Seven problems related to brakes failed have been reported for the 1996 Dodge Ram 2500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Ongoing / intermittent problem with vehicle experiencing brake failure on five occasions when shifting in reverse. Dealer notified, and informed consumer vacuum system needed to be replaced, and was unable to replace it due to national back orders.
Rotors and disc changed twice. Brakes have been changed every 10-15,000 miles. Consumer doesn't haul anythng to wear brakes out. Serviceman said braking system was inadequate, causing extended stopping distance, light came on, and brakes failed.
Rear brakes failed, and vehicle pulled either to the right or left, incident occurred at any time and at any speed. The dealer could not duplicate the problem. It resulted in three accidents.
Entire braking system failure cannot be repaired due to engineering defect. Vehicle involved in three collisions due to brake failure.
