Four problems related to side/window air bag have been reported for the 2003 Dodge Ram 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Takata recall- I received a recall notice for the passenger side airbag, late 2015. Received notice that part was available August 2016. I only used the vehicle for limited use while waiting for the replacement part. When I brought the truck in to have the airbag replaced, they told me they checked the part number on my airbag and it's good, it doesn't need to be replaced. So I lost the use of my vehicle for the last several months because a recall shouldn't have been issued or is it that Chrysler didn't want to spend the 15 minutes to check the part number when the issue first arose?.
The contact owns a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500. While driving 35 mph, the contact rear ended the preceding vehicle because there were no brake lights illuminated. The driver and passenger side air bags deployed. A police report was filed. The contact sustained whiplash and breathing issues due to the powder/fumes contained within the air bags. Medical attention was received. The vehicle was towed home and then driven to a dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
2003 Dodge Ram 1500. Consumer writes in regards to parts not available to repair passenger side airbag recall notice.
Takata recall on passenger side air bag. After contacting the nearest dealer, they informed me the parts were not in stock. Called back several time between may 2015 and February 2016 and the parts are still not in stock. Looking for help with this situation. What is my next step. Nothing has happened with the air bag yet. Just trying to get the repairs done before something does.
