general problems of the 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 - part 1

The dash board on my ram has a huge crack { along with several small cracks} running from passenger side windshield back across to center of dash. I have to wonder what is keeping dash together, very unsafe. This is a big problem in this model and needs to be taken care of!.

The dash on my 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 has cracked to the point that there is barely any left. I feel this is a safety issue because the broken pieces could fly at someone and cause serious injuries. Also upon impact the dash could have further pieces break off and cause damage.

Dash board caved in. Now frame that holds the insturment panel, fan controls, and light controls is broke and brittle. The dash board has tendicy to tilt toward me when accellerating.

The front cover and top of the dashboard on my 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 has been slowly falling apart over the last two years. I have removed the front instrument cover due to dangerous sharp edges. The top of the dash has split into four sections with numerous cracks radiating from the bolts near the windshield. Had a 6"x10" section of the top dash pop out and land in my lap when I hit a pothole.

Dash cover has self destructed into many jagged and broken pieces. I have had pieces drop into the dash and my biggest concern is that in event of an accident this will come loose with impact or be propelled by the deployment of the airbags and become missiles inside of the vehicle.

The dash board has shattered and fallen into the vehicle. Pieces of the dash fly out at you when you turn the fan on. The pieces of the dash are allover the floor and get into everything. If we ere to be in an accident the air bags would come straight out the top and hit the windshield. The dash board provides no support to the vehicle and would not help anyone in the front seat if they were to be in an accident. .

The contact owns a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that the entire dashboard was fractured and the passenger side air bag was protruding from the dashboard. The air bag warning light was also illuminated. The VIN was unavailable. The failure and current mileage was unknown.

Bought used 2000 Dodge ram 4x4 this past summer. It only has 61,000 miles on it. About three months after buying it, we noticed a very large crack in the center of the dashboard going from window to edge of front. I had read about this fault with this model truck, but when we bought it, it had no crack. I am afraid for our safety now. There should be a recall as it is a safety problem! but, of course, Dodge won't recall anything. . . . . . . . . Like the defective ball joints, front ends, etc.

Dodge Ram 1500 dash board is about to fall off in my lap while driving and I am afraid when it does it will cause injury or my death. . . It has already caused a minor injury to a fiend of mine in the passenger seat. We were driving down the road and the glove compartment fell off on her foot and caused 2 hairlinr fractures. The hinge had cracked and broken like the rest of the dash its just a matter or time before gets killed. My electrical system is malfunctioning lights go on and off at night this issue is going to get people killed.

Dash is falling apart.

The dashboard in my 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup just started cracking for no reason a while back and has now degraded to the point that a large piece of the dashboard fell off exposing the inner dash area. My research has shown this to be a large scale issue with Dodge ram pickups and other Chrysler vehicles.

The whole dash on my 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 has caved in leaving jagged edges everywhere and my electrical wires exposed. Smaller pieces sometimes fall into the air vents and blow out into my face. The problem started with cracks and by November 2008, the dash was almost completely gone.

Dash board had crumbled and fall off from the dash. Now there is an open space at my dash. It is unfair they made this kind of dash board weak and selling it at the cost of $800. 00 dlls to replace it. We pay for a truck that is build to last. And still here we have a dash that just broke by adding armor and a rag to clean it up. Still they put commercials that is the best truck with the best warranty and failed to replace it.

I own a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 and the dash in this vehicle has completely fallen apart. It started with some cracks but now has entire pieces falling off of it down into the floor boards . It is going to make this vehicle illegal to drive on the road unless daimler Chrysler recalls these vehicles to be fixed, as this is due to cheap materials not holding up.

Dash on my 2000 Ram 1500 began with a hairline crack. Four years later the entire dash has caved in. I see this as a major safety concern as my children ride with me every day. I am concerned with the pieces flying during an accident or the air bags being compromised. The pieces are very sharp and could injure one of my children severly in a crash. With the amount of complaints about this problem, I am surprised the government has not taken the time to look deeper into this issue.

I bought a used 200 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 and the dash has a hole in it and is caving in to the dash itself I believe if I were in a accident that parts from the dash would injure someone as they are already broken.

The upper dash on my 2000 Dodge truck started cracking. The vehicle has been garaged ever since new and very rarely taken out during daytime. Mostly at night. Heat and sun are not to blame. Vehicle has only 52,000 miles on it. This vehicle is babied. I am the original owner.

Dashboard began to fracture about a year ago, 11-06'. It has steadily worsened until driving the other day on interstate the dash made a noise and we seen there was a large hole dropped out of the thing as a sink hole would. I am concerned it could damage or deploy the airbags or other wiring or devices. It is nearly fractured enough in several other places to cause more collapsing of the dash. Nothing yet done to replace or repair.

There are multiple cracks of various sizes on the dash of my 2000 Dodge ram. I am concerned that the dash is going to start collapsing causing damage to wiring in under the dash, however, more importantly it poses a risk of passenger airbag failure due to possible puncture. When not being driven the dash has always been protected and is not the result of any accident. This needs to be rectified by the manufacturer before someone is seriously injured due to poor quality parts.

The cracks have managed to meet and now entire shards of sharp hard plastic are falling into my dash and also protruding from my dash. They could easily injure someone. I have read in many forums that this appears to be a very common issue for this model truck. I have not replaced the dash yet because I do not know if the replacement dash would have the same problem since this issue has not been addressed by the manufacture. This is a very dangerous problem.
