Wiper Problems of Dodge Ram 2500 - part 2

Windshield wipers often dont activate when turned on, and sometimes turn on when not activated. Wipers often turn on when unlocking doors with key fob. When wipers are turned on, they cycle for 5 swipes and then stop. Has jeopardized my safety multiple times, until problem was repaired at local dealership.

My 03 Dodge Ram 2500 quad cab window defrost does not work cause the little flap gets stuck and wont switch it over from whatever it is on.

The defrost/defog will not work. The air only blows directly out of the dashboard vents, it won't defrost or blow air to the floor vents. This is causing driving issues (I. E. Pulling over due to fogging up).

Wipers quit working all of a sudden during a severe thunderstorm. Upon inspection, the wiper switch was replaced, wiper motor was replaced and being that this model doesn't have a fuse or relay controlling the wipers, the entire tipm has to be replaced.

The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact received a recall notice for NHTSA campaign number: 13v528000 (steering). The dealer and manufacturer did not know when the parts would be available to repair the vehicle. In addition, the windshield wipers would not operate on the high setting. The dealer reset the computer for the wipers, but the failure recurred. The failure mileage was unknown.

Traveling down the freeway during heavy rain storm and the passenger wiper linkage fell off at the wiper blade rotating joint ,this caused the passenger wiper blade to come into contact with the drivers side wiper blade and caused both to stop working. They became tangled together. I can home and researched it and it seems to be a common problem on many Dodge trucks. Thank the almighty that it happened at 3am ,on my way to work,with barley any traffic. Victor.

Driving westbound on m46 during dusk, headlights were on, suddenly I was being signaled my high beams were on. I stopped at a nearby gas station to check out what was going on and all of my lights had failed. Closer inspection revealed the totally integrated power module had failed without warning.

Going down the highway at 60 mph in a downpour. Had windshield wipers on low, turned them up to high and they slowed down until the completely quit. Luckily got off of highway to safe location to get towed to my shop. After diagnosing problem, found out it is the tipm(totally intergrated power module).

Blend door will not work, common failure in models 02-06, poor design breaks after a year or so. . . Cant defrost windshield when windshield frost due to snow or cold temperatures. Unable to remove foggy windshield on rainy days.

Directing air to defrost windshield does not work = safety hazard. Air only blows from front vents and will not change to any other position: defrost or floor, no matter the setting selected on the climate control (air flow) knob.

Could no longer activate the high beams and windshield washer. After changing the multifunction switch was told the issue is in the tipm. Need to replace power module associated with fuse box.

On the 27th of Nov, 2013 my heater quit working on the defrost mode. I turn the switch from 1 position to another and nothing happens, it just keeps putting out air through the front vents. Nothing out the defroster. Dangerous if trying to drive in bad weather.

While driving in the early am with fog and humidity, the defroster stopped blowing warm air, as air was diverted though the dash vents and not the defroster vents. I had made sure the dial was turned all the way to the right (defrost) but air was still coming out dash vents. Had to pull over as dash was fogging up. No matter what vent is selected on the dial, air not continues to blow through dash vents. This is a safety issue.

This vehicles wipers will start or stop at any given time when you have them on I have also had them to whip with the switch turned off this has been a problem for a few years intermiton has never worked correctly very unsafe auto to drive thank you.

When I turn on my windshield wipers to any intermittent position, they will work properly for 5-10 cycles then will cycle 4-5 times in a row without any delay between cycles. On a few occasions the wipers have stopped in the middle of the windshield and remain their until I am able to turn them off and move the control switch to the off/fast position several times. Very unsafe in winter in washington.

Multiple breaks in the vent portion of the dash cover with missing pieces and the main dash component is completely cracked through on the passenger side. With the ventilation system on, pieces of plastic and deteriorated insulation blows freely in the cab of the truck. With the dash continuing to crack and break apart pieces of plastic have dropped below the dash and could potentially could expose and cause wiring problems with the electrical system. The cracked dash is a danger to the eyes of anyone riding in the vehicle with the ventilation system circulating condition air. I fear that the dash will act as shrapnel in the event of air bag deployment.

Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated that the windshield wipers failed to operate. Turn signals had been operating erratically for about 10k miles. Misty day, turned wiper switch on to intermittent, nothing. Moved switch to continuous, nothing. Pushed washer button, nothing. Had 'Smart switch' changed. Wipers and washers worked immediately after delivery. Less than 1 week and less than 1,000 miles later, no wipers. Original and replacement switches were oe parts. Can live without the turn signals. Dangerous to operate in anything but sunny days without wipers and washers.

Tl - the contact owns a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated that while parked, he noticed a crack from the dashboard to the windshield. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. Like many many others 2006 Dodge ram pick-ups I have lost control of the air handling heater, defrost system and there is no consistent control or operation. This is a known design flaw in the system. This condition will not allow frost/ice removal or defogging of the windshield and side windows leaving the driver unable to see out of the vehicle which can result in serious accidents that could lead to severe injury and death. .

Wipers have a mind of their own. They will activate randomly when locking/unlocking the vehicle with the remote. When attempting to use intermittent settings, the wipers may or may not move. If they move, they may move once or multiple times. If they do not move at all, switch has to be set to slow/fast continuous setting. Have replaced multi-function switch, forward control module, and wiper motor. The problem continues. There are many people who have this same issue and it is a safety hazard. There needs to be a manufacturer recall.

Mix door fails to blow heated air up through defrost vents. Visibility is zero when it is below freezing and there is moisture in the air. It appears there is no recall for this even though it is an extreme safety hazard.

I had a wiper motor failure. My understanding of the Dodge ram is there is a total integrated power module that controls wipers, lights and other electrical devises. Once the tipm see's the 5th fault it shuts down what ever is causing the fault. In my case it was a wiper problem. Once the unit faults it has to be replaced and programmed for the vehicle. Cost $1264. 56 for a wiper motor repair.

Headlights stopped working while driving at night. Headlight switch is not safe to handle load of electricity from the headlight and marker light wires. I have replaced switch 4 times and still same problem. Lights stop working because the switch melts and begins to burn. The recall for 1997 Dodge ram headlight switch should have been extended for all models built in that year.

I was driving down the highway and about 10pm it was rainning had wipers on in medium speed wipers kept stopping. Had a lot of cars passing by me on on comming lane and they would flash their lights to me to indicate my light was off but the switch is turn on in low beam position. Had some friends following me that day as well and they told me that my brake light was not working nor my lights. . The following Wednesday which would be July 25 2012 I took my truck to the dealership I bought from ,but all the lights work except for the cargo light and the low windshield wiper warning kept comming on. . The truck has been in there for a week now and on Wednesday August 1 2012 I called the dealership to see what is wrong with my truck and the said the tipm has been fried and all the headlights, brake lights, turn signals and wipers does not work any more they have to replace the tipm. I only had the truck for one week and this went out already. The windshield wipers failed completely while driving at night on interstate 77 in the rain at approx. 10 pm. The wipers started slowing down and stopped completely in less than a minute. Despite heavy truck traffic I was very fortunate to get my vehicle safely off the interstate at an exit just south of charleston, wv. The experience was terrifying. I took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who told me that the wiper motor had burned out and also burned out the electrical power management module. This vehicle has no fuses or relays to protect this system. The total repair cost was $1260. This is inexcusable. The wipers are an important safety feature of the vehicle and should not fail during the normal life of the vehicle. The cost to repair was ridiculous. The wiper motor was less than $200 but the power management module was over $800. This is an exceptionally poorly designed system.

Wipers failed while driving at about 45mph. Wipers were on high and barely moving on windshield. Dealer ship diagnosed it and replaces tippem, VIN locked relay and wiper motor. This all running about 1500 dollars , and taking about a week. Seems to be an issue in the Dodge Ram 2500 2006.

I like to report of port a problem with the Dodge ram 2006 mega cab. This seems to be a reoccurring problem with many owners about the driver side windows and the pastor side when windows front and back however my problem consists of just the front driver side window the driver side window appears to crack on the edge down below for no apparent reason whatsoever whenever this vehicles get extremely cold or extremely warm in my case it was extremely cold day when my window cracked on the bottom I did some checking in the investigation on this problem in discovered that this problem has happened many many times before with a lot of other people for no apparent reason and just like mine it was just parked in the front driveway or parked in the garage and some people said when this happened there's reported this happening when I was parked in the parking lot somewhere back to my case my case consists of it being parked in the front driveway and when I went out to start the vehicle I started it in mind you it was 40 to 50 below zero before windchill I was I cleaned off my windows got in my truck and close the door like I normally do when I say start to move out my driveway and down the gravel road that I live on and I heard a noise and I looked over in the bottom half of my window had cracked all along the bottom edge now maybe I'm wrong but I believe this to be a safety issue with these vehicles and the one that needs to be addressed I would appreciate problem be solved for these windows in these mega cabs are very expensive to be replacing when they get cracked for no apparently reason lucky some insurance companies will replace this however this is a reoccurring problem with the mega cabs and can be very costly for these windows range quite a bit ps thank you for your time and I appreciate you addressing my problem.

Headlights- the passenger side headlight would come on then go off whenever it wants to and now the low beam does not work. I have tested the connection and replaced the bulb several times and still does not work. When driving at night it makes it difficult to see. And is also against the law to not having working headlights. Trailer lights- the drivers side brake light/blinker on any trailer that’s hooked to my truck does not work. I have taken it the a local shop (street dynamics which is out of business now) several times over the last 5 years to see if they can fix the issue. The fix was to put a jumper wire from the truck brake light to the trailer connector. I still do not have a blinker on the driver side of the trailer. Windshield wipers- the windshield wipers will come on and off whenever they want. Some times when it is raining they will turn on with the switch then will turn off while driving or will stay on after the switch is turned off. The switch has been replaced and did not change anything. It is dangerous to drive the truck during inclement weather. I am a police officer and have been for 17 years. In the last 12 plus years I have owned the truck which is a 2006 Dodge 2500 I have been told by several Dodge technicians and mechanics that the issues I’m having is being caused by the tipm. While researching the tipm I have found out all of my trucks issues are similar to a lot of other people’s 2006 Dodge 2500s. I have had issues with the trailer brake lights since I bought it.

On our 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 slt crew cab. The turn signal will sometimes intermittently do the exact opposite of the direction you choose and when this happens the headligts will not go bright if you have it on dim and the windshield wipers will not work as we found out shortly after we bought the truck on a rainy day. It apperars it is all controlled from one location on the steering wheel column.

The wiper linkage failed for the passenger side wiper causing a loss of window wiping capability on the passenger side. This causes visibility issues even on the driver side. The loose linkage arm could also become stuck and cause a complete loss of window wiping ability.
