My 2007 Dodge 2500 truck with a 5. 9 diesel has experienced, what has been widely known as, death wobble. I would describe this as an uncontrollable loss of control when going over a bump or (more especially) an uneven change in the roadway like when going over overpasses or bridges. This is prevalent on the highway at speeds of 60 mph plus. My truck currently only has 70,000 miles and has been impeccably maintained. The entire truck and steering shakes and the only way to stay alive is to brake heavily until it stops, usually at 30 to 40 mph. This is not safe in any way, but especially on the highway. The truck has had this issue for years and happens without warning. I took the truck to my dealership and they said off the record, "sorry, we know it happens, but we have no solution. " death wobble. . . Everyone knows about it. Not gonna fix it. Hhmmmmm.

Death wobble. Experience when hitting small/minor bumps in the road or railroad tracks. Violent shaking causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and almost impossible to keep your foot on the brake pedal to try to come to a stop. Shaking is so violent that the driver is bounced around in the seat, momentarily airborne and itesm in the truck fly around. Lawsuit was issused on 2004 and newer models but affects older models as well. We now have paid $900 in parts to fix the "death wobble" that had we known was an issue, would not have purchased the truck. Completely unsafe to drive when it is our daily driver and we cannot afford to park it and purchase another vehicle to replace it with. Cannot sell in currenty condition having a "death wobble". No guarantee that the purchased parts will fix the problem.

At highway speeds the truck will intermittently jerk violently until speed is reduced. This is so common the internet is referred to it as the "death wobble". It can do it multiple times in one trip and then not again for serveral others. Thankfully I was driving and not my wife. The vibration is so violent not many could control it safely.

While driving the Dodge Ram 2500 2009 year on the highway at 60-65 mph the vehicle started shaking uncontrollably after hitting a joint in the road between the asphalt and a bridge. I was unable to steer during this time and the vehicle shook so violently that the connectors vibrated off of the battery terminal, both batteries, at which time I lost all power. This almost resulted in my driving off of a bridge. The shaking would only stop upon coming to a complete stop. This happened 3 more times at slower speeds between 40-50 mph. I eventually had to get a tow truck to get us to our destination. This happened on highway roads and always after hitting a small bumps. Mileage on vehicle is 89500.

During highway driving 60mph my truck developed "death wobble" the steering wheel was shaking violently side to side, I was unable to gain control until the truck was below 15mph. This happened several occasions thereafter anywhere from 40-65mph. I took the truck to the dealership, which determined everything was fine as far as recall concerns go, I explained that there was something wrong weather it was recall or not, and I wish to have it fixed. They expressed the truck was fine and refused to look further into it. There was a recall on the front end steering linkage which they also stated was not a problem. The "death wobble" returned on several occasions until from 12-4-17 to about 2-10-2017 when it caused me to leave the road pulling a trailer nearly crashing into a bridge support. After giving up on the dealer I investigated myself and found that the front end traction bar link was bad, this allowed the axle to move side to side. With the steering mounted to the frame, and the axle moving this caused the steering drag link to violently push/pull on the steering causing the potential deadly condition essentially the steering was steering left and right without my control. After replacing the traction bar and front end linkage the truck performed as it should with no further issues, this is a problem that is extremely common among ram owners of 2002-20010 trucks. Check out "Dodge ram death wobble" on youtube it is a problem that Dodge ignores, and when reported isn't aware on how to fix. It occurred on all road types and usually started at a bump or pot hole. Here's a link of many with the exact same problem. . Read more...
Driving about 65 mph hit a bump on interstate and truck shook violently and almost hit concrete wall. Had track bar bushings replaced that was supposed to be the fix just to have the same thing happen again two weeks later taking me off the interstate once again. Not sure what to have done next before it kills me or someone else!.
While driving at 70< hit a small bump and the truck started shakinv violently. Only way to stop it was bring the vehicle to a complete. Started back out and it worked fine. This has happened several more times. I have went as far as to having the torque convertor replaced with no luck. It does this to me at the speed os 65 to 75 mph. I have been reading and learned its refererd as the death wobble and is caused by faulty suspension and steering components.
I have been having a problem that is know as (the death wobble ) when driving at 50 miles per hour or higher when hitting a bump in the road the truck vibrates so bad the you have a hard time controlling it. This has been happening since 2014. I have changed numerous parts in the steering to solve this problem to no avail. When will there be a recall on this issue before someone is killed.
The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500. While driving various speeds, the vehicle began to shake violently (death wobble) without warning. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic who stated that the ball bearings and dampers failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
This truck is dangerous, it has death wobble and shakes violently when you hit a small bump, it has happened numerous times to me. Why hasn't this truck been recalled??????????????.
Serious shimmy at highway speeds. Truck has 61k miles and is maintained very well.
While driving at about 55 mph, I hit a minor bump in the freeway and the truck started shaking violently, steering wheel shaking side to side. The only way it stopped was I had to reduce my speed to complete stop , the problem was I was towing a 16' trailer with a 4000 lb load on it, I was in front of a semi truck with a full load, it was a very scary and dangerous situation. . It happen again while driving at about 65 mph on freeway next day without the trailer I hit a minor bump in the roadway and the truck started shaking violently. The only way it stopped was I had to reduce my speed and stop. I think this problem should be investigated as some one is going to get killed by this happening to them.

I was driving it home from the dealership, on a back road, going about 40 mph. I hit a bump, the whole front end started bouncing uncontrollably. Like it was hit with a jack hammer! I ended up off the road! as I got out and was looking to see what happened, a guy stopped behind me. He got out, and said he has the same truck with the same problem. He's never seen it happen before, only experienced it first hand. He said it looked like the wheels were going different directions! I didn't see anything wrong tho. The lug nuts and everything were tight. It even passed inspection this morning! I looked online and it said to start online here to document the complaints.

Driving to work and hit bump on freeway at 70mph. Truck shook violently on right side front. This is the second time it has occurred. First occurrence was at 102,000 and second occurrence was at 141,000. It is known as the "Dodge death wobble". The repair the first time consisted of replacing the front steering components. The repair was done by an off-road shop. Tomorrow (6/6/16), the truck goes to the repair shop for evaluation. This time was scary. The truck shook violently. I had to reduce speed rapidly and was lucky that it was the weekend and there were only a few vehicles behind me.
The leaf sprimg assembly on the passenger side in the rear broke away from the frame. Being that I am retired and this is my personal vehicle I dont put to many heavy loads on it. I do have a travel trailer and a boat . I have never pulled them together nor do I use them all the time from occassion I go camping. I do fish a morethan I camp but the wait of either is relitively the same. I had my family with me when the leaf spring broke. I have 5 trucks, I have done the same things with all of them and never had a leaf spring brak from the vehicle. As I took it to the dealer he told me he has only seen this once in his 20 years of working on trucks. I do belive that this is an area of concern. .
The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500. While driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle shook and vibrated severely after driving over a bump in the road. The failure subsided after the speed was reduced to 40 mph. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 120,000.
My truck has death wobble. When I drive on the highway under normal driving conditions and hit even the slightest bump just right, my front end will shake violently and will not stop shaking until I slow down to under 30 mph. It has been happening for 2 years now and there isn't a sure fire fix for this problem. Several mechanics have looked at my truck and they all have a different idea of how to fix it.
Front end of Dodge ram and steering wheel will shake and wobble violently after hitting small bump in road at high speeds. Shaking continues for about 12 seconds. Very dangerous when happening in interstate traffic.
Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 65 mph, the vehicle was shaking uncontrollably. The contact mentioned that the steering wheel was difficult to turn. The vehicle was taken to a dealer but was unable to be diagnosed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic but the diagnoses were unknown. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 109,000.
"07" mega cab 4x4 has the well known "death wobble" that Chrysler doesn't want to acknowledge. When traveling over 55 and hit bumps, potholes, or bridge joints the condition starts and doesn't stop until slowed to less than 20 mph. This has happened on numerous occasions. Have spent several thousand dollars trying to fix to no avail. Truck only had 52500 miles when this started. I have replaced steering system with "new improved" version, replaced shocks, track bar bushings, steering stabilizer, steering gear box stabilizer, tires. Truck has only been driven 800 miles in the last 2 years due to the problem and only driven that far because when it started I was 500 miles from home. Couple this with the passenger side air bag recall that said do not drive until replaced and it took a year to get parts. To say I am not happy with Chrysler would be an understatement. The "death wobble" is very serious and after thinking I had it fixed it nearly caused a major wreck on a 4 lane interstate while pulling a 26' trailer loaded with atv's, running 65 mph and ran over an expansion joint at a bridge. I cleared all 4 lanes trying to get it under control, everyone was going in all directions to get away from me. Thank god it never caused any damage to anyone's vehicles, only our nerves and underwear. This is way more serious than any emissions scam.
While traveling at highway speeds, if I hit a bump or pothole, the front end begins to shudder violently nearly causing a loss of control and causing me to suddenly move to the left or right. This happens nearly on a daily basis on my way to or from work. The only way to stop the "death wobble" is to quickly slow down below 30 mph. This has cased near rear end collisions with people following me. This appears to be a well known problem that the auto maker refuses to solve. I hope someone doesn't end up hurt or killed because I lose control of my vehicle.
The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 50 mph, the vehicle began to vibrate violently. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road for a brief moment and then resumed normally. The failure recurred on a separate occasion. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the front stabilizer was replaced. The mechanic also informed that the steering linkage would need to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic for a second opinion, who confirmed that the steering linkage would not need to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 296,670.
Driving about 70 mph straight on a highway. Hit a small bump in the road. My truck started shaking violently . Had to slow down to keep control of my truck and make a complete stop to stop it from shaking.
At 138916 mile took vehicle in for warranty recall n62 left outer tie rod assemble , since that time have had six instances of uncontrolled sever and dangerous vibrations almost to the point of losing control at highway speeds of 60-70mph. The most recent occurrence was yesterday while making a left hand curve at 60mph; vehicle not has approximately 141,000 miles.
October 31, 2015, I experienced the Dodge "death wobble" twice within 10 minutes, speed approximately 50 to 55 mph on a 2 lane east bound road in modesto, calif. , driving straight. Luckily, no cars were close by. Previously, I have experienced a single wheel "death wobble". I am having to change the track bar bushings every 15,000 to 20,000 miles. They are worn out or in pieces. I have found the frame and the front differential are not in alignment. The differential needs to be pulled into alignment with the frame 1/4 inch(approx. ) to install the bolt through the frame mount and the track bar bushing. This truck has never been in a collision to the front. The "death wobble" has been noticed on many truck websites. If I had been in traffic, it would have caused an accident. What is NHTSA doing about a recall by Dodge to fix the problem, permanently? the truck was new when I bought it. I have changed addresses on registration and have not received any notices of the other recalls.
I was driving down I-15 at approximately 70mph and hit a small bump in the road. The front end started bouncing uncontrollably. Had to completely stop in traffic, which almost resulted in a big accident. This is not the first time this has happened. I was in traffic on Monday this week as well and the same thing happened twice at slower speeds and on both of these occasions was almost hit by an 18 wheeler. I am a female and trying to hold on to the steering wheel while it jerked violently back and forth was almost not doable. When is Dodge going to be held responsible for making a safe truck for us to drive? my mechanic told me that just about all of these trucks have this same issue and they won't fix it unless it cracks. This is not safe for drivers anywhere. Is it going to take a serious accident or death to get something done about this problem?.
Vehicle wanders when driving had 2 front end alignments and tires balanced has not corrected problem. Had it reinspected and left tie rod end worn. Was told it does not come under recall for steering linkage.

At speed over 50 on a interstate highway hitting an expansion joint, bumps or uneven pavement while changing a lane on 2 lane state roadway to pass car (no bumps) truck went into violent front end shaking. Created unsafe passing situation while trying to get truck under control. Truck is a diesel with 72,000 well cared for miles. When speaking with a Chrysler ram tough ?? (my a--)truck dealer , they knew nothing about a "death wobble" . Front end replaced except for steering box with front end alignment.
