1 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 06/13/2023

The frame has rusted completely through on both driver and passenger sides. The integrity of the frame is severely compromised and may collapse at anytime. This type of failure could be absolutely catastrophic to everyone who may be involved. It has not been confirmed by a dealer, nor has it been inspected by any others yet. It but was inspected by a ase-certified mechanic and confirmed. I am a disabled veteran, and I am not even sure how to move the truck with its condition for further inspection. The truck is currently available for inspection at my residence. I purchased the truck in July, 2019. I was unaware of the extent of the rust until this past year. I noticed a small hole in the frame, and currently, the frame looks to be missing 20% of its circumference.

2 Service Brakes problem of the 2000 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 05/18/2022

In muskogee county. By the grace of god, I finally gain control of my vehicle, after applying the brakes that failed on me, to avoid an accident, I pulled over to inspect my vehicle. I did a walk around inspection and noticed left rear side a puddle of oil on the ground, a oil leaks right next to the fuel tank inside the frame. After getting into my vehicle I noticed, my abs light come on. So, I had it tow home. Prior to this I did not have an inspection to see it was safe to drive and I did not report this to the police.

4 Service Brakes problem of the 1996 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 04/24/2019

While driving on a city street, I lost my power steering, causing me to almost have a rear end collision with the vehicle in front of me. I had my truck towed to a local dealership, they found my brake system to be contaminated and told me that all parts of the system with rubber in them would have to be replaced. After about a week and a half, I was informed that they could find all the parts except one, the combination or proportioning valve. I paid for the diagnostics test and had the truck towed to another local dealer-I needed a second opinion, not understanding why a dealership could not fix my truck. I told the second dealership my story, they did a diagnostic test of their own and came up with the same exact conclusion, including the fact that they could not find the combination valve. I bought another car and was planning on selling the truck, but now am unable to do that, as it has no brakes and they can't be fixed. I'm writing this in hopes that someone else that is looking to buy a truck like this understands the situation if this problem happens to them.

6 Service Brakes problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 06/18/2018

My truck is only used for towing a fifth wheel, thus the low mileage. On a trip, the truck stalled with no warning on the freeway, lost power, power brakes and power steering in the 2nd from right lane. I was barely able to pull it over and stop, in an unsafe area. 4 hrs later a tow for truck and 5th wheel was arranged. The tacoma Dodge dealer replaced the lift fuel pump with an in tank lift fuel pump. Apparently the block mounted pump "always fails around 70k miles", which is what my truck has logged. The heat kills the pump. I paid $2106. 47 for the repair. The new pump failed in less than 6 months or 2k miles. The everett dwayne lane dealer has the truck now for two weeks, and cannot get the warranted pump replaced for another 2 weeks due to back order from mopar. I believe the pump to be a defect causing extreme safety hazard, as no warning loss of power steering and brakes are affected. Seniors often drive RV's, many would not be able physically to handle the rig with this failure. Eventually a death will occur, and probably many already have that I am unware of. Recall should be immediate. Sincerely, don reynolds.

7 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 05/25/2018

Vehicle cuts often without any indication that anything is wrong. It does it any speed and there is no power steering, no brakes. This happened the first time at freeway speed and nearly caused a rear end collision because of the sudden and nearly uncontrollable stop.

8 Service Brakes problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 2500

It is a power brake pedal that is made to move backward and forward. The brake pedal moves from left to right. Never moved at all before. Something must have broke. Does not feel or look to be safe.

9 Service Brakes problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 12/02/2017

I have the laramie package which has adjustable pedals as option. There's is a bushing that the brake pedal mounts to the armthis bushing breaks or wears out and causes the pedal to swing left and right. This is a safety issue which causes your foot to slip off pedal as it swings. I have done research and this incident is not isolated to my year model. There are several right ups on this same same problem. This is not an easy fix as the steeering column has to be removed. It also is not cheap. The parts are on national back order to to the amount of pedals failing. This is a huge safety risk or concern. I have read several forums to where people have had them replaced only to have the same issue. I was stopped at a major intersection and foot slipped off pedal. Sometimes while driving and going to stop, pedal moves to the left and I have to concentrate on where my foot is to apply brakes. Please look into other similar complaints and help us get this serious issue fixed.

19 Service Brakes problem of the 2014 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 10/24/2014

While towing a travel trailer, accelerator was applied to allow me to pass some slow semi's. There was no response from the accelerator as I held it down for about 10 seconds. Exhaust brake engaged!! it wasnt even on!! however, I had the cruise control on but not engaged. I quickly engaged the resume feature and used the accelerate function of the cruise control to speed up to avoid an accident. This has happened on multiple occasions but this by far the scariest. Also the exhaust brake engages when not even on at random coasting times when not hauling anything. It is very dangerous to not be able to control a big truck due to these glitches. Also two of these firestone tires have worn bald at 18000 miles. Accelerator has no response when a quick stop and go transition is applied.

Integrated trailer brake does not brake with trailer. The truck has to do all the braking for vehicle and trailer causing very unsafe towing. Chrysler is not helpful with assisting my local dealer to remedy this issue even after I have already paid for the unit to be fixed.

26 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 01/15/2014

Reference the below complaint, and others: date complaint filed: 03/02/2015 component(s): power train , suspension date of incident: 10/01/2014 NHTSA id number: 10691476 driving approximately 50 mph on winding two lane country road, while executing curve to right, after passing over a slight bump in the road, front suspension entered what is commonly called a " death wobble". Steering quickly became ineffective, braking was diminished due to loss of firm contact between front tires and road surface. Wobble is regenerative in that it continues to get worse until vehicle speed is reduced to 15-20 mph. I was unable to precisely control direction of travel, crossing into oncoming lane before reducing speed enough to regain control. Vehicle shakes so bad as to dislodge items from the dash and console pockets. This event repeated several times at a particular spot on my way to work, where there was an irregularity in the roadway on a straight section of paved two lane road. Behavior was the same as described above. The last even was while pulling a twenty two foot trailer on a major interstate, while negotiating a right hand curve on a down hill merge lane at freeway speed of approximately 60-65 mph. Again I was unable to maintain my lane of travel and a crash would have resulted if any other traffic had been near me! definitely a saftey issue! local dealership assured me a new steering damper would cure the problem. (it didn't) I eventually fixed the problem myself by researching what other owners had done online (there is a lot of info on this issue!), and replacing the pitman arm, drag link, tierod, and adding a steering shaft stiffening brace. The drag link, tierod and tierod ends were a mopar part kit. Much heavier construction than the original part. Response to a known issue? this issue makes the truck nearly un drivable.

The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact was driving 65 mph when the vehicle failed to respond to braking attempts. The contact stated that he had to place the vehicle in neutral in order for the brakes engage. In addition, the engine rpms were excessively high. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis but no cause for the failure was determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 31,000. Updated 04/14/lj updated 04/22/14.

28 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 12/08/2013

I was driving up to a stop sign when my brakes got very hard. When I went to turn, it was almost impossible. Every time I push the brakes the steering locks up but when I accelerate I get the steering back. I almost ran off the road into a ditch.

29 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 05/25/2013

Truck suddenly started bouncing all over the road. Felt as though all four tires had suddenly gone flat. Extremely difficult to maintain control and went into oncoming lane sideways. Inspection did not show any failed component (tire, steering system, etc). Check engine light illuminated for a day, then went off. Light illuminated again, with no indication of problem. Loss of control has happened three more times since first occurance. Similar speeds during each event, with two different operators. Serious difficulty retaining control to stop the vehicle and roll over/crash concerns preclude attempting to duplicate event. Dealership has been unresponsive to date. I will never trust the oncoming Dodge truck until this is addressed. People are going to die. It is sad.

30 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 04/06/2013

I have owned this truck from day one. 2007 Ram 2500 4x4 quad cab 5. 9. 50,000 miles. Truck has been pulling to the right for a while. I took vehicle in for alignment at dealership. They set it to specs. Brought it back about 40 days later to realign, still pulling to the right. Service advisor said that I needed to buy an offset ball joint in order for them to get more adjustment and to correct alignment at a cost of $622. 00. Said that this is common problem. I called & emailed Dodge/Chrysler asking why I would have to buy a part to correct a stock factory item. They called dealership to verify problem and told me what the dealership said it needed and that was all. Consumer shouldn't have to buy aftermarket parts to fix a stock item.

31 Service Brakes problem of the 2003 Dodge Ram 2500

33 Service Brakes problem of the 2003 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 11/02/2012

Driving in the mountains on dirt road heard horrible sounds in the front of truck. Noticeably louder and very concerned to driving the truck any more, my two small children and I 9 months pregnant are very lucky. Made to our home 15 miles away. I called mechanic and truck was in the shop next day.

34 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 10/21/2012

Was driving under cruise control at 75mph on i95 north in the middle lane, and noticed my truck started slowing down and engine had stalled. Power steering and power brakes went out and there was traffic coming up behind me in all three lanes, so I had difficulty steering the truck off to the side of the road. All electronics remained on, key was still in on position, and there were no status indicators anywhere on the instrument panel or evic to indicate there was a problem. The fuel gauge was still over half full. Once the truck came to a stop, I put it back in park and turned the key off. I was then able to start the truck back up and continue driving the rest of the way home without another incident. I took the truck into the dealer the next day and they were unable to find any fault codes from the ecu. Because there were no fault codes found, the dealer was unable or unwilling to perform any repairs to prevent this dangerous condition from re-occurring. So, I've done some research of my own on this condition and found that Chrysler has had identical problems in other vehicle models for which they issued a recall (NHTSA campaign id number: 11v139000). It seems this problem is caused by a loss of communication between the key fob and the wireless ignition node (win). This wireless connection is required to start the vehicle, but for a glitch in the wireless connection to result in a complete engine shutdown while traveling at high speed is a huge safety issue. I am now afraid to drive my truck on the highway unless I stay in the right hand lane.

The first time the failure occurred, the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that the calibers would seize and create the smoking. The calibers were replaced but the failure persisted. The dealer then replaced the rotors but the repair did not correct the problem. The vehicle had not been taken back to the dealer. The failure mileage was 120,000 and the current mileage was 122,000.
