36 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 1500

37 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2001 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 04/17/2014

I have the same issue as thousands of others with the dash falling apart, this incident happened when the bezel just fell off of the dash onto the steering wheel while traveling down a busy highway. I had to try and steer with one hand while using the other to dislodge the bezel and hold it away from the steering wheel until I could safely pull over to the shoulder of the road. Since then my glove box has fallen off along with the drink holder. I am also concerned that if I am involved in an accident where the air bags may be deployed that the passenger side airbag will cause the dash to explode and send plastic schrapnel inside the cab. This could cause serious damage or death for the passenger and\or driver.

38 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2013 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 03/09/2014

After a weekend of camping I loaded up the truck and was on my way home doing approx 45-55 mph. I stop at a red light and as soon as I get a green I proceed to accelerate except I have no acceleration. I looked down and see "service throttle control". My vehicle has now entered limp mode leaving me to drive 120 miles home on the interstate at 15-25 mph with very limited acceleration if any. Also 3 weeks before this I had sparatic acceleration at stoplights almost as if my truck wanted to jump into the back seat of the car ahead of me. I did not think too much of this as it only happened a hand full a time and thought it to be fuel in the lines but now that ive done my research I nkow this to be the issue. This is a very unsafe condition and needs answers.

39 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2013 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 02/11/2014

While accelerating the throttle goes all the way to the floor and accelerates on its own. It sticks, and will not slow down the only way to stop the vehicle is to turn it off or take out of gear which revs the motor.

40 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2011 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 01/29/2014

I was backing out of my garage, moving very slow (because of our outside cats) with very slight pressure on accelerator, just enough to start to move the truck backwards down the incline out of my garage. Immediately, the engine revved and started racing. The truck picked up speed dramatically and I slammed my right foot down on the brake pedal, not sure what was happening. The brakes howled and vibrated, totally failing to stop the truck. I lifted my foot and then reapplied both feet to the brake without thinking. Brake went all the way to the floor and truck slowed very little, engine still revving. I then pulled the handle to the emergency brake and applied it to stop the truck. The engine was still speeding up and I put it in park, immediately turning the key to kill the truck. I didn't think to look at the rpms, but they had to be high. I got out and checked to see if anything was interfering with the gas pedal. Nothing was, my mat that I've had in it for 2 years lays far to the left of it. The gas and brake pedal seemed to be in normal position. I am taking the truck to the dealership after work today to see what can be done. I am very concerned about the safety issue involved here and the randomness of this. It was like the truck had a mind of its own and just tried to take off. After reading everything online about this happening to so many other people, I'm not sure I can continue to drive this truck. I bought it new with 19 miles on it. Something is very wrong with the Dodge trucks considering the number of people who have experienced this.

41 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2009 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 01/20/2014

I was driving in snow and slippery conditions and as I started to accelerate I could feel that the snow was having an effect on my trucks traction and with that the traction control light illuminated on my dashboard to inform me that one of my drive wheels must be loosing traction. After moving along at highway speeds on dry salt treated pavement the abs, brake, esp,and bas, light all came on and have not gone off since. I am not sure what effect this will have on my braking ability if traction becomes an issue or if heavy braking is involved.

42 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2014 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 11/29/2013

We were driving our new truck (only 13 days old) and came up behind a car going 25mph in a 50mph zone. We slowly accelerated the truck to pass the vehicle. During this acceleration, we saw large amounts of white smoke coming from both tailpipes. Then a brief single chime started from the instrument panel. Because it was a new truck we didn't know what was happening and there was no safe place to pull over. We continued up the road and the chiming increased in frequency and white smoke began to come into the cab and from under the hood. We came to side road and immediately pulled over. We got out and the white smoke continued to bellow from under hood. After truck was turned off, the smoke slowly subsided. We towed the truck back to the dealer on a flatbed.

43 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2013 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 10/23/2013

When traveling with the cruse control on, set or not, some times when pressing the resume button, the cruse control shuts off completely. Requiring you to get your foot on the gas fast. This can be a problem when navigating traffic, and using the cruse to bump up the speed a couple on mph, and instead you just lost some, and the guy behind you thinks you are a jerk for pulling in the passing lane and slowing down. That is if he notices and don't run in to you first. Or you settle back into traffic hit the resume, take your foot off the pedal, and then realize you are slowing down very fast. I don't know how often this has happened but I would guess over 100 time so far. At first I thought I was inadvertently hitting the off button, then I saw my thumb was now where near the off button when it happened. It has been doing this from new.

44 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2013 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 10/21/2013

After coming to slower speeds (45 mph) from highways speeds (75) my vehicle was driving by itself without my foot on the gas. This has happened multiple times and it keeps a constate speed of 35 mph. The furthest I have driven like this is 2. 5 miles.

46 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2012 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 09/18/2013

While driving down the road the engine suddenly dies. All power steering, brakes, etc are gone. I have to coast to a stop and restart the vehicle. This has happened at least 6 times since purchasing the vehicle in August of 2012. One day it happened several times in succession. The most recent incident took place on June 5, 2014. I have taken it to the dealership and they will not do anything as they can not recreate the issue while it is in the shop. I am very concerned as this is the same issue that is happening with the current huge gm recall involving faulty ignition switches . I pull a travel trailer with this vehicle and this is a very dangerous issue to have happening. Up until now it has not happened while towing the trailer but I am extremely concerned for my safety.

47 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 09/04/2013

Stalls radomly while driving at high speeds, at red light, durring city driving.

48 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2011 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 08/14/2013

After a couple repairs on same problem, I was driving to go shopping when etc bolt light and engine light came on again. I was letting off gas to slow down so I could try shutting truck off to reset computer so I could get it to dealer. When I let off gas the truck was accelerating on its own so I held brake down and let up on brake to inch forward to get all the way off road when it accelerated on its own like it was floored. I stopped and put it in park. In park the engine was racing at 3000 rpm. This is a dangerous faulty system. I had taken it to dealer and they reset it saying when they called factory they were told to reset it. If it happens again may be wire harness. I have taken time to file these complaints as I feel this is a deadly issue. These trucks have children riding in them and in other cars that may collide with them. Please research the wireless drive on the Dodge ram 2011.

50 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2012 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 07/15/2013

I was on vacation in smokes going up a hill . I was behind a slow moving car about 25 to 35 mph. When all the sudden my truck starts slugging. It was like it didn't know what gear to get in. It would go high and start jerking then low. Their was a car behind me so finally I just stopped in the road to let the one in front go on. It felt like the transmission was going fall out of the truck. Now it does it just going down the road . I can push the peddle 1/4 way down and it does not respond . It shifts in to a higher gear to soon this transmission in these truck need to be recalled before someone get hurt or killed. You never know what they going to do. Guess its the cause of the vibration at 60 to higher also. I took it to dealer today and they said its all normal . How can it be normal when it was not doing it when I first got it. Guess that is their answer to every problem makes their day easer. We the people of ram owners need help . Can anybody help us we pay to much for those trucks for them to ride like that. And for our peace of mind knowing that we are controlling the truck not the transmission . Don't wait to have it recalled because it might be you that gets hit by a defaulted truck or even worse your kid that is walking into a store. Asking for help before something bad happens. Thank for your help!!.

51 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2011 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 04/11/2013

After having the gas pedal replaced a few months later, now 4/11/2013 the etc bolt light and engine light came on again at city speeds as I slowed for traffic , when I let off the brake the truck speed up very fast without ever using cruse control or touching the gas. I almost ran a red light, had to smash the brake down holding steering wheel tight to stop the truck after turning key off. I then restarted it I put it in drive. When I let off brake the truck took off like heck, almost like it was floored on its own. The car dealer called the for advice on this ongoing problem. They then replaced the throttle body. I do not believe it is the dealers fault, I believe it is a defect in the wireless drive that needs to be addressed by builder and recalled.

53 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2005 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 02/21/2013

1st incident 2/21/driving on a 4 lane highway w/center left turn lanes at 40 when a car cut across from the right to make a left turn. Hit the brakes causing the front to lock up (rear abs only). Truck started stopping, but continued moving forward against the front brakes and into the car. Truck left unusually long skid marks. Police and insurance reports made. Damaged to front bumper. 2nd incident 3/5/driving at 40 on curved section of highway with 2 lanes in direction I was going and 1 lane on opposite side separated by large grass medium when a car pulled out from the left hand u-turn in the medium. Hit the brakes causing the truck to slide straight through curve onto grass shoulder. Truck came to complete stop and heard the right rear spinning in the dirt. Put my left foot on the brake to hold truck from moving. I checked to make sure I was not on the gas. It spun for several seconds before stopping. Truck left normal length of skid marks. Did not smell burnt brakes in rear; possibly not engaged at all. I am currently looking to see if I can test the braking at a local dirt track to verify this issue, and to have outside observation of the occurrence. I have replaced all four disk brakes with high performance brake rotors and brake pads to assist with better braking in the last week. I will post the results here once I can arrange the test. Have not had any problems with normal or heavy braking; only emergency braking. First incident resulted in an accident, luckily no injuries. The drive wheel was in the dirt for second incident; there was not an accident. This is a very serious safety issue, and may be the cause of other accidents and not reported because driver could not realize it happened. It appears to be the problem where the abs system causes excessive heat build up resulting in computer malfunction.

54 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2012 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 11/12/2012

I was on my way home, driving on my street. After I came to a stop on my corner I accelerated to go through the intersection when the truck just took off on it's own. It felt like somebody just slammed on the gas pedal. My first reaction was to slam on the brake pedal. Now I have both feet on the brake pedal and the truck is still wanting to take off. By now I'm in front of my house, both feet on the brake pedal and the trucks rear tires break loose. So now the truck is doing a burnout. My next reaction was to put the truck in neutral. Once I pushed the gear shifter into neutral the transmission jerked so violently it made the truck stall. I called the manufacturer and they sent a tow truck. The dealer has yet to find why this happened.

56 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2011 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 09/21/2012

I have had previous problems before this with engine and etc bolt light on dash, causing the truck to go in limp mode. I was told it was the throttle body and that the truck had to be reset. On sept 21/2012 the etc bolt light and engine light came on in city driving conditions. When I slowed down for traffic using the brake I let off the brake and before I could do anything the truck raced off on its own almost causing a accident without ever touching the gas, the cruse control was not on. I turned off key and dangerously coasted to the side of road. I turned off the truck and re started the truck. At this point I had only engine light so I took it to dealer. They replaced gas pedal and reset it. The truck always scared me after this. I feel that this ids a great danger with the new wireless drive system. This needs to be looked at buy the builder of this truck.

57 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2002 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 07/28/2012

Shortly after entering highway 281, my engine fell on it's face. I pushed the gas pedal but got nothing but rpm's from the engine. I began to move over to the right with no power, little steering, a dash full of error lights, and doing my best not to get hit by passing vehicles. Once I got to the side of the road, the engine wasn't running. I started the engine and checked my gauges. The check engine light was on, the water temp was near the red zone, and the engine sound like bowling ball in a dryer. There was fluid on the ground or smoke from the tailpipes so I felt it was safer to get off the highway with the truck. Near the exit, I pulled in a station where I checked the truck and top-off the water. The sound was like a dropped rocker arm. I had the truck towed to the dealer where they from the "factory" coating inside the oil pan had delaminated and was sucked into the pickup tube. The coating then plugged the screen and pickup tube. I called Dodge cares and they tried to blame me then the oil. I told them I've never used additives, always use mobil one, and I had receipts dating back to the day I drove the truck off the lot new. They claimed this was a non-issue and it had not be reported before now. I have always taken very good care of my vehicles and to be told a manufacturing error is my fault does not set well with me. Now I have to replace the whole engine because some engineer was dumb enough to coat the inside surface of the oil pan. I normally travel during the night into early hours of the day. What if this had happen while I was out in the middle of no-where. I'm handicapped; I couldn't have walked a quart of a mile for help. What if my 70-year mother had been driving my truck at the time! this could have been real bad!!! and then to be told it's non-problem. I have pictures if you want to see them.

58 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2010 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 07/14/2012

I was driving vehicle at 55 mph along undivided 2 lane highway. Differential began to make whining noise and then within 1-2 minutes the rear differential locked up and the drive shaft yoke broke causing the drive shaft to drop to the ground. Due to the speed, vehicle control was difficult while attempting to stop. Once stopped, drive shaft yoke was obviously snapped off and passenger side rear tire had melted rubber from being dragged for a few hundred feet when differential locked up. Vehicle was taken to deal and after 2 weeks determination was made that something seized in the differential and caused internals to be destroyed. Dealer has not mentioned current recalls or investigations. As of now, I have been told that Dodge is not making the parts needed and that a minimum of 1 month lead time is expected before parts become available. I am told no loaner vehicle or rental car will be provided.

59 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2010 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 07/05/2012

I pulled onto a major highway after stopping at a yield sign. The truck reached about 35 mph and suddenly it felt like something was holding the back of the truck and wouldn't let it go any faster. I pushed down on the accelerator but the truck wouldn't go any faster. I took my foot off the accelerator and stepped on the brake and almost came to a complete stop. When I stepped on the accelerator again the truck seemed to be normal.

70 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 11/23/2010

2006 Dodge Ram 1500 big horn edition hemi yesterday I went to pass a truck and floored the pedal, I went to let up and noticed the pedal was stuck. So I slightly hit the brake but that didn't do much at 85 mph and accelerating. Was late at night and no 1 on the road so I let it accelerate and tried messing with the gas pedal with my foot but nothing would pop it out. So with the speedometer buried past 120 I put it into neutral came to a stop on side of the road. Tried messing with the gas pedal with my hand but nothing would pop it out. So sitting with rpms maxed out in neutral and no way to disengage the acceleration I turned the truck off and immediately the gas pedal popped out. I started the truck back up and drove home 50 miles with no incidents I just didn't floor the gas pedal. But next day wanted to see if I could recreate the incident. So on a safe road to try it I floored the pedal and same exact thing it got stuck only way to unstick is turn truck off. I did this 5 times and every time it happens. There is no mats or anything catching on pedal and no way to manually pull the pedal out it is really stuck when this happens. Only thing to get it unstuck is turn truck off and it pops out like instantly. Truck is sitting in my driveway and I am able to recreate the problem at any time. Im posting this for some suggestions on what I should do? possible lawsuit? report it to who? or just take it to dealership and get charged to fix it and no report of malfunctioning truck? if this had happened the first time during daylight or commute traffic not late night who knows what would have happened. And there are few reports of same thing happening to similar Dodge trucks on the various Dodge forums.
