The turn signal switch constantly needs to be replaced because of a faulty contact plate that causes it to over heat. When this happens the turn signal works in the opposite direction you signal without warning. This is a huge safety concern and has caused traffic accidents from what I have found researching the problem. My truck tends to have the problem more frequently on cold mornings and after a rain.

Turn signals had been operating erratically for about 10k miles. Misty day, turned wiper switch on to intermittent, nothing. Moved switch to continuous, nothing. Pushed washer button, nothing. Had 'Smart switch' changed. Wipers and washers worked immediately after delivery. Less than 1 week and less than 1,000 miles later, no wipers. Original and replacement switches were oe parts. Can live without the turn signals. Dangerous to operate in anything but sunny days without wipers and washers.

Turn signal malfunction switch Dodge Ram 2500,signal has poor quality plating on the circuit board causing a buildup of metal in the dielectric grease on the switch. This in turn causes an erratic or no signal operation at all making it very dangerous to drive when pulling a trailer. Dodge service said there was no problem but Dodge parts knew what the problem was and told me what part to buy an or how to fix. I drove over 50,000 miles and almost had several accidents and the kansas highway patrol finally verified the problem. They have recalled the 3500 ram truck but this is very common on the 1500,2500 models also. I have replaced the part at my expense and inspected the old switch and cleaned it to keep it as a spare.

Bought a used 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 trx4 with the 5. 9l cummins. Driving home from the used car dealership, my turn signal switch was not working properly. It would vary from when I had in the left turn position, sometimes the right blinker would flash too, or nothing would blink. Sometimes, when I make a right turn and initiate the right turn signal, nothing flashes or if I put it in the left turn position, then the right turn signal flashes. I purchased it used on Sep 1, 2009; and this is my first Dodge and more importantly, a life-threatening equipment fault/malfunction. I have read online several articles of this affecting several year model Dodge Ram 2500/3500 trucks. If this is known, why isn't a "recall" initiated and I as a user/consumer, now has to pay another $100 for a multi turn switch, from which I read, may malfunction within a year.
2006 Dodge 2500 truck. Has had intermittent problem with turn signals and wipers. Turn on signal and other signal comes on. Wipers go off with switch on. This has been issue since bought vehicle in 06. Does not do it all the time.
The multifunction switch (turn signal) is malfunctioning. I have heard many people state this same thing. The turn signals will activate opposite (trip the left and the right activates) and vice versa. The high beams will not turn off. And most recently I was in a rain storm and my windshield wipers which are activated by the same switch did not work. I had to stop on the side of the road and wait for the rain to stop before I could continue since I could not get them to activate. The multifunction switch appears to be a faulty part of my truck 2006 Dodge Ram 2500.
My turn signal stalk doesn't signal properly when actuated. I push up for a right signal, sometimes I get a right signal sometimes I get the total opposite (left signal). This is dangerous. Also on the same lever my wipers don't always turn on properly or the high beams don't activate or don't turn off. However, I strongly feel this is a Chrysler issue because having to do some research on a tdr discussion board it has been realized that there is too much stress on the wiring harness that terminates at the multifunction switch. When the steering wheel is tilted down this harness separates from the switch due to no slack causing it to become erratic, then if you tilt the wheel up it makes a full connection and works properly. There needs to be a recall before this causes an accident!!!.
