Three problems related to cruise control have been reported for the 2001 Dodge RAM. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Cruise control intermittently disengaged. When presing brakes lightly it won't turn off. Stepped on brakes hard and vehicle felt like it was wading down. Dealer insisted it was normal for 2001 vehicles.
Applying clutch will not disengaged cruise control. Instead, engine will rev up to redline and turn itself off. On 2 occasions, consumer turned off cruise control and shifted into neutral to coast to a stop light when suddenly engine began to rev. Dealer claimed vehicle was designed this way, and there was no solution. Therefore, consumer was driving an unsafe vehicle.
Cruise control does not disengage when clutch is depressed. Engine begins to increase rpm's under no load condition. Have to either hit the brake pedal or manually disengage crusie control.
