Two problems related to air bag on-off switch have been reported for the 2003 Dodge Ram 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Tl- the contact owns a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact mentioned that there were no failures with the vehicle before the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for this recall repair. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign id number: (air bags) and stated that the dealer fractured the . Key switch and the repair was not completed properly due to damaging a component while repairing the vehicle. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and they stated that the contact would need to replace the key switch to complete the recall repair, however there was no problem with the key switch before the vehicle was taken to that authorized dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure that occured from the dealers repair and the contact was waiting on instructions from the manufacturer to determine if the recall would be completed proplerly. The approximate failure mileage was 126,000. Dyd.
Took my truck to dealer to have recall p78 air bag inflator part # cbdzp403aa replaced when they were through with repairs they said there was a short in airbag on/off switch it would be $165. 00 to repair I declined I told them there was nothing wrong with the switch when I brought the truck in to have the recall preformed the air bag light stays on all the time now never be for they worked on it they shorted the switch.
