Headlight Switch problems of the 2006 Dodge Ram 1500

Four problems related to headlight switch have been reported for the 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Headlight Switch problem

Failure Date: 12/27/2013

The passenger side headlight does not turn on even after replacement when the headlight switch is in the on position. Dealer has determined that the fault is the tipm (totally integrated power module). Per dealer mfg no longer produces the tipm unit. Per dealer aftermarket no longer manufactures part either. Dealer suggests wrecking yard, however part is a computer based product that still must be reprogrammed by dealer after replacement. This is a safety issue with lighting, and the passenger side headlight will not function without this unit being replaced.

2 Headlight Switch problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2011

Turn signals fail to work completely, or right turn signal will activate while using left signal or vise-versa. Headlights will fail while this "multi-function switch" shorts out. No wipers, no turn signals, no lights.

3 Headlight Switch problem

Turn signals fail to work completely, or right turn signal will activate while using left signal or vise-versa. Headlights will fail while this "malti-function switch" shorts out. No wipers, no turn signals, no lights.
