The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. The vehicle has goodyear wrangler hp tires, size p235/65r17. The vehicle has been handling poorly during all types of weather conditions. While driving 25 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal and the tires just skidded for approximately two feet and crashed into the preceding vehicle. The road conditions were dry. The contact was injured and the driver in the other vehicle sustained some neck bruising and pain. The contact believes that the tires are to blame for the crash, not the brakes. The failure usually occurs during any type of sudden stop. While driving above 18-20 mph, the tires will begin to skid. The dealer is unwilling to assist and the manufacturer has not been notified. The contact is a mechanic and believes that the tires are defective and should not have been placed on the vehicle. The failure mileage was 25 and current mileage was 4,044.
The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab lwb. While driving 50 mph or greater, the vehicle vibrates roughly. The dealer and manufacturer were notified and stated that the failure stems from the vehicle's tires. The tire manufacturer rebalanced the tires, but the failure persisted. The dealer sent the vehicle to a different tire shop who was also unable to repair the vehicle. The vehicle manufacturer stated that the tires are at fault, however the tire manufacturer stated that their is failure within the vehicle. When the original tires and rims were tested separately, they did not exhibit any failures. The tire information was unavailable, however all but one of the tires share the same dot number. The contact has the repair orders. The current and failure mileages were 20,000.

Dear sir, I recently purchased 2 tires from. . Read more...
I just bought a new 2005 Dodge magnum 1500 ram long bed from the dealer in November 2005. After the second day of driving on the highway I noticed the truck vibrated a lot at around 65 mph. I returned the truck to get the tires balanced at the dealer and they said that tires needed no balancing and the shaking was fixed. The next day going to work the shaking started at around 63 mph and I returned to the dealer and test drove with mechanic and they balanced the tires. This time one tire was found unbalanced and was told that these truck shake at those speeds and when there is less than 300 pounds on the bed. I made another appointment so that they could do more tests and test drive. Same thing was said. They said everything was normal and nothing could be done and that I need to put 300 plus pounds on the bed to fix the problem. I called the 1-800 customer service for the manufacturer and they called the dealer and told me to go and make another appointment. I went to the dealer the next business day and the service department said that there was no need for any further appointment and there was nothing to be done as those long beds and model shake that way with less than 300 pound on the bed. I could not get another appointment or go on a test drive. At this point I think that is a safety issue because if you were to go on a long trip, and most highways and interstate have speeds of 60 and above, you would not be able to look through the mirrors to merge into lanes or see other cars if the truck is shaking. If you are driving to work and the passenger puts a drink in the cup holder, and you are on the highway, and if the drink spills because of the shaking would that cause a shortage and /or distraction. It would be a safety issue to have to load and unload the 300 plus pounds of whatever from the bed when you have to load plywood or anything that require the dimension of the bed.
Me and my family were returning home from a all day trip in ohio when my right rear tire exploded almost causing a fatal accident. Lucky for me it was my rear tire. These tires are defective and need off the market. They are the goodyear wrangler sra 265/70r/17 tires this tire only had 20171 miles and was original on my 2004 Dodge quad pickup. How many deaths are and will be the result of this tire?.
5/19/05 I had to replace all (4) tires due to a defect in the tire. The tires were coming apart around the crown on every tire. I was told that they could blow at anytime and it was best that I replace them all. I bought the truck they were on used (2001 Dodge Ram 1500), it had 27,291 miles on it when I bought it and the tires were new. I now have 66,556 miles on it. The tread on all tires was good to go for another 40-60,000 miles. But because of the defect and the fact that I travel a lot I had no choice but to replace the tires. I have kept one of them as proof should someone want to see it. The point being that I should not have had to purchase new tires at this time. I have heard of recalls you have had on tires and don't know if this was one of them or not. The number on the tire is 255/70r16 and they were all in a very dangerous state when replaced. I spent 678. 42 on the replacement tires and I don't expect a full refund but I do think that firestone should compensate me due to the fact that it was your tire defect that caused the problem. Which of course caused me to have to pay out money I didn't have to replace all (4) tires for safety purposes. I have a copy of the invoice for the replacement tires with a written note specifying that they were defective tires. I have written to you before, about 2-3 weeks ago and have heard nothing back so I'm going through this again. Please advise me what you are going to do and if you need anymore info from me. I do expect a refund of some type due to your defective tires.

Consumer stated while attempting to rotate tires, he noticed that the tires were being cut by the shock bracket. After further investigation consumer found that front left tire had been cut by the shock bracket. There was no reason for the cut because these were new firestone tires with about 5000 miles on them.
When turning the vehicle sharply, the clearance was obstructing the tire, causing the tire rubber to disintegrate. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer. However, the dealer was unable to duplicate or resolve the problem. The tires rubbed on the bolt head that goes through the shock.
My 2002 Dodge pick up has a cupped left front tire causing a severe vibration. The tire is a goodyear wrangler lt275/70r17. After taking it to the dealership they found nothing wrong with the suspension and alignment. They contacted goodyear and were told that the tire on the truck is too aggressive and that the recommended rotation interval should be 5000 miles. The service manual recommends rotation at 7500 miles normal driving. I rotated at 6000 to coincide with my oil changes. The dealership said that goodyear offered to go 1/2 with me. The cost to me would have been $210. 00 mounted and the dealership could have the tires in that afternoon. I had gone to a goodyear establishment 2 weeks prior to this visit to complain. They told me the same story that the tire is too aggressive and needs to be rotated at between 4000 and 5000 miles. They offered me 2 new tires at the same deal. The difference being was the same tires were $180. 00. They would have to order them as the local warehouse had none in stock. That leads me to several questions: 1. Why did this new vehicle have tires on it that are "too aggressive"? 2. Why do I have to pay for tires that I have been careful to maintain and rotate at the specified interval in the service manual? 3. Why is there no notification to the owners stating that the rotation interval needs to adjusted?.
Dynamic tire separation, sears trail handler tires of size: 26575r16. The incident occurred on a highway and vehicle running at 70 mph. A temporary loss of control of vehicle which almost led to an accident.

Consumer complained that this brand new vehicle was sold with used tires. Consumer went to the vehicle parked in the driveway and discovered that front right tire was flat. The vehicle was taken to a tire shop for repair. The tire shop technician informed consumer that the tire had been plugged before. The dealer denied that the tire was plugged in his possession.
I recently purchased a new 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab. The tire placard on the inside of the door jam has the incorrect tire size on it. It states that the vehicle was manufactured with 15" tires when in fact I purchased it new (3 miles on the vehicle) with 20" tires installed. The oe window sticker shows that 20" tires were installed on the vehicle from the factory. How do I know what the correct tire pressure or correct tire size tire for the vehicle is. This is the second new Dodge that I have bought in the last 2 years and the last had the same problem. Is it not required that the tire placard be accurate.
The consumer noticed all four goodyear, invicta tires at 12000 miles were wore out prematurely.
The tires on my 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 sport model apparently cannot be balanced by the Dodge dealers I have visited in the orlando area. The tires are goodyear p275/60r20. The truck vibrates and the steering wheel shakes at interstate speeds (65-75 mph). Not only is this terribly annoying, but I believe it may be a dangerous defect. The truck only has 14k miles.
The left rear tire experienced a failure.

While traveling at approximately 45 to 50 and mph and pulling a trailer, right rear tire contacted a road hazard which punched a hole in tire. When consumer took vehicle to sam's club tire shop, mechanic stated that they could not replace tire because it had a hole punched in it, and it was "substandard" for that vehicle. Consumer's wife was driving when she heard a bang, stopped and got out, and tire had exploded, causing it to rip off tire.
On may22 a tire separated. Goodyear was notified, an other failed on October 3. Tire was adjusted at goodyear dealer. October 22, the tire separated on the freeway at night. The tred separated and flew into the highway. We were traveling with 2 small children, a young mother, and 2 senior citizens, plus a very valuable junior rodeo horse. A friend came by and helped us get off the highway. Goodyear was notified on September 7, 2000 that these tires were malfunctioning, and did not disclose to us that this was a common occurrence. They were told that we haul. Horses and children, and chose to keep it a secret. These children have suffered a terrible trauma being out on the freeway with this tire failing and causing a terrible noise when it hit the fender, causing damage to it. This is a very scary thing. Goodyear advertises that their tires are safe for families. Not true. (tiresize: 245/75r16)( dot number: tire size: 245/75r16 ).
I was driving during rushhour traffic at about 50mph on to a merge when a high pitch whine started then the next thing the tire was complete gone it was the driver side rear tire I was able to pull over right away upon looking at the tire the tread surface was completely separated from the body of the tire much like a retread the tire had less than 18000 miles on them and the truck is not commercially used and yes the inflation was correct the goodyear dealer in ronkonkoma NY said the tire was so shreded that he could find the origin of the failure he tried to say I must have hit something I was insistant that I didnt he finally covered the tire under unspecified failure but still charged me a prorated price which I am still contesting I have the receipt and would be more than helpful in any investigation that is being conduct I been a nyc police officer for 15 yrs and I have never seen atire do what it did I looking forward to hearing any input NHTSA may have thank you. (tiresize: 265 75r 16)( dot number: tire size: 265 75r 16 ).
Blow-out occured, tire was replaced. The other three tires purchased on the same date have developed cracks at the area where tread meets the side wall. Tires now have approximately 40,000 miles on them. (tiresize: p245/75/16).
Tires are not big enough for the load of the van. Consumer took vehicle to dealership, and they are aware of the problem.
Consumer took vehicle to goodyear for tires. She said that vehicle wasn't driving correctly. Mechanic told her that vehicle was too heavy for the size of tires.
Our first blow out came about 3 weeks after purchase of our new Dodge ram van. After returning to a goodyear dealer, they replaced the one tire. Since that date up until July 1999, I had 11 failed tires. Either blow outs or flats. After many phone calls to the dealer mark thomas motors, Chrysler, mark iii conversion, goodyear (this process took about 4 months), they agreed maybe my tires had a problem. They agreed to pay 200. 00 towards a 500. 00 bill to replace the tires. I had no choice since I really wanted to drive my new van. They said the tires may have been to light to be put on the heavy duty van. I have since had problems with the replacements, also goodyear wranglers. These were to be for heavy duty wear. They are far from wearing well. I have had other problems with this vehicle, but none as serious as the tire problem. My biggest concern is I was told by all agencies that it was not their problem when I first reported this original tire problem. It took everything I had along with a final threat to call my attorney before I got any assistance. After the firestone problem. . I am very concerned and want to bring this problem out to the public. . My children, their friends, my husband and my life are very important to me. To bad goodyear does not feel the same. I have been in contact with my dealer again as of today 112100. Thank you for your time and obvious concerns in this matter. Karen baca. ( dot number: ).
Tires originally installed on the truck have all gone flat (7 tires). The information on the inside of the door recommends (lt225/75r16 tires), the tires that came with the truck are (p245/75r16).
