 00 to fix. However, I had to take it back twice because of the "o" rings. (that is what they called it at the place I got my car fixed) they said that the manufature changed the part so they had to of known that there was a problem. They should have recalled it. A gas leak situation, when I have four children in the car could have turned into something more then just a gas leak. The manufature should have made this problem public.

59 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 06/01/2012

Tl the contact owns a 2006 Dodge Magnum. When the contact filled up the tank, she noticed that the top of the fuel tank was defective. The fuel tank top (the malfunction control valve) allowed fuel to leak into the purge line, which caused the engine to stall in traffic. Central florida Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (8675 commodity cir, orlando, FL 32819, (321) 445-8017) stated that the vehicle met the criteria for technical service bulletin: 14-002-14 issued on April 22, 2014; however, the VIN was not included and the contact was denied coverage for the repairs. The manufacturer stated that the coverage was excluded for the vehicle and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was 40,000.

60 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 03/16/2012

No accident involved, not sure what caused the problem but car stalls when gas tank is filled and pump automatically shuts off. Solution has been to manually pump gas til it get to the full line stop.

61 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 08/12/2011

Stalls every time you fill up, does not matter how much gas is in the tank, almost allways waits till you pull out into traffic. Stalls 3 or 4 times and then runs fine till next time you fill up.

62 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 06/01/2011

Car stalls after fueling. This has been going on for several years. The car was bought new and the problem did not start until 2011. Car taken to the dealer several times and they could not find anything wrong because there were no error codes. Back to the dealer in November 2013 and was told at that time that a new fuel tank was needed. The tank replacement was Chrysler's recomendation. The tank was replaced at a cost of almost $2000. 00.

64 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 09/17/2010

I filled up my gas tank at service station and when I pulled out onto the road, my engine stalled. Very hard to restart. Problem got worse over the years since then, I can no longer fill up my gas tank or the engine will stall every time. I have to keep the tank at 3/4 full or less.

65 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 09/07/2010

When you fill the gas tank the engine will stall several times until the gas level lowers. If you fill the tank to 3/4 full it wont stall. After the stall the engine will restart after several attempts. Very dangerous if on freeway or no spot to pull over. I bought the car new in 2004.

66 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

68 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 05/09/2006

Vehicle stalls after fueling up. It appears to be the same exact problem that has occurred with the x53 fuel tank. This is an extremely hazardous issue that has been going on since the vehicle was new. The hazard is because a stalled vehicle in the road is now an obstruction and an accident waiting to happen. The fact that this issue was diagnosed on the v8 with a 19 gallon tank and was covered by a Chrysler warranty extension admits the issue was on Chrysler and should be extended to these vehicles as well. Service bulletin 14-002-14 and warranty extension bulletin id-14-01 refer to the exact issue as my vehicle.
