5 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2011 Dodge Nitro

Failure Date: 10/19/2015

My vehicle stalled out due to a failure with a defective totally integrated power module. According to the dealer making the repair wires leading to the alternator and wires leading to the pcm were fried. The wiring issue appear to be a fire hazard. My first concern is this defective part has caused me about $2,000 in repairs from replacing the battery, 2 alternators and towing. My second concern is that in both situations the car died on me in traffic one on a six lane road and another time on the highway. I also had a similar incident on the highway when the motor died with only 30k miles on it and had to be replaced by the manufacturer.

6 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2008 Dodge Nitro

Failure Date: 10/05/2015

Without warning while driving or stationary, the vehicles horn will honk steadily, wipers and squirters will operate, door locks will lock and unlock, head lights will flash, and engine will die (if in motion). All simultaneously. It is very hard to control a car at hiway speeds when all of these things happen and the motor shuts off. I have read forums online and have found that the totally integrated power module (tipm) is the cause of these problems. I have filed a complaint with Chrysler and they informed me that there are no recalls for the tipm for my year and that this is not a safety issue. I do not agree with them. No engine warning light comes on and there is no warning. . . . It just happens.

7 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2008 Dodge Nitro

Failure Date: 07/11/2015

The first time it happened I had just turned off the highway and the vehicle completely shut down but the horn was going non stop and the wipers too. I couldn't pull over because the steering was not working correctly. I eventually was able to get it to stop when my fiancé attempted to unhook the battery. This has happened about 4 times totally. The last time I was driving home from work at night, it was dark and the wipers went crazy and my lights went out then the vehicle just shut down, I couldn't see anything, thank god no car was passing by. At times it doesn't want to start but the wipers come on. I took it to the shop and after a few hrs they said it was the integrated power module. Very expensive that I can't fix right now. Very unsafe!.

10 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2008 Dodge Nitro

Failure Date: 07/10/2009

My 2008 Dodge Nitro, while driving on hwy, 60-65 mph, out of nowhere the vehicle powers down. The windshield wipers spray out fluid and moves back and forward. The horn continues to make noise. My satellite radio has no signal. My driver side window button has some kind of short when trying to roll it up. This issue has been going shortly after purchasing the truck. No one seems to know what is wrong. At first Dodge chapman in vegas, they thought reprogramming the remote key. Then I paid over $600,to lithia Dodge in renton, wa because they thought it was something with the fuel tank. But no this issue continues to go. It is beginning to be a safety issue shutting down in the middle of the highway with my kids and me in the car. So I google if anyone else is having this problem and yes it appears problem has arised and it lies with the tipm. This product was recall on the 2007 Dodge Nitro. I took my truck into the dealership 7/18/12. Told them what to check, because I brought the truck there before and they couldn't find the problem. I told them to check the tipm. The service department called me today 7/20/12 and tells me yes, it is the tipm (totally integrated power module). Please help. I called Dodge customer service and they are looking into this, but states there is no recall on this issue with the year of my vehicle.
