Our 2007 Dodge Nitro has a recall on it (n10) I have been trying to get it fixed since late June/2013 to early July/2013 with no prevail it is making a horrible noise and get worse as time goes on. I have called Chrysler recall department asking to get a loaner until the parts are available to fix this problem because I have been advised that it is very dangerous to drive. This is my only means of transportation. Everytime I call the dealership they say they are still waiting on the parts to repair it. Any suggestions on what to do next would be greatly appreciated. When driving 65mph the vehicle loses power and will not accelerate over 25 mph. The failure was experienced numerous times. Engine stalls while parked or when accelerating from a full stop. It does the same while taking a curve and trying to accelerate when the curve ended. It feels like there is not enough gasoline coming from the tank and the engine starves. It does it when the engine has finished warming and all the time while driving. Vehicle has been in service for warranty because of this issue, but the problem returns as soon as 1 week after.
We purchased our Dodge Nitro 6/11/2011, noticed shifting problems right away but was tolded by dealer is was just stiff from being new. As time goes on the warmer the transmission gets the shifting between gears gets worse, mostly on cruise control. Some times with or without cruise on, it down shifts and sounds like the bottom is falling out from under the car. Took back to dealer 4 times on the problem, and was told by transmission spec. Tech. At dealers that Chrysler put a 4 liter transmission in a 6 liter car, and there was nothing they could do about that. And was told that it may or maynot get worse as time as by. I now have 7400 miles on the car and its geting worse and no one seems to care. No wonder Chrysler needed a bailout. . . To me the car is great except the transmission !!!!!.
When sitting at a light or otherwise in idle Dodge Nitro 2008 slt stalls and feels like it is trying to die.
After having a vibration in the under carriage of my Dodge Nitro; I then carried it to a Dodge dealership and was told that it needed an induction service. I being totally displeased with the recommendation; I decided to seek some assistance at a local garage and an investigation was done of the vehicle. As a result of the mechanic doing a few test and driving the vehicle; it was said that the vehicle had a chattering feeling coming from the drive train {automatic transmission}. The mechanic also did a google search to find that a lot of other vehicles are having the same problem!!! it was also recorded that there's some issues with the electronics and a few other parts; yet Dodge is sitting back making money off the consumers for these known defects in their vehicles. Why??? also is it just the manner of business now to build vehicle to breakdown on an annual basis??? see nbc nightline news investigation on Dodge dealerships!!! please research!!! thank you a concerned consumer seeking assistance. Would this be a good time to start a world wide class action lawsuit??? please reply as I seek legal counsel.
Outside temp was approx 30-35 f, engine was running aprox 10 mins, while accelerating from 30mph to 50 mph on the highway, the gas pedal stayed to the floor after I took my foot off, causing vehicle to continue accelerating to a higher mph. I put transmission selector into neutral, engine raced to a higher rpm, used brakes to slow vehicle down and exited highway. When I stopped the vehicle, I shut off ignition and heard the gas pedal pop back into position. After approx 2 mins, I restarted engine and everything seemed normal. Has not recurred as of yet. Called major Chrysler Jeep Dodge service department to inquire if they've had this type of incident, they said no. They checked if vehicle was still under warranty, no it was not. They offered diagnostic check but I scanned the aldl for computer codes, none.
