Four problems related to automatic transmission park/neutral start switch have been reported for the 1997 Dodge RAM. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Vehicle jumped into reverse while it was turned on. Consumer was on the standing on the outside. Dealer not informed. Please provide moree information.
Vehicle was parked, engine running and rolled backward into garage. Damage unknown at this time.
There is no shift interlock system present in vehicle, and vehicle can be taken out of park without use of a key.
Vehicle did not come with a shift interlock mechanism, consumer says that a 9- year old child got in, and put the vehicle into gear without key or applying brakes, and vehicle took off. Dealer has been contacted.
