Turn Signal Switch Problems of Dodge Ram 1500

When putting my turn signal lever to the left my right turn signal comes on. Sometimes the left will be working then it will switch over to the right. Turn my right blinker on and it stos then comes on again stops etc. Just never know what is going o happen. Village motors from millersburg OH said it was the wiring harness which they replaced 2 yers ago when I had the same problem.

When using my turn signals (mainly left signal) the opposite turn signal comes on indicating I am turning right instead of left. Several instances I have come close to a near accident. This is not a consistent problem, but very intermittent. Research that I have done states that the multifunction switch needs to be replaced. Very unsafe to have turn signals working improperly. This issue has been happening for about 2 years that I know of.

When using the left turn signal the right signal sometimes flashes. Sometimes the left signal will flash for a few seconds, then the right signal will flash a few times. Failures are intermittent and inconsistent. Also, the wipers and washers operate intermittently, and the high beam switch works about 20% of the time, sometimes requiring a stop to actuate the switch repeatedly so as not to blind oncoming traffic.

When the left turn signal was tuned on, the indicator light inside and outside would indicate as such and then it would switch to the right turn signal even with the switch in the left turn signal position. Sometimes when the left turn signal was applied, it would switch to the right and then continue to switch back and forth from right to left.

Because this is intermittent we cannot duplicate the problem to determine if the outside bulbs are flashing left or right, therefore we worry they might be incorrectly signaling our intentions to other drivers. While searching on-line for a solution before we determine a repair course of action, we discovered this is common to the Dodge ram trucks from 2002 through at least 2008 model year trucks, but the dealer did not mention or address it in advance of failure. We paid in advance for a seven year 100% warranty with no deductible, which has not expired. We believe Dodge had prior knowledge of the weakness and could have repaired it during the no-deductible warranty period. The passenger door window switch continues to fail. Its a simple plug-in module and I have replaced it twice with the factory part, and now its intermittent again after less than one year. From the mileage its clear we are not wearing out switches.

The turn signal on the vehicle began activating the wrong signal. At times the signal will not work at all. At other times it signals the opposite direction I am attempting to turn. A very dangerous problem with my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 pick-up is occurring on a daily basis when I use the turn signal - windshield wiper - high beam " multi-switch". When trying to signal a left turn by pushing down on the "multi-switch" lever(left turn signal flashes two or three times then right turn signal activates uncommanded) if I try to engage the right turn signal some times it won't signal / flash at all. Much like the ram 3500, the turn signal on my 2006 Ram 1500 began malfunctioning several months ago and continues to do so intermittently. At times, the left turn signal turns on the right blinker; other times, the opposite happens - left turns on right. Still other times, the multi-function switch does nothing at all. In response to similar complaints about the 3500, Chrysler has voluntarily issued an extended warranty on this issue for the 2006 model year. They should do the same for 1500 models as well as this is a very distracting and an obviously serious potential safety hazard.

The turn signal switch will occasionally be faulty causing a hazard when turning or switching lanes. When signaling a left turn the right turn signal will come on and when signaling a right turn the signal does not work. I contacted the dealer and they were all out of the part and waiting for inventory to come in.

Purchased a new 2006 Dodge quad cap at 33,000 miles the turn signal switch malfunctioned (if you signal to turn right the left signal would come on, and vise-versa, high beam would not turn off after getting it turned on, windshield wipers, would turn while signaling, and stop periodically during rain storms). The dealer replaced the faulty switch, and at 54,000 miles the switch malfunctioned again, and is doing same things.

I own 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 mega cab the turn signal and wiper switch works at best some of the time it is impossible to use the turn signals when they are turned on they just go haywire and the windshield wipers have to be turned on and of to get to work then they stop. Turn signal malfuctioned attributed to the front control module according to Chrysler star representative. The dealer was not able to reproduce the failure and was returning my vehicle to me . This is a "known" problem that the dealer was not prepared or able to diagnose. According to rick at chryser star support desk the front control module p/n 56051036ad has a known problem. I was only able to find tthis out after calling Chrysler customer service and insisting that the dealer call their star support desk and open an incident. The rep at the support desk immediately told jesse the service tech that the front control module had a known problem. The intermittent failure created a safety hazard on the highway by not funtioning at all or malfunctioning by indicating a right hand turn signal when the lever was in the left hand turn position.
