Unfortunately I ran into a driver whom was in front of me due to low visibility & bad brakes. My headlights are extremely dull & foggy. Also, whomever own the car before me had the brake vacuum replaced due to recall & ever since I've purchased the car there's been a brake problem. Such as needing a new master cylinder, new propositioning, new brake shoes, and wheel cylinder. I have receipts of all work completed. I have a one year old whom ride along and I'm highly concerned about his safety. I love the car but if it continues I will junk out my car and look to sue Dodge Chrysler and whomever else associated with the making of the vehicle.

Complete brake system failure. After Neon sat for approx 36 hours parked it was driven at hwy speeds for approx 12 miles and brake pedal would travel without effort to floor. Using a combination of engine braking and hand brake I was able to come to a stop after pumping pedal normal braking would occur. It has been to the dealer four times now with air in the lines for no apparent reason. After a master cylinder was replaced it seemed normal only to have the pedal travel to the floor once again. Dealer now states unable to duplicate. I bought the car new and only have 8k miles on it.

A whistling noise when brakes were applied was a result of spring clip on back of brakes that go into piston, rusted off. This can cause loss of brake power.
Consumer contacted dealer about recall#96v075000/manufacturer's recall 687, and dealer said parts will not be in for about 3 months.

When brakes were applied, they were very sporadic & pulled hard to the right. Would also lose power, but vehicle was not stopping. Been to several dealership & informed consumer brakes were fine. Took to another dealership & mechanic put in brake fluid & then noticed there was a crack in brake master cylinder.

Both the master cylinder and the power brake booster have been replaced.
While applying the brakes in a regular stopping situation, no inclement weather, the brakes went out. The pedal went to floor and vehicle kept moving. Driver used the emergency parking brake to stop vehicle. This happened without warning. The master cylinder and abs brakes were replaced by the dealer.
Master cylinder failed/replaced. However problem persists.
The brake pedal becomes rock hard and there is no braking ability. After a couple of miles the pedal becomes soft and goes to the floor and the brakes lock up. Master cylinder and power booster have been replaced, problem still exists.
