This is a safety concern I have faced on multiple occasions with this pickup. I have owned it since new and kept up on maintenance and recalls. Today it happened again. What it is, the windshield wipers will erratically wipe, sometimes not wipe, not shut off, as well as come on at random. I reside in the wet side of the state of oregon where it can be super dangerous to loose wipers in a torrential downpour of rain or snow. This pickup get use predominately for pulling trailers, which yet again adds another layer of danger when I lose much visibility of the road ahead of me. The first time this got really bad I took it to the dealer out of warranty and they diagnosed for three hours to tell me it was 90% probable that it was the total ingratiated power control module. I said yes I will pay the total combined $1,400 to hopefully fix the problem. At times after this it has had occasional issues. Today, 2/9/2024, it was acting about like it did the years ago that the dealer extracted, what I felt to be good money, to fix windshield wipers. I suspect in the round of diagnosis they may have messed with the wiper motor and made things marginally better for the years that I have since got out of it. On the dealer fix I researched the problem and it seemed to be kinda common in 2006 Dodge rams at the time. Today I was doing more research to go about fixing this problem myself since the dealer fix has always been unsatisfactory to me. In this research I found two recalls for 2008-2009 Dodge rams (NHTSA campaign #s 09v08400 & 09e009000) with what sound to be the same problem. Did a little more digging and between the part numbers, the parts appear to be the same between the model year 2006 & 2008 Dodge ram, 2500 slt diesel engine (this probably true to other trim and drive train too). Should this recall be extended to other vehicles that also share the same part, if it is truly the same part off the factory floor? I know I fight similar trouble.

After driving in heavy rain. During the following day started having electrical issues the parking lights would stay on even when the switch was turned off the driver's side headlight would also come on. And the parking lights would either turn off or flash when the high beams were turned on this happened with front and back parking lights the only way to fully get them to stay off was to pull the relay or disconnect the battery. The problem is with the power distribution center and front control module the poor design allows them to corrode damaging the copper tracing and causing shorts in the system this is a common problem as there are several online forums dedicated to these problems with a lot of people having the same issues so I'm not sure why there hasn't been a recall for this since it is a major safety problem when it affects lights, windshield wipers and several other things that could cause accidents. My brother's truck is also having sign's of the pdc and fcm being bad. And at over $1000 to replace both for a manufacturing defect it's not right that Dodge customer's should have to pay that bill. I'll be attaching a picture of another board but the damage is the same and in the same spot.
During a recent snowstorm, the windshield wipers started acting erratically. The wiper delay function no longer works. The wipers operate at one speed, when they work, and do not turn off when I turn the switch off. They seem to time out after awhile and stop wherever they happen to be on the windshield, not the lower parked position.
The windshield wipers stopped working as hurricane nicole was hitting lantana florida. Got truck home and replaced wiper motor. Did not fix the problem. Replaced the multi-function switch (mopar part#56049823ab) did not fix problem. This happened around 1:00 pm. I was in traffic. It took about 1 1/2 hour to drive 10 miles because of rain bands from the storm. The wipers stopped working at regular speed and moved in slow motion at high speed, then stopped working altogether. I have not been to the dealer. I am told its probably the body control module (bcm). This sound expensive. This happened 11/9/22.
November 2022-while trying to use my windshield wipers to clean my front windshield I noticed I could not turn them off plus they would move super fast then very slow. Over the next few months my windshield wipers would sometimes work normal but now they are consistently running sporadically: running fast, slowing down starting and stopping on their own. This is a very dangerous situation during a rain storm and I am going to take my truck into the dealer for repair but for safety reasons, this needs to get looked into for recall.
During cold weather - when outside temp is below 30 degrees the wipers will not work. When outside temp is above 30 degrees wipers work. During a snow storm, driving home the wipers stop working and windshield freezes up. I replaced the multifunction switch and the wiper motor and dealer stated that the totally integrated power module could be bad. There is so many complaints about others having this issue. This is a major safety issue. Something needs to be done before someone is killed.

The climate control will not change to defrost. It will only blow out the dash vents. My windshield foged up while driving 70mph and I could not see. Had to stop every few miles to use my t-shirt to clean it off. Very dangerous what if I was on a small country road, there is not much room for errors.
Headlights shut off while driving at random times at night causing complete inability to see on the freeway or back road where there are ditches and things to wreck. Severe safety issue that dealership cannot resolve with usual fixes. Many others have the same complaint about lights going out. This will cause deaths if I'm driving 80 mph on the freeway and suddenly can't see or people can't see me. I've tried everything to fix it with the dealer. It happens while driving at slow speeds and fast speeds and even parked. I've had the tipm replaced, rebuilt the cluster, removed all after market add on, brand new bulbs, checked for codes, repaired wiring shorts. None has fixed the problem.

The heater in the truck will not throw out heat in vents on top of dash and only put heat out on drivers side in other vents for floor or panel. So there is no heat coming out of defroster vents. Will not defrost front windshield. Cannot see out of windshield cannot safely drive vehicle. This is a wide spread problem with these trucks.

Wiper assembly came apart at 55 miles an hour on the highway in the rain almost wrecked my vehicle.
Bad tipm. Wipers and radio dont work. Had tested by dealer. $1550 for dealer to replace part.
All lights (headlights, taillights, etc. ) come on while vehicle turned off and turn off while vehicle is running. Also, windshield wipers and washers run all the time and can not be turned off. Drains battery while not running, then will not start. Factory trained mechanic says it is a "bad tipm" (totally integrated power module), and the dealership can not order a new tipm as Dodge does not make these anymore (vehicle is 12 years old). My vehicle is practically useless and now valueless, as I can not get needed parts to repair. My experience has been that aftermarket parts (including fan clutch for this vehicle) does not work well and end up needing replacement almost as soon as repairs are done. This really sucks that an american auto manufacturer can fail to make parts available for 12 year old vehicles. I guess they need to sell a new one that bad! not another Dodge, for sure.
Wipers work fine in high or low position but are sporadic and or stop completely in the intermittent position.
Windshield wipers work once and then they stop working. I see this has been an issue on a lot of Dodges during these years. My truck doesn't have the recall. But this is a serious problem, I crashed into someone due to it. Please figure this out I know of several people that this has happened to as well.

1st complaint passenger side tire was found to be low upon inspection the wheel ,17 inch wheel is cracked on the inside about 6 inches long by estimate. I have pictures on my phone I just haven't had opportunity to upload to computer yet. Had wheel blown it would have killed my family of four as I was towing a trailer when it was noticed. 2nd complaint intake air door, broke off causing troubles with freeing windshield of fog during certain times and days of year, this can be found on google many complaints intake door that controls outside vs inside air.
Vehicles wipers don't work correctly. They go on and off randomly. I have witnessed them turning on while the vehicle was parked and turned completely off with no key in the ignition. While driving the wipers won't go on when I need them most.

When I turn on the left blinker, the right one flashes on my truck. Then I turn on right blinker and the left blinker flashes. Also the wipers will sometimes stop or slow down when I have my blinkers on. This is gonna cause an accident. Thank you.
I was riding down the road in my Ram 2500 pickup on a cold snowy day in central NY when my defroster just stopped working. I was forced to pull off the road nearly driving into a ditch because I was unable to see. The windshield was completely fogged over. I made it home stopping every mile to wipe the windshield so I could see. Iwas told this is a very common problem with these trucks and an expensive fix. How is a recall not done on these trucks? if this is not a safety issue, I don't know what is!!! I am looking into filing charges against Dodge for the simple fact that they now about these problems and have done nothing to correct them.
Windshield wiper motor recall. My windshield wiper motor lockup when I was driving the wiper was locked straight up and down. Almost had several wrecks trying to get home. After rain stopped took off left windshield wiper to be able to see. Nhtsa has a recall but Dodge but my wiper motor does not fall under that recall. You need to expand recall to fix this problem on all 2008 Dodge Ram 2500's.
Driving on a rural 2 lane road in a rainstorm wipers were on low speed, stopped working. Switched wipers to high speed, wipers operated extremely slowly, then operated at high speed for a short period, then extremely slow again. Alternated this a few times, then completely stopped working. It took about 4 hours to finish my drive of about 60 miles to my home due to stopping alongside the road to wait for breaks in the rainstorm. I replaced both wiper motor and wiper switch to no avail. Then started searching online for a solution and discovered the tipn controversy have not yet contacted dealer. .
The ac/heater plenum doors do not work and defrosting the windshield is impossible at times (very common in all size ram trucks). I live in colorado and this happens while driving and it is cold out. Dodge has to be aware of the cheap plastic vent doors they used.
The air conditioner/heater blower in my truck has been working intermittently, but getting worse to the point that it rarely works now. I took it to a shop a few weeks ago, but the system happened to work that day and they could not find any issues. However, I did some research on the internet and there are many other owners having this problem. The cause is a faulty ignition switch/wiring harness connector which actually melts from the heat caused by improper wire gauge/design. This information can be readily found on Dodge truck forums by doing a google search. There was a previous recall for this issue on earlier model years (safety recall #875 according to one site) but none that I could find for my model year. This is a safety issue as visibility could be reduced by frost or fogging of the windshield since the windshield defroster will not work. Moreover, failure of the vehicle's heater could be a safety issue in very cold weather--especially in remote locations. It may also be possible for the overheated/melted connectors/components to cause a fire or to manifest other failures associated with the ignition switch (uncommanded engine cutoff, etc. ). Thank you in advance for investigating this issue.
Defroster doesn't work due to bad engineering on havc system. Blend door and re-circ door get broke due to sensers (DC servo motors) not operating properly. They over stress the pivot pins and break them. Because of this, the defroster doesn't work and the windows fog/freeze and you cannot see out of the windshield. Dodge refuses to address this issue.
When switching on a turn signal, both lights flash or nothing happens. Wipers fail or work sporadically. Wipers don't work when I need them to and causes me to not drive in the rain. The blinkers work half the time and almost causes someone to hit my truck because they thought I was turning right when I had the blinker to turn left.
The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated that the windshield wipers failed while driving in rainy weather conditions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the windshield wiper module failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
Wiper system refused to operate. Warmed up the vehicle for an hour and a half, still no operation. Second time this happened. Thought maybe it was frozen since very cold weather, but the wipers didnt even try to move, they could be manually moved a bit.
Windshield wipers cycle randomly. Driving at freeway speeds with the wipers operating in the on position (not the delay setting) they will completely stop operating and begin again. Cycling the switch to the off position will not turn them off. Turning the switch to the delay position will not activate. Only working in the on and high setting, randomly. Also, while standing outside if the truck with keys in hand (vehicle engine off, no keys in ignition), pushed the remote key fob to unlock the doors and the wipers cycled 1 time. Truck was not running, no persons in the vehicle. When they do operate in the on/low setting, turning them off will randomly stop them in drivers line of sight. This is a safety issue.
I was traveling down the highway approximately 75 mph, in colorado, taking my 2 kids to school, the truck was in the garage overnight, about 3 minutes into the trip the windows began to fog up. They fogged up in such a way I had little to no visibility, I immediately tried to turn the defrost on from the vent position and heard what would be a broken blender door trying to position itself to the defrost position. It did not work, and it is due to a poor design of the blender door. It is a plastic part where the actuator flips the door, it had cracked. This is a common problem in this heater configuration and a dangerous one to say the least. Within a minute I went from seeing to being scared for my life and childrens lives. I let off the accelerator and had to maintain a straight steering positon and wipe the window with my hand furiously to be able to pull the truck to the side of the road. At that time, I could roll down the windows, get the front window cleared with some tissues and continue on to school. I had taken the truck to a local Dodge dealer to get an estimate of $1100 which was mainly labor. I refuse to pay $1100 for this fix since it is involving a bad design and one of the most important aspects of vehicle safety - visibility. I live in colorado and a car or truck without defrost is useless. Dodge needs to address the problem before a very serious accident or fatality occurs. In my case I was very fortunate and no accident had occurred.
While raining, windsheild wipers would not come on. After switching the multifunction switch on and off several times, the wipers started working. The wipers continued to operate even when turned back off. Wipers only turned off after turniing multifunction switch several more times.
Windshield wiper works intermittently and will stop sporadically during the cycle. In delay mode the wipers may or may not operate and may delay then continuously wipe or just not work at all. Very dangerous while driving due to visibility and the need to keep looking down at the windshield wiper control. Researching the problem this is a common issue that appears Dodge hasn't resolved.
