In the 4 years I have owned this 2007 Dodge ram I have had to replace the wiper motor 5 times. I was at my fathers funeral, it was snowing and I started the truck but the wipers would not turn on. The wiper motor was just replaced in late fall of last year, less than 6 months. I've only put 12,000 miles on the truck in 4 years. 102,000 miles on.

Hvac mode door inoperative causing defroster to not operate and only allowing air out of dash vents causing safety issue when windshield is fogged up due to dew or humidity from rain causing loss of visibility. Mode door broken which involves pulling dashboard and evacuating a/c system at a very significant cost. Have read and heard of many complaint due to broken doors in hvac system on these vehicles. During early morning hours with dew and during operating vehicle in inclement weather this causes a very serious safety issue. Fca should cover this as it is an unsafe and poor design causing risk to operator and other drivers on the roadways.

The entire front end of my truck has been going out. Tie rods, sway bar end links, cv axles, upper and lower ball joints. My back glass isn't sealed properly and pours water in the cab when it rains drenching my passengers or whatever I am carrying in the backseat, the water pools up under the seats and I routinely have to mask the smell from it.
Heater motor and air conditioning unit not working by controls.

The wipers motor speed fluctuates when moving the steering column up or down. Sometimes the wipers won't go to high speed until the steering column is moved around. It happens regardless if it is moving down the road or not.
Tl- the contact owns a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that the wind shield wipers were inoperable. The contact stated that the wind shield wipers stopped mid way on the windshield. The contact stated that the high speed settings worked perfectly fine. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for a diagnosed test or repairs. The athens Dodge Chrysler Jeep ram 4145 atlanta hwy, athens, GA 30606 (706) 549-7555 was contacted and informed the contact that the VIN number was not included under a recall. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and informed the contact about the NHTSA campaign number: 09v084000 (visibility). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,500. Dr.
Dodge is aware of this issue. They have updated the part and there are many customer paid repairs. The control box for the heating and a/c system is defective and breaks at the blend door. When this happens, the blend door no longer works and it disables the defroster and a/c. On cool or cold days, the windshield can suddenly fog up and there is no way to clear the view as air does not blow in that direction. On hot days, the system can not push air out enough to keep the driver from excessive heat. The part number is 68004226ac. This part has been supersession chain of about 4 other numbers as Dodge corrected design flaws over the years. I would also note that because this involved a/c and heating, many people do not notify NHTSA of the concern, but it is very well documented and known. It is a very common problem that causes driving issues without being reported.

Wipers won't power on consistently. In fact now can't seem to get them to come on at all. Tried replacing the multi function turn signal/wiper/washer switch without success. Best guess from research is a failed tipm, which is a major expense and has been the subject of previous class action lawsuits. Fortunately it's winter and I discovered they don't work while sitting in the driveway. Yet some days they have worked. Of late they don't seem to come on at all even with the installation of a new multifunction (on the column) switch referenced above.
Tipm low beams are not working caused by plug haveing no power coming out of tipm total integrated power module almost causing me to have a accident from not seeing the road I was driveing on . I have lights atm bypassed tipm with a on /off switch but should really be replaced kinda of a bad engineering on mopar side. And very dangerous.
Driver side heat not working or defrost.

Started vehicle and the following lights on the dash were lit airbag, traction control, esp bad, antilock brake, and the wipers wouldn't work, also the power outlet that only run when the key is turned, I drove the vehicle and all fore mentioned items went back to normal. This has happened on several occasions and the length of time they are lit/ not functioning varies from a couple of. Minute to a couple of weeks.
Blend doors in this year and model vehicle are known to break causing no heat to be diverted to the defroster causing a safety issue because the windshield can not be properly defrosted. This can cause visibility concerns which can result in a crash.
My windshield whippers stop randomly when on low speeds.

I have had the totally integrated power module replaced twice now due to failure. Apparently this is a very common issue in Dodges. It has caused my window defroster, wipers, door locks and windows randomly not to work. Pretty much anything electrical. My passenger airbag goes on and off, regardless of whether or not someone is in the passenger seat. My abs brake system has been malfunctioning and locking up on me. This has been a huge safety issue when there's cold weather or rain and all of a sudden my defroster or wipers arent working or my turn signal is cutting out. The tipm on other Jeep and Chrysler products have been recalled. I don't understand why Dodge hasnt issued a recall. This needs to be investigated farther.
There is a recall on the wiper module and from what I found out is the wiper module according to Dodge is the linkage on the wipers and I took it in and the dealer said the linkage was bent and wouldn't fix it so I took it to a shop and ended up paying 340. 00 dollars to have it fix.
Windshield wipers would work at times and not at other times. Now the windshield wipers are not working at all. Dodge has attempted repair that cost me 500. 00 and the wipers still don't work.
The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. While driving in inclement weather, the contact attempted to activate the defroster, but the air conditioner failed to function without warning. The vehicle was taken to saint marys Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (located at 1237 million dollar highway kersey, PA) where it was diagnosed that the vehicle operated as intended. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 115,643.
My dashboard has hole in it. Its been cracking for a while and really didn't pay att.

While driving in a rain storm with my three children my windows fogged up preventing me from seeing the road. I had to drive with the windows open in the cold rain so I could have limited visibility. I researched the problem and called the Dodge recall 17 number. I figured it was a broken actuator that keeps the air from changing direction. Dodge told me it would be covered if it was part of the recall. The dealer told me it wasn't the actuator and it was the air blend door. The dealer said it would cost $1,500. To fix it. I told them I cant afford it. I looked at the problem and the actuator is broken. Its a $25 dollar part and they want to charge me $1,500 to fix it.
80 mile drive home in rain and windshield wipers stop working! truck has 40,000 miles on it and I'm the original owner. Intermittent wiper stops, starts, runs at different paces. Completely scary to be on the highway at 60 mph and can't see the road. Very dangerous! the company should replace this at no cost. Apparently they have issues with this because it's been recalled, but my VIN wasn't a part of the recall. How can that be? a known issue, but won't take care of a loyal customer with a safety issue that needs to be repaired or the safety of using the vehicle is limited by weather conditions. What if I had an accident and I had been killed on the highway because my wipers didn't work and the company new it was an issue and wouldn't fix it? very disappointed by this problem and the company's lack of responsibility to fix it. I was on an interstate highway with a posted speed limit of 60 mph, following the law, rain started coming down, wipers would not work so I could see the road. Extremely upsetting and scary to be in that situation. Would hate for my wife or daughter to be driving and have this happen to them. Semi trucks were splashing water onto my windshield and I couldn't clear the water to see where I was going! extremely dangerous!!!!.
Takata recall have a major problem with the high speed on the windshield wipers not working. Low speed works well but high speed stops wipers completely.
There is a problem with everything electrically related to the truck. The headlights stay on, I have to disconnect the battery to get them to go off. The windshield wipers constantly remain on. The interior lights, door locks, windows, seats, heat, a/c, radio, dash lights, etc do not work. Once the truck starts, all of the dash warning lights come on. (check engine, abs, low windshield wiper fluid, voltage, low oil pressure, etc) the truck is not safe to drive and is a hazard to my family.
Abs sensor comes on over 55mph. Exterior lighting keeps blowing bulbs and sometimes the tail lights completely shut off, sometimes brake lights inoperable. Windshield wipers work when they want to or only at the highest frequency. All occurs while vechicle is being driven in city street conditions other than on highway when I have to go above 55mph.

The contact owned a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that the damper door, which housed the vehicle's heater cord and defroster control, detached and caused the defrost to no longer function. The contact's visibility was impaired. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the damper door failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. While driving 40 mph, the windshield wipers seized without warning. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 09v084000 (visibility). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 103,000.
Entire dash is cracking and falling apart. Chunks are getting into electrical wiring harness and may cause safety malfunction. Front window defroster not able to work correctly causing visual impairment. I am a ph. D. Polymer chemist and this is obvious safety - manufacturing defect.

The windshield wipers started acting up by going slow, then fast, then slow, then intermittant while the vehicle is in motion. . . Now they do not work all the time when they are on and the vehicle is in motion. The wipers will just stop out of the blue and I have to manually twist them off and then back on again. I have to keep turning the wipers off and then back on for the duration of the trip, and part of the time the wipers will not engage at all. It was pouring down rain and I was on the freeway. It continues to do this and while there is a recall for models of this year, I was told this particular truck does not have a recall for a new wiper module.

At first the wipers would stop randomly (while driving in a rainstorm) but I would fiddle with the switch and they would normally come back on. In the last week they basically quit working altogether other than a random stroke here or there. I replaced the wiper/signal control switch on the steering column yesterday thinking it must be worn out. To no avail, the wipers are not working and after researching on the internet, I find that it is a very common problem. People are replacing parts, spending money at service centers and not getting the problem solved. I live in the rainy northwest and I can tell you that it is a big safety issue not being able to see in front of you while navigating I-5 at 70mph at some random point during a trip. This problem started over a year ago but was always a momentary thing and would resolve itself, but it is now a permanent problem and I wish I knew what part replacement would resolve it.
Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle's ac unit would jam when an attempt was made to switch the unit to or from defrost. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnose to be the blend door actuator and the unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact also referenced recall 09v158000(visibility) however the vehicle's year and VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 110000. Kh.
Passenger wiper blade not working while in motion on interstate I-5 freeway in portland oregon during rain fall causing wipers to lock together for a period of time until I could pull over and dislodge from each other after that only driver side works.
Turn signals work sporadically. This is a daily issue. Signal left and the right signal comes on. Signal right and maybe the left turn signal comes on, or maybe not at all. Sometimes turn signals randomly switch back and forth between left and right on their own. Many times turn signals don't work at all. Once the wipers did not work. Hazard lights sometimes do not work. I have had the multi-function switch replaced twice under warranty and twice again since. Still have the issue. I believe this is a safety concern as the turn signals are telegraphing the wrong information to other drivers. Also possibly related the oil pressure gauge in my instrument panel will not work 3-4 times a year. Next time I start the truck it works fine. All this happens when the vehicle is in motion, and when stationary, forwards, backwards, straight, or turning.
Intermittent wipers do not work or work erratically when raining.
In driving rain, and on a major highway, the windshield wipers suddenly stopped working. I had to repeatedly turn them on in order to clear the rain from the windshield. There was a recall for this very defect and for this year vehicle. I called Chrysler, but its customer service person, dennis, refused to honor the recall, claiming the VIN wasn't included. He also, magnanimously, offered to "reimburse" for the expense "if the recall is expanded. " unacceptable response and obvious, blatant lack of concern for safety, and especially for this vehicle which it knows has this very defect.
Totally integrated power module (tipm) has been dangerous. All four windows went down while truck was unattended and locked several times. We replaced the expensive tipm and car stopped doing that. A few months later, we found out that just one electrical item can cause the entire tipm burn out that affects almost everything in the car. For us it was the backup camera that had a short. It caused air bags, seat belt safety, windshield wipers, defrost/fan, backup camera, locks not to work. Dealership had to replace tipm again. We also believe the tipm may have had something to do with our transmission locking into gear.
The heater/ac control module went out on the vehicle. I brought it in to my mechanic on 9/24/15 he checked with the dealer they said the part is on back order and there are 59 back orders of this part in front of mine. They said it would be in on 11/9/15. On 11/9/15 my mechanic inquired and found the part delayed now until 12/2/15. This is a crucial element as I do not have defrost capabilities and the automatic lights do not come on. In rainy weather and now as we are hitting winter this is a safety hazard. For t here to be 59 of these parts on backorder tells me there is an issue with this part. The 2009 Dodge ram has had quite a few serious recalls. I wanted this to be out there so NHTSA knows the customer service Dodge isnt providing their customers or their lack of regard for this safety issue.
