7 Defogger problem of the 2010 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 01/06/2014

It is -15 degrees fahrenheit today in wisconsin at noon. Something in the hvac system quit working. The heat works great, but when I change the selector from floor/vent/defrost nothing happens. The heat only blows on the floor. I hear a constant (flapping) noise from under the dash board. I have tried several times starting and turning off the truck, adjusting the selector knob to apply the air to all positions and it still only blows on my feet. Keeps on flapping under the dash board. How is it (safe) to drive without having operational windshield defrost. I looked online at several forums and have seen many others with the same problem. Hopefully they will report the problem as I am doing now. Its going to be cold tonight again since it will be winter around here for another 2-3 months, so I hope I am safe till it get fixed. I truly hope this report gets fixed as this in my opinion is a serious safety issue. Its like driving blind or myself and others with this problem may as well be texting and driving if we cant see out the windshield. Sorry if this comes off with an attitude. Not intended that way.

8 Defogger problem of the 2009 Dodge Ram 1500

Blend door actuator failure. Loud knocking noise coming from inside of the dash, the result of stripped gears inside the actuator slipping. Plastic gears became worn and ineffective, causing failure in the blend door actuator. Safety is compromised when defrost can fail at any given time causing the driver to lose line of sight with the road and potentially resulting in an accident, and/or loss of life, limb, or eyesight. Needs recall immediately to correct malfunctions.

10 Defogger problem of the 2009 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 08/19/2013

Heater/ac stopped working right after I had recall service done to "reprogram hvac control head and inspect/replace actuator". Heater and ac not working and there was a popping noise coming from under dash before recall work done. After recall service done, popping noise went away, but continued to have problems off and on with ac and heater not working. Within month after recall service work performed, ac and heater stop working altogether and dealership tells me hvac control head is now bad and needs replacing to the tune of $400. 00. They say it has nothing to do with hvac recall and the work they performed. Dodge customer service give me same speech. Not their fault, etc. Etc. I just find it very strange that after my truck was serviced for this recall notice, not the same part is "bad" and I have to replace it at my expense. Come on Dodge---stand behind your product. Shopping for another truck for someone else in the family. Already own this Dodge and one other. However, done with Dodge products as I am tired of the recall notices and them not standing behind their (faulty) products!.

15 Defogger problem of the 2009 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 02/05/2013

My 2009 ram doesn't have any defroster. The recall for the ac module was done on 5/12/2012 at bald hill Dodge warwick ri. At the time of doing then recall the dealer installed a defroster actuator in the truck which was not part of the recall. Over the past couple of weeks I have noticed a banging noise coming from the dash. I took the truck to the dealer for the problem of noise and a malfunctioning defroster. I was told they would have to remove the dash and look for the problem and it my take 8 hours to do so and I might have to pay for the service. I pointed out that according to the slip from 5/12/2012 it only too 2 and a half hours to do the recall and change the oil. I have found out thru then internet that this is a common problem with this model . I don`t see why I have to pay close to a &1000 for a problem that was supposed to be fixed . If you have any questions please call me at [xxx] thank you information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6). . . Updated 02/25/13.

17 Defogger problem of the 2002 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 10/30/2012

The heater "vent control" has stopped working on my truck and I can no longer select "defrost" in my truck. This is a huge safety issue, as the vehicle cannot be driven without clear visibility through the front windshield. Apparently, this is a common issue for Dodge ram trucks and has never been recalled. I cannot defrost my windows as a result. I've been hold it's the hvac blend doors.

18 Defogger problem of the 2009 Dodge Ram 1500

19 Defogger problem of the 2002 Dodge Ram 1500

No heat or a/c on driver's side. It has dual climate zones. Looked on online forums and saw others are having same issues.

20 Defogger problem of the 2005 Dodge Ram 1500

Ventilation no longer will change from top vent to lower vent.

21 Defogger problem of the 2005 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

Driving at approximately 35 mph one of the defroster vents broke and fell into the ductwork. Later that day noticed the dash had cracked. As this problem has just started on my truck I have seen from other Dodge rams where this will progress and the dash will fall in, damaging wires and circuits. This is a potential fire hazard as well as possibly causing systems such as headlights, etc. To stop working when needed most. Dodge informed me that if they looked at the dash, and I decided not to pay to fix the dash, they would charge me $85 for their time. That is not acceptable on so many levels. Dodge should be forced to do something about this.

22 Defogger problem of the 2005 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 07/30/2012

The blend door on the 2005 Dodge ram goes bad easily. When this happens the ac/ and heater re-circulation is damaged. This causes visibility issues. This is a very common issue. I'm surprised this has not been recalled yet or even looked into.

23 Defogger problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 07/26/2012

Upon starting the vehicle, I turned the climate control to the defrost setting. After 5 minutes, no air was blowing to the windshield, only from the dash vents. No floor air, no defroster air, only dash vent air. Temperature adjusted from warm to cold just fine, however. I called the dealership that I purchased the vehicle from, was told to bring the truck in for a diagnosis at a fee to provide an estimate. I called a second dealership, was told by the service manager that by my description, the "recirc" door and "mode 1" door needed replacement. The "mode 2" door might also need replacement, but that my "blend" door is working. The estimated cost to repair would be around $1300. 00 to get my defroster functioning again. I asked if this was a common issue, he said it was very common. I asked if there was a recall on this issue, he replied that there were no recalls for comfort features, that he was aware of. I would think that the defroster was a safety issue for visibility while driving.

24 Defogger problem of the 2009 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 06/01/2012

The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated the vehicle exhibited an abnormal popping noise when the air conditioner was activated. 25 Defogger problem of the 2009 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 04/02/2012

I received a recall for my truck that had something to do with the air conditioning/heating. When I took my truck in to have the recall fixed, it was already not working. There is a knocking up under the dashboard, air/heat only comes out vents in dash and defrost, it will not blow out of other vents such as floor, etc. . I took my vehicle to the dealer to get the recall and problem fixed. Obviously my truck was already faulty due to the recall issue. When I picked up my truck, it was still "knocking" and the air/heat was not blowing out of all vents. I told the dealership it was not fixed and he told me that they fixed only what they were supposed to and I would have to "pay" to have the problem fixed! the problem occurred "as a result" of the recall, and I feel it is there responsibility to fix it. Then in July 2013, I called the same dealer to have a new recall fixed (rear axle pinion nut-NHTSA 13v-038). They did not have the part and needed to order it and told me they will call me when it arrived. Today, November 5, 2013, I still have not received a call from this dealership to fix my rear axle pinion nut. I have been taken advantage of by this particular dealership over and over again. The only time I take my vehicle to this dealership is to fix recalls and they still find ways to take advantage of me. For all other needs of my truck I go elsewhere! just need some direction on the pinion nut. I would like to have it fixed before it stops working and results in a crash. In addition, I still feel that the dealership should fix the air/heat issue, due to that fact that it stopped working as a result of the defect. I do not believe it will cause a crash unless it changes and quits blowing out of the defrost vents.

26 Defogger problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 02/04/2011

The contact owns a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle was left parked with the engine on and the defroster and heater activated. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was told that the blend air door failed and was not allowing the proper amount of air to flow from the vents. The vehicle was in the process of being repaired. The failure and current mileage was 56,000. The VIN was unavailable.

The heater in my truck does not blow in the direction that the control knob is directing it to. This is an ongoing problem according to carcomplaint. Com with this make, model and year. I had it repaired on 03/02/2010 at a cost of almost 800. 00 dollars. The problem has returned again on 11/14/2010. In order to repair the problem the vent deflector door must be replaced, which involves removing the entire dash. That is what I'm told by the dealer. Here in texas some days tend to be hotter then others from time 2 time. . . I have a fully loaded 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 that I honestly enjoy driving; although my problems begins with that [xxx] blending door. . . Cool a/c air only blows from the driver side which inreturn leaves my passenger side warm. . . Not good when I got a lil honey on that side asking me why I'm not sweating like she is. . . The part is only $43 bucks to replace. And it's been replaced 3 times already. Cheap ass plastic. . . . Also the rubber sealing around the sunroof isn't thick enough to with stand the opening and closing for a long period of time. . Go figure. . . Something needs to be done ASAP or Dodge might find alot of there vehicles on the side of the rode behind plain bs.

32 Defogger problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 07/02/2010

The a/c won't blow on 1, 2 or 3, only on high and I've heard this from other owners who own the Dodge ram bighorn. Our vehicle s a 2006 with only 33,690 which we just purchased from the Dodge dealership located in merritt island florida. We purchased this vehicle 5 days ago and the a/c was working fine, pulled up in our driveway last night and just stopped working. My husband went through the low to high settings and the only setting it will work on is high. In researching this on the internet, we've seen this complaint on this vehicle over and over. Has Dodge put out a recall on this model yet?.

34 Defogger problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 05/10/2010

While driving on the interstate a few weeks ago, my windshield fogged over. Unbeknownst to me the recirculation door on my '06 Dodge Ram 1500 truck had broken. Because the broken door blocked the airflow for the defroster, I could not clear the fog from the windshield. I was extremely lucky that I was able to roll the driver's side window down in time to keep from rear-ending the car in front of me. When I took the truck to the local Dodge dealer, they indicated that this is a very common problem for certain ram trucks. As a matter of fact, the dealer also said that they keep the "newly designed" housings in stock to ensure that they can meet the demand for the repairs.

35 Defogger problem of the 2003 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 04/20/2010

There is a defect in Dodge ram truck recirculation doors, inside the duct work. The plastic door breaks where the hinge holds it. The door then falls over the interior fan and causes the air flow to stop. A telltale sign is the fan making a roaring noise with little or no air flowing.
