The contact owns a 1999 Dodge Ram 3500. When the ignition was turned off, smoke engulfed the front-end of the vehicle. He noticed a small engine compartment fire occurred the second time. He was able to extinguish the flames. The vehicle was towed to a local facility, and he was advised that the repair cost approximately $1,000. No repairs were made. The clutch line failed a second time because a plastic pressure line was used. Updated 12/22/09 updated 02/1710 the hydraulic line from the clutch master cylinder to the clutch slave developed a hole. The vehicle caught on fire due to flammable liquid leaking onto the firewall and exhaust. The consumer learned that a steel line was now being used with a heated shield. Updated 02/19/10.

2 Clutch problem of the 2007 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 04/14/2009

The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Ram 3500. While driving 60 mph, the contact felt the clutch pressure plate slip and the vehicle began to shake. He took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that the clutch assembly failed. Through research, the contact discovered that it was an aftermarket product that was installed in the vehicle. He feels that the manufacturer should use better parts in the vehicle. The manufacturer did not take responsibility for the repairs. The current and failure mileages were 83,000. Updated 05/11/09. 3 Clutch problem of the 2007 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 12/10/2007

I have has three clutches go out on my 1 ton Dodge dually in less than 3,000 miles in a 6 week period of time an the first time the fly wheel came apart and flew in to the clutch and took it out thy said it was not my fault the second tim they said it was my fault but then the service manager looked at it and said it was ent he said that the did not replace the pressure plate the first time and tat it was the reason the clutch went out the second time but just to make sure he and my sales man took a ride with me to make sure that I was not doing any thing to cause my clutch to go out and they both said that my driving was fine it went out a third time and they said I was riding the clutch and are refusing to honor my warranty I have talked to several transmission shops and several mechanics and they have all said some thing is major wrong that I should not be able to tear that truck up in that short of a time with that few a miles on it I have the incident forms I yall want I can email them to yall.

4 Clutch problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 04/19/2007

Defective flywheel on cummins equipped trucks. Flywheel will warp and cause the clutch and pressure plate assembly to fail.

5 Clutch problem of the 1999 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 08/01/2000

Transmission malfunctioned in 5 gear. Consumer has to stay at 55 mph, this was 3rd time this happened. When transmission went out for 4th time causing clutch to go out also.
