My 2000 Dodge ram truck dashboard is just about disintegrated with many cracks - pieces are starting to fall out which exposes the wires to sun. Dodge does not want to seem to do anything about these faulty dashboards that appear to be falling apart.
Dashboard collapse resulting in electrical short.
The dashboard on my 2000 Dodge ram 4x4 1500 truck has been cracking for quite some time. After researching the problem on the internet, I have observed that there are several people having the same problem. I too am now concerned that the dashboard breaking apart and potentially collapsing is a safety hazard and could affect the airbags and/or electrical systems of the truck possibly causing injury to any driver/occupants of the vehicle. I believe this is a problem that Dodge should recall and repair.
My dash board fell in on my 2000 Dodge ram on my way into work and is progressively getting worse from weather conditions. I am afraid this could cause electrical problems with the sun beating down on exposed wires and other possible damage to the vehicle.
The dashboard on my 2000 Dodge pickup truck has cracked and fallen in in several places. I have read articles where people have had electrical problems such as driving at night and the lights go out etc. Read several articles stating that the problem is wide spread and Dodge needs to have a recall. I wanted to write and complain as it appears as though there could possibly be a danger involved with the dash board breaking. Not sure when the majority of the cracks happened so I'm estimating in the fields below.
My dash board on my 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 pick up has cracked and fallen in and it is making the glove box hard to open and shut. I really do believe that it should be recalled and replaced and not at my expense.
The dash board of my 2000 Dodge ram pickup is falling apart. It now has huge holes in it everywhere exposing the interior of the dash components and systems. I have been to several local dealers who all say that they want nearly $1500 to replace the dash and that it is not a recalled item so I have to pay for it. There is definitely something wrong here!.
There is a large cracks on the passenger side of the dashboard,it has cracked into several small pieces,if the air bag were to deploy these pieces could become deadly,I have turned off the air bag as to keep this from possibly happening,I have taken very good care of this truck,64,000 miles and its a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab. I know this is a problem in this truck.
The dashboard of my 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 has been slowly cracking and caving in over the past 4 years. I fear this is a safety hazard as it will affect the deployment of the air bags and electrical components exposed are also a hazard. Dodge Chrysler is well aware of this defect and needs to fix these pickups. We paid fair market for them and now we can't even sell an otherwise beautiful truck.
I own a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 4wd quad cab model. Due to an apparent defect in the quality of the dash pieces, there are several major cracks running the total depth of my dash panel. Dodge will not replace the dash as a defect product which could cause safety issues.
I have a 2000 Dodge 1500 quad cab with a completely broken and collapsing dashboard. This started 3 1/2 to 4 years ago and since then I really don't have much dash left. Since some research I have found that this is not a unique problem.
I own a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 4wd quad cab model. Due to an apparent defect in the quality of the dash pieces there are several major cracks running the total depth of my dash panel. There are cracks that go right over my passenger side air bag which cause concern over the proper operation of the air bag in the unforeseeable event of an accident. Dodge wants a ridiculous amount of money to replace the dash which I am unable to supply. They will not replace the dash as a defect product which could cause safety issues.
The dashboard and front plate are disintegrating. Pieces are falling inside the dash body. It is so brittle just closing the doors causes additional cracks. To prevent a possible malfunction of the passenger airbags I shut it off.
I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab. This is my 4th Dodge ram truck and I have never had this problem before. I first noticed a small crack in the corner and then another, and another. . . Now I can probably fit a basketball or something in there the hole is so big. This is absolutely crazy. You pay $30,000 for a vehicle and then you tell the dealership about it and they don't want any part of it except to try and sell you another new vehicle. I have called and complained to the corporation and they want nothing to do with it either. I am not sure of the exact date of when this happened, but it was around the same time that my clear coat came off my truck as well, that I used to wash every other week and take very excellent care of. They told me the problem of the dash and the paint was because my truck was black and I lived in florida. When I let them know that this was my 4th Dodge truck and I have owned all of them in FL, one was red and the other 3 were all black as well and they never had any problems, they just got really quiet and tried to change the subject. When I wouldn't let them and kept pushing the issue, they never had an answer for me and basically blew me off. Pretty sad when you think about it, you spend that much money on a vehicle and you take excellent care of it and then it falls apart because they use crappy parts of something and they don't even care. Myself and my step dad talked to the guy who sold me the vehicle (phil bobbit) and he told me that he would "take care of it for me" and to just bring it into the paint and body and they would fix it up for me. Well when we showed up for that they looked at me like I had a third eye or something. They knew nothing about this discussion with phil. Then I left several messages for him and he never returned my calls.
The dashboard and glove door compartment door cracked on the consumer's 2000 Dodge 1500.
The dashboard broke into pieces. It cracked in a similar manor as if it was the windshield breaking. The consumer stated that a piece of broke off and fell down into the body of the dashboard. The consumer was concerned that this could set the passenger's side airbag off. This problem started occurred in February. 2005.
I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 and the dash is brittle and breaking into about twenty different pieces. I have been advised that these small pieces could maim or kill when the air bag deploys.
Dash shatters after time. I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 and the plastic dash shattered. It is very dangerous, because the fragments are very sharp. I have done some research and there are literally hundreds of people with the same complaint. The dash should be replaced with one that is not so susceptible to cracking. This defect certainly could have the effect of causing serious injury or death in even a minor accident.
Dashboard of 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 quad has crumbled into big pieces. If the airbag was deployed, the plastic material would be like shrapnel flying into the face and body of the passengers.
2000 Dodge ram dash board fallen in with sharp edges exposed.
I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 sport and the dash looks like somebody put a hand grenade on it and blew it up. It started cracking about 4 years ago and today there are more pieces of it broken off than there are still intact. I didn't think it was a very common problem but it is extremely common. I like Dodge but I would be ashamed if I were them for making something so cheap built and then not standing behind it to fix or replace it. That's not good for business especially for return customers. I think it could also be a safety risk. If those razor sharp dash pieces are launched off the dash fast enough, they could slice right through you. They should grow a set and replace these dashes!!!.
2000 Dodge Ram 1500 pick up. . Broken dash and falling apart. . Just started to crack and crumble away. .
Contact stated the dashboard started showing hair line cracks and have progressed into spider webbing. Pieces broke off and spilled over underneath the dashboard, including the radio, heater, and passenger air bag area. Where the pieces broke off, the dashboard was very sharp, brittle and posed a safety risk. He was afraid that if the air bag deployed one of these pieces could project and hurt someone. Because the vehicle was no longer under warranty the manufacturer and dealer offered no help. The vehicle has not been repaired. Updated 12/27/05.
The dashboard on my 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 is crumbling. I am concerned that it will cause a failure of the passenger side airbag in the event of a crash. The Dodge dealer would not replace it unless I paid for the repair because they claimed it was cosmetic only.
The dash on my Dodge Ram 1500 is completly falling apart. This started when this truck had 30,000 miles but now the wiring ,controling radio, speakers lights, etc is being affected - this has now became a safety hazard.
The dashboard of my 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 has at least 20 cracks in it with one large hole from pieces falling in. I understand that this has become a huge issue with Dodge owners, but daimer-Chrysler has done nothing to resolve the issue. I have not contacted a dealership local to me as I have seen all too often that owners are being rejected by them. Where is our protection as consumers?.
The dashboard in my 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 slt has been slowly cracking for the past 6 years or so and has now a sizeable hole from a piece breaking off. My concern is the "dry insulation" that causes dust to filter into my ventilation system and blows into the cab for me and my passengers to breath. Not healthy at all. This product should be recalled or paid for a replacement. There is no solution other than to replace.
Dash board has literally shattered!! started with what looked like a stress cracked when vehicle was 2 years old, then cracks appeared every where. Have brought in to dealer a few times to complain, but was told there was nothing that could be done. They have received other complaints but until there was a recall nothing could be done unless it was at my expense ($550). Dash is now duct taped together (what pieces remain) and have purchased a dash mat to cover. Concern is that pieces are falling through and this may cause malfunction in electrical system and/or air bags.
The dashes on the 2000 Dodge ram they just fall apart.
Dashboard failure on 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 truck. The dashboard has fractures / cracks that propagate to airbag area passenger side. I have shut airbag off on the passenger side in fear of airbag ignition and flying shards of hard plastic coming from decomposing dash. It is apparent that this plastic material is defective considering the vehicle is garaged and has only 46,000 miles on it's od. Dash area on drivers side has completely fractured with pieces beginning to dislodge and fall into wiring harness above steering area. Fear is chaffing occurring at wire harness locations from dislodged plastic shards and creating the potential for electrical interior fire.
2000 Dodge Ram 1500 dash board is caving in. Consumer wants to know if the problem will effect the air bag.
