9 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 2001 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 12/01/2000

The abs goes off over minor bump such as the warning bumps approaching toll booths in illinois. This is a problem slowing from highway speeds to a complete stop. The brakes lose pressure like near complete brake fade and one must apply excessive pressure to stop the truck. This could lead to rear end collisions. I have repeatedly complained to barrington Dodge and filed a complaint with Chrysler customer service. I would expect concern about customer safety after the Ford tire recalls and deaths. Thank you for your time.

I have had the truck to 3 different dealers at chryslers request for a total of 6 repair attempts and 28 days in the shop. The last visit was for 8 days and included leaving my truck and trailer yet the truck still isn't repaired. Failure Date: 11/23/1999

I have had the steering damper replaced several times. It is unknown to me why this happens and the dealer has no answer either. All the components on this vehicle are "heavy-duty". Braking is becoming more of a problem as the brakes wear down. The truck only has 21,000 miles on it. The power door locks I have no idea about they just stopped working one day, but, they do work w/ the remote entry. I also noticed the horn actuator is hard to activate due to the hard "leather" for the airbag cover. The driver's door keeps getting missaligned, I have never heard of a vehicle having this much of a problem like it.

20 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 1999 Dodge Ram 2500

26 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 1997 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 03/20/1999

Vehicle makes a hard left turn when braking. Dealer advised it to be front end alignment, ( which they don't do) or brakes or tire problem. Brakes were replaced, front end aligned, tires were replaced without any impact on condition. Further research and time and $ spent finds Chrysler has a TSB #05-03-97 that tells you to put a spacer between the hub and wheel of varying sizes untill you find one that changes the front end geometry till it nolonger pulls. This is after you have filed brake componets. If this does not cure the problem , then you are to replace the entire hub assy which then may cause you to have to go through the trial and error shim business again. This vehicle is dangerous to drive and warranty including chryslers maximum wrap warranty will not cover this fix accourding to auffenburg and a dealer in olathe KS I stopped at last week. A person , if they had the funds could literally spend thousands of dollars on trial and error fixes on this braking problem on Dodge 4x4 pickups. Also cape girardeau mo atty don thomason had a client that was injured in an accident with a pickup that had the same problem after multiple attepmt to fix it. Chrysler needs to fix this before people are killed.

District manager called to resolve problems. On 3/30/99 he worked for 2 days replacing parts. Problem still exists today. Dodge seems not to be able to resolve the problem. Brake pull is severe enough to be a huge safety problem for my family and I.

34 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 1996 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 09/15/1996

Dealership and Chrysler have acknowledged that this is a known fault and a technical service bulletin has been filed with NHTSA yet they refuse to resolve the problem citing that the vehicle has been modified with an aftermarket lift kit. I have been in contact with one other Dodge vehicle owner with the same problem. His name is richard hardy (714) 964-0483. He has also been denied warranty work. He, along with a local suspension shop have worked to identify the problem with the brakes and suspension. Unable to locate the problem, he submitted to Dodge's demoands of removing the lift kit ( this is a difficult 6 hour process). The problem still existed when the lift kit was removed. When the vehicle was returned to mr. Hardy after the warranty work was completed it still exhibits the same problem. As this is a known problem and existed prior to the installation of the lift kit, I have refused to remove my lift kit as it has no bearing on remedying the problem. I am appealing to you to help me resolve this issue.
