Dodge Ram 1500 owners have reported 2 problems related to fail to slow down (under the vehicle speed control category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While driving 75 mph on the highway I took my foot off of the gas pedal, but the truck continued to speed up. I pumped the gas a couple of times but I failed to slow down. I applied the brakes, but each time I took my foot off of the brake I sped up again. I exited up an off ramp where I had to stand on the brake to keep form hitting the car infront of me at the light. I geared down(stick shift) but the engine continued to rev as if at 75 mph still. I turned off the key then restarted the truck only to have the engine continue to rev. I then had the truck towed to my mechanic who looked at it that night and the next morning but was unable to find out why it happened. This model does not have computer control of the throttle. I am grateful I was on a straight stretch of highway and not on a mountain road on the way home, and that I didnt hit anyone in the process of stopping. . . This is not the first Dodge to do this according to this web site. Perhaps there a so few complaints about this because other drivers have died as a result of a failure that seems to be undetectable after the fact. If I had hit the car infront of me, I would have had no proof that it was equipment failure and not operator error. . . If I had lived to tell the tale. I used to have complete faith in Dodges, but no more.

While driving at 60 mph vehicle suddenly accelerated by itself between 70-75 mph. The brakes were applied but failed to slow down the vehicle. Then, consumer turned the ignition off, and continued depressing the brake pedal which slowed the vehicle down. Two days later, the same failure occurred while driving at 30 mph and vehicle accelerated to 40-45 mph. Consumer immediately put vehicle in neutral and turned the ignition off. Vehicle revved. Vehicle was towed to the dealership, and 3 separate tests were done, but no failure code was found.
