Engine problems of the 1999 Dodge RAM

Six problems related to engine have been reported for the 1999 Dodge RAM. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Engine problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2005

The engine bloc developed a crack.

2 Engine problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2001

Consumer was traveling 70mph on highway and without prior warning vehicle stopped. Consumer heard a noise, and vehicle just went out. Vehicle had to be towed.

3 Engine problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2001

Vehicle pulled from side to side. While pulling to one side, when applying brakes, vehicle pulled to other side. Contacted dealer, and dealer did not know what caused it. Heads have cracked twice and dealer will not acknowledge problem.

4 Engine problem

Failure Date: 02/18/2000

Excessive loss of engine coolant; one quart is lost every 700 miles. Vehicle has been to three dealers, but problem still occurs.

5 Engine problem

Failure Date: 11/01/1999

Consumer has had to replace transmission 4 times and motor once since purchase because piston had hole in it. Dealer cannot say why.

6 Engine problem

Failure Date: 08/06/1999

Crankshaft, traded for another truck.
