36 Other Fuel System problem of the 2012 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 12/15/2014

I received a recall notice in early December 2014 stating that there is an issue with a diesel fuel heater electrical connector on my truck that may lead to o-ring failure and potential fire. I have contacted the dealer twice and as of last contact they have no idea when a "fix" might be available. Since possible fire is the risk and the dealer, initially, did not even know they was/is a recall, I am concerned. The dealer suggested that I contact Chrysler since the dealer knew nothing about it. Since I was talking with the Chrysler dealer that I purchased the vehicle from, I assumed I was talking with Chrysler. It has been over a month since my last contact with them and I have heard nothing to date. Can you help or provide additional information, please.

38 Other Fuel System problem of the 2012 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 12/01/2014

Dodge has issued a recall from October 7 2014 for recal p65 / nhtsa14v-635 stating that the diesel fuel heater may overheat leak diesel and cause smoke under the hood or catch fire. After having service at the dealer they stated they have no fix yet or parts for this safety issue which may cause a fire, here are their words from their website under recall status for my VIN incomplete but repair parts are not available. This is the second safety issue where Dodge ram has had a safety issue but no parts the first was the left tie rod where they had no parts available. Why are they allowed to issue safety recalls and have no parts to fix issues that could cause the vehicle to catch on fire or smoke this places people on the road at risk.

39 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 12/01/2014

Recall: p65/NHTSA 14v-635 : diesel fuel heater electrical connector: received first recall in December, 2014. Took truck to dealer (haddad Dodge, bakersfield, CA) and was told that they did not have the parts and would call when parts were available. As of 5-12-15, no call and no repair. Received another recall notice in mail 5-10-15 for same safety issue. This is listed as an "important safety recall". If this is so important, then why has 5 months gone by with no parts and now a second notice sent. It would appear that Dodge corporate/dealers should be held accountable for getting the parts and making the repair. I consider 5+ months as an unreasonable amount of time. Otherwise, take the red label off the front of the notice and remove the word "important" from the label.

42 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 11/25/2014

While driving my 2006 Ram 2500 diesel pickup at normal highway speeds the check engine light illuminated without any other abnormal instrument panel indications or change in vehicle performance. By the time I was able to safely pull the truck over to the shoulder of the highway (approx 1. 5 miles) I noticed a very strong diesel smell. Upon looking the truck over I noticed an excessive amount of diesel fuel dripping all the way from the engine compartment to the rear bumper. Diagnostics reviled the high pressure fuel line from the fuel rail to the number 4 cylinder split at the engine side connector and this caused a large amount of diesel fuel to be sprayed into the engine compartment, hot exhaust components and underside vehicle parts. . The local Dodge dealer (small town dealership) had the #4 fuel line in stock, the part was an updated design from the original part with an improved clamping bracket. Review of several internet locations reviewed this is a very common malfunction for the cummings 5. 9l diesel engines. My opinion is the known problems with this part combined with the potential for a engine compartment fire is sufficient rational for a manufacture's recall to ensure the safety of operators and passengers in the 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup.

43 Other Fuel System problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 11/18/2014

I was driving my 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 5. 9 diesel truck to work during rush hour morning traffic at approximately 25 mph when the check engine light came on and a few seconds later the truck suddenly accelerated on its own to about 3500rpms. The roads were iced over from a previous snow storm. Due to the sudden acceleration on the ice, the rear tires broke traction and started sliding sideways before I could react to the sudden acceleration. I immediately applied the brakes with no results. Truck continued to slide sideways into the oncoming lane of traffic when as sudden as the acceleration happened, the rpms dropped down to an idle and I was able to get the truck under control. Luckily, there were no other vehicles in the oncoming lane. Dealership has truck now and is telling me the fault code indicates a bad acceleration pedal position sensor. If there would have been any vehicles in the oncoming lane of traffic at the time the truck accelerated on its own, it would have absolutely caused an accident and could have killed someone. I have never felt so panicked when the truck took off on its own. I cannot describe the feeling of helplessness I felt when this happened. If it hasn't happened already, this will certainly, at some point cause a tragic accident with the loss of life if not addressed immediately. I have read several online blogs where this seems to be an issue in other 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 5. 9 diesel trucks. These trucks need to be recalled immediately and parts re-designed to not allow a sudden increase in acceleration.

45 Other Fuel System problem of the 2012 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 11/10/2014

Have connected dealer twice, have contacted Chrysler group recall center but vehicle is not fixed. Dealer tells me they don't have the part to fix. Chrysler did not respond after connect notice.

46 Other Fuel System problem of the 2012 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 11/02/2014

Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated that while the vehicle on and in park, underneath the cabin of the vehicle caught fire which causing the vehicle to engulf into flames. The contact did not disclose if a police report was filed or not and who extinguished the fire. The vehicle was destroyed. 47 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 10/24/2014

While towing a travel trailer, accelerator was applied to allow me to pass some slow semi's. There was no response from the accelerator as I held it down for about 10 seconds. Exhaust brake engaged!! it wasnt even on!! however, I had the cruise control on but not engaged. I quickly engaged the resume feature and used the accelerate function of the cruise control to speed up to avoid an accident. This has happened on multiple occasions but this by far the scariest. Also the exhaust brake engages when not even on at random coasting times when not hauling anything. It is very dangerous to not be able to control a big truck due to these glitches. Also two of these firestone tires have worn bald at 18000 miles. Accelerator has no response when a quick stop and go transition is applied.

48 Other Fuel System problem of the 2012 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 10/10/2014

Recall p65, received notice in oct. 2014, contacted Dodge day letter was received. Asked if vehicle was safe to drive at which time they stated "we can not tell you if your vehicle is safe or not", asked to schedule service and informed no parts at this time. . . Fast forward 5 months. . On the Dodge website it clearly states my vehicle must be inspected for fuel leak on this recall. . . So I call Dodge and once again I'm told no parts yet, they don't even know what parts are needed, so I once again asked if the vehicle was safe to drive and that I won't have an engine fire and received the same response as last time. . . I asked if at least my vehicle can be inspected to see if it has a fuel leak so I k ow if it's safe to drive and the response was no, since no parts, "its a liability issue if they inspect and don't have parts". . . . . Nor will they provide a rental and guess what if it catches fire they won't pay for it. . . I didn't spend over 50k to have a lawn decoration, I bought the vehicle to drive!.

49 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Dodge Ram 2500

51 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 09/08/2014

When driving this vehicle there is a very strong smell of diesel in the cab and coming from the ventilation system when stopping. The fuming is very strong and extremely worrying. I have been sickened during these fuming events. The smell is not unlike charcoal lighter fluid vaporizing but not igniting. I believe that these fumes are deleterious to health and pose a serious danger to public safety. The common unqualified wisdom is that it is a 'regeneration process' taking place, but it does seem to be a dumping of raw fuel and this is vaporizing into the ventilation system, the only things that helps a little is to turn off the a/c off, and switch of the fresh air, use the recirculating air system, open windows. This is the only thing that can be done when you cannot stop the truck and get out for fresh air. My research found many reported cases of this. It seems to be a concern among many Dodge (Chrysler) ram owners. The manufacturer will not admit there is an issue and the dealers hold fast that its not a problem and is 'normal'. Whatever this is, it is not 'normal'. The suggestion of just using 'recirculated air' is a nonsense. This must not be allowed to go on, someone is going to get seriously injured, or themselves and someone else killed from this gassing issue. This issue should be subject to a redesign and a recall on these affected trucks. Irrespective of the processes taking place under the hood, higher egt's, regeneration mode etc. These processes should not affect the health and wellbeing of the vehicle operator. I am imploring the odi to investigate these issues and reported cases, Dodge must respond to odi and they must be made to resolve these issues to the satisfaction of the odi and owners alike. Chrysler and the Dodge ram marque are responsible and liable for their products and faulty engineering. .

52 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 08/13/2014

While driving my 2013 Ram 2500 crew cab 4x4 (VIN 3c6ur5fl4dg535461 ) I was on an onramp headed onto the highway and I tried to accelerate from roughly 10-15 mph to highway speed because of the short on ramp and heavy traffic. The truck refused to accelerate at even a moderate speed while the accelerator was fully depressed. I ended up having to pull over to the shoulder because I was not able to gain any speed due to what I believe was some kind of electronic program preventing acceleration. I tried to research online for some issues other people may have been reporting and found people referring to something called torque management being there problem. I want ram to fix this issue because it is a true safety issue which prevent necessary acceleration in real world driving situations.

53 Other Fuel System problem of the 2012 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 08/01/2014

I was given notice of recall on December 9th 2014. Received another notice this month on the fuel heater. I have been to the dealer several times and they do not have the part. It has been over 6 months since the first recall notice then they send another one and still do not have the parts. What good is a recall of a dangerous situation with the vehicle and the manufacture does not supply the parts! I have also had a problem and made a report before about the truck not stopping or slowing down. The electronic throttle sticks and this is very dangerous.

54 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Dodge Ram 2500

55 Other Fuel System problem of the 2000 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 07/11/2014

Alert: Dodge Ram 2500 diesel life threatening problem --- on July 11, 2014, while driving on u. S. Route 77 in north carolina I passed an 18 wheeler at 70 mph and pulled back into the right lane in front of the truck when, without any warning whatsoever, the engine just stopped. The truck I had just passed nearly jackknifed as the trucker applied his brakes in a panic maneuver to avoid rolling over me from behind. Luckily, he maintained control, got around me, and continued on his way. I coasted to the side of the road and tried to restart the engine but, although it would crank, it would not start. I was forced to wait and then, after a time, tried starting it again. It did. I slowly drove to the next exit but not without incident. After going only a few hundred yards the truck bucked, hesitated and stopped again. Again, I waited. This scenario repeated itself until I got to safety. Coincident with the engine stopping the power steering failed, the abs light came on, it appeared the airbag system was inoperative and all the gauges in the instrument cluster stopped working. Eventually, my truck was towed to lake norman Dodge. There, the very helpful assistant service manager, terry, evaluated the problem saying either the powertrain control module or the instrument cluster was the problem but his experience led him to try replacing the computer first. Replacing the pcm fixed the problem. The instrument cluster resumed working. At least temporarily. On September 16 2014, on a local trip, the truck just stopped again. I was stranded on a state road. I used my prior experience with waiting, starting, driving a little way and having the engine stop again to limp into a local repair shop. Eventually, they towed it to shelor Dodge in christiansburg, va. Where it currently remains, . . . Inoperable.

56 Other Fuel System problem of the 2012 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 07/09/2014

I was driving at 60 mph when I had to come to a stop because of traffic and the throttle apparently did not disengage causing me to slam on the brakes hard. Only after a few seconds when I stopped did the vehicle downshift and returned to idle function. This has happened before and since this incident. The vehicle has also idled high at times and will not slow down when removing pressure to the fuel pedal. It is as if the throttle assembly sticks which is an apparent electrical malfunction. This is and has become a serious safety issue with this vehicle. I have made a complaint before and contacted Dodge ram about this with no satisfaction. I will be drafting a registered letter to nhts board and Dodge ram releasing liability from this issue until it is resolved. I also have a recall about the fuel filter heater from December and still the manufacture has not provided the parts so as to fix this problem which can cause fires in the engine compartment.

57 Other Fuel System problem of the 2005 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 06/13/2014

While on the off ramp to the stop at the bottom Dodge ram gas pedal stuck down causing the truck to accelerate causing the truck to leave the road at around 85+ mph then dropping off the road to an 400+ drop.

58 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 06/12/2014

When accelerating then letting off accelerator for a brief moment then trying to re-accelerate there is no response / dead pedal delay for 2 seconds then the truck will accelerate. Very dangerous in traffic situations. Dealer is aware of problem and can duplicate all the time. No solution at this time.

59 Other Fuel System problem of the 2012 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 06/04/2014

However, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. Oo.

60 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 05/24/2014

This vehicle has the worst acceleration and take off I have ever noticed. If I had to get out of the way of something, I would not be able too. If not fixed this will defiantly cause an accident. I can't even pull out onto the highway and get up to the same speed as other traffic. When I got in my wreck in June I was trying to pass someone who was driving slow and I could not get around them quick enough and they cut me off causing our vehicle to collide.

61 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 05/22/2014

When I'm accelerating and have to get off the throttle and back on quickly there's a serious pause, I almost got rear ended because I had no throttle response for a few seconds. This happened to me several times since may, it is very bad when pulling my RV. Please ask Chrysler to look into it. Thanks.

62 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Dodge Ram 2500

The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated that there was a visible fuel leak. Upon inspection, it was found that the high pressure fuel line had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 150,000. The VIN was unavailable.

64 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 04/10/2014

When starting to leave a stop sign after accelerating somewhat foot slipped off of accelerator. When I stepped om accelerator again there was a substantial lag (3 or more seconds) until the accelerator began to work again. When I reported same to local dealer I was told that this was how is was designed to work. Problem as I see I am pulling out into faster moving traffic and my foot slips off pedal, now I am already engaged in pulling out but my accelerator no longer works, this creates a safety hazard for me and whatever vehicle I am in front of. Solution is to decrease substantially or totally eliminate this lag. Traffic. Dealer said this was a complaint they have heard before but so far there was no solution. I am driving a 2500 series pickup that weighs over 7000 lbs. So I can be a serious threat to someone that runs up on me due to the fact that I can not accelerate.
