1 Turn Signal problem of the 2002 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 10/06/2018

Intermittent turn signal failure. Turn left signal on, and flash then right signal will occasionally flash. Sometimes left and right will alternate. This is not the same as emergency flashers where both lights are on at the same time. This is dangerous, I'm in a left turn lane with my left blinker on but my truck is telling other drivers that I want to turn right. The failure, erratic behavior is random and intermittent.

2 Turn Signal problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 02/27/2016

The turn signals will show reversed so when you turn on the left blinker, the right blinker will blink and vise-versa, or sometimes the blinkers will not engage at all. Sometimes it shows the opposite blinker on the instrument panel and sometimes it doesn't show the blinker on at all. This happens in motion on a city street when changing lanes, in motion while turning, and stationary while waiting to turn.

6 Turn Signal problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 09/20/2014

My truck's turn signal has malfunctioned and when your signaling to go left the rear left turn signal would not activate including the left rear flashers. Several months ago the dealer reflashed my tipm and it did resolved the issue temporarily. What had happened was that the same incident occured but instead when activating the left turn signals it would start working for a couple seconds before jumping activating the opposite turn signal (rightside) almost causing a near collision with other vehicles out on the roadways. I am very frustrated and I don't have $1,000. 00 to have the dealer replace my tipm which I've found via online on several Dodge forums stating that it will definitely rectify and fix the issue.

9 Turn Signal problem of the 2011 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 11/06/2013

My right rear turn signal and my brake light stopped working . I took it to the dealer and it was found to have an issue with the tipm or a fancy fuse box . My complaint is that Chrysler is at fault for this defect which can cause an accident because lack of light signals. They need to identify an immediate and a robust fix to avoid accidents. I never had an issue like this in my other vehicles and the implementation of light signals has been around for over 50 years . Any investigation and follow up would be greatly appreciated. Please see NHTSA action number pe08059. This action did not include enough of the vehicle population!! the model year 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 vehicles are also impacted by this issue as well as the 2006 model which is listed on action pe08059. Many online complaints verify that the vehicle population is greater than just 2006 models. Chrysler must implement an extended warranty on 2007 vehicles as well. When the turn signal is used, the vehicle signals the opposite direction and the problem is intermittent. The problem results in near crash as other vehicles on the road expect the vehicle to turn out of their path but really intend on turning into their path.

15 Turn Signal problem of the 2011 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 12/01/2011

Began when I purchased truck of integrated brake failure later turned into bad instrument cluster, visor short, new brake controller and lots of hours. When starting vehicle wipers come on, no interior lights, no turn signals (inside or outside) no heat, no radio no trailer brakes. Now vehicle has been at Dodge for 2 weeks. They replaced, instrument cluster, wiring harness, tpms and problem remains. Very unsafe to drive as no indicators and wipers constantly on. Problem began around 1 month after purchase and plagues me today. I have extended warranty and I am charged 100. 00 per visit. Customer care will not provide me with options I must dictate my choices. Terrible service.

16 Turn Signal problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 11/21/2011

The turn signal will intermittently malfunction, causing the right indicator to blink though the lever is in the down position which when operational should signal the left indicator. This is a serious safety concern for myself as I have had multiple instances where I'm positioned in the left turn lane attempting to execute a left turn and signaling to oncoming traffic my intentions only to have the right blinker activate and cause traffic to stop abruptly in the lane I just exited. I am not only exposing myself to a rear end collision but I am also exposing the unsuspecting driver being incorrectly signaled to the same potential fate. The inability to caution oncoming traffic of my intentions also creates a potentially hazardous situation in that my turn could startle them causing them to turn sharply or stop abruptly. Both could have detrimental impact provided the conditions are less than perfect in a state that commonly has severe winter weather.

21 Turn Signal problem of the 2003 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 11/01/2011

On my way to work in the dark my headlights went completely out while doing 50 mph, luckily I was on a straight stretch of road and was able to pull over on the shoulder. As I came to a stop the headlights came back on so I started to pull back on the road. Within a few seconds the headlights started to flash off and on. I was able to get the truck into a parking lot off of the road where I sat for awhile with the lights off. I turned the headlights back on and they seemed to work for the time. I made it to work with out the lights going out again. I left the truck running in the parking lot with the headlights on & noticed that they would go out and come back on again. Unable to drive the truck in the dark now due to this problem. This is a huge safety concern that Dodge needs to fix. . Now driving in the day the turn signals will flash incorrectly, if I turn the right signal on it may start flashing the left signal or just quit all together.

The turn signal/wiper/lights assembly appears to have failed. When attempting to make a right turn signal, nothing happens. When making a left turn signal, the right signal happens instead. Now, everything has failed. No brights, no turn signals, no wipers. Researching on the internet, especially on the Dodge truck forums, it seems to e quite a common problem. In fact that is where I got the link to this form to fill out.

Failure Date: 10/01/2011

About 50% of the time when I turn the turn signal to the left the right side blinks. I have to turn them off and try again and it will work. The other day I was entering a on ramp and I signaled to the left and no one would let me in. I had to slow down so I wouldnt get ran off the road but almost got rear ended. I looked down and the right signal was on but the lever was to the left. I could have died. I have also noticed that the hazard button will not stay down. It is always popped up and the hazard flashers stay on and run the battery down. I have to take the button down so the battery wont drain.

28 Turn Signal problem of the 2002 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 07/28/2011

Our Dodge Ram 1500 was working fine one day the next day the headlights, turn signals, and brake lights were not functioning. We checked fuses and anything else obvious. The next day we took it to a mechanic, after half a day of checking he found that the fuse and relay center (integrated power module) which is located under the hood was corroded. This box is not air tight and allows water to get inside and corrode the insides. Dodge dealer advised they replace the fuse and relay center and fcm (front control module) together. The fcm is connected to the ipm (integrated power module). Come to find out the ipm is not sealed from the elements. The circuit board is exposed from the bottom which allows water to splash into the module thereby shorting the fcm. I believed Dodge knows this is a poor design and is unsafe because the new parts have been redesigned which is sealed from the elements. This is dangerous because of obvious reasons. I believe this is a design defect and should be recalled because the wiring system problems result in loss of lighting. For it is very dangerous to drive this way. Per NHTSA info: when is a recall necessary? •when a motor vehicle or item of motor vehicle equipment (including tires) does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. €¢when there is a safety-related defect in the vehicle or equipment. What is a safety-related defect? • the united states code for motor vehicle safety (title 49, chapter 301). Examples of defects considered safety-related--wiring system problems that result in a fire or loss of lighting.
