The truck has what I describe as a "dead pedal". I was merging into traffic and let off the throttle in an evasive maneuver, but realized I need to accelerate quickly to avoid being hit. I pushed to accelerator to the floor, and there was a 2-3 second delay before the engine began accelerating. I avoided being hit only due to evasive steering. This situation is very dangerous. I have verified this condtion in a controlled situation, and can replicate the problem each and every time.

Randomly, while attempting to avoid hazards and/or collisions and while merging onto motorway, gas pedal becomes unresponsive for up to 5 seconds. This usually happens from a dead stop; however, has occurred while traveling at highway speeds also.
I came to a stop light and the transmission raised the engine rpm and shook the vehicle. I had to put the transmission in neutral to keep from surging forward. It also surges in reverse as well, which is even more dangerous because I have to go in reverese and then to neutral to keep from surging backwards. There are no engine or transmission computer code read outs.
I have had a vibration and "death wobble" on my truck since I purchased it. It has been to two different Chrysler dealers for a total of 5 or 6 times without resolution of the issue. The issue is two fold, one is when I hit a large bump at speeds greater than 45 mph the steering wheel shakes violently, and the other this speeds over 60 mph there is a vibration. I have spoken to Chrysler about the issues about a year or so ago. They tried to offer buy back because the issue could not be resolved, but then told me I was not qualified because I was the second owner. I also had to have the steering gear box replaced under warranty, and they replaced all the tie-rod ends ect. The issues is still the same without resolution. Now my warranty is up, and the truck still has this potential dangers issues and I have no where to go. Anytime I have the truck looked at now it cost me a lot of money. My truck has recall 13v-528 and 09e-001 which relate to these issues. The truck was inspected, but they did not fix anything.

Experienced puff puff sound from underside of motor. Upon inspection one of the manifold bolts to the exhaust system was broken off. No accident/incidence caused this. Upon repair, mechanic found 3 and 4 gaskets on each port (to the exhaust system) not one gasket as it should be. The manifold had warped and bolt holes between the manifold ports and exhaust no longer lined up. Since the manifold had never been touched before this, it was incorrectly installed and/or manufactured with multiple gaskets to force the bolts to incorrectly line with the exhaust. When heated the manifold then warped and the first bolt broke off. Upon contacting Dodge customer care, they claimed the warranty had expired (basic if 5 yrs or 150,000 km) and since it was now 7yrs with only 120,000km they would not cover repair under warranty. Clearly a manufacturers defect. Customer care inquired why this had not been discovered earlier; their ignorant attitude reflected that they believed customers should check the bolts as often as they checked their oil! such an obvious manufacturer's defect should be covered by Dodge, as it contradicts current vehicle emission regulations.

While at a complete stop, with foot on the brake, there was tremendous amount of power being transferred through the transmission to make the truck surge forward. I had to put both feet on the brake pedal and pull on the steering wheel to stop the vehicle. At one point, sitting at a four way intersection I released the brake pedal and I immediately slid sideways uncontrollably across the intersection. Thankfully there were no other vehicles at the intersection otherwise there would have been a guaranteed collision. Every stoplight or stop sign was like a hole shot with a transbrake.
Runaway acceleration first time on onramp, hit cruise resume, once the speed hit setpoint - throttle went wide open. Second time 7/5/2012 - not on cruise, doing about 65-70 on highway, passing - then throttle went wide open to 90 in next 3-4 seconds. To stop it - shifted to neutral, engine revved to 3500,pulled over and shut down the engine, waited a minute, restarted, then vehicle immediately returned to redline. Shut down, 5 minutes, on restart, got normal idle ~700rpm. Took to Dodge dealer hw hunter in lancaster California on July 9. They kept the vehicle all of the 9th, 10th and half of the 11th. Their ran diagnostics for 2 1/2 days to duplicate. They said they could do nothing else (ran all possible tests). Drove to alaska from California without incident. Now happened again. 7/24/12 in alaska to stop, [xxx] left car in gear and turned off the engine) and slowed with the brakes (eilson afb) after 1 minute off - restart and redlined. After 5 minutes off, restarted and got normal operation. . Read more...
On April 2, 2012 I went to a ranch that I work at, put my truck in park, put the brake on, and opened the gate. I drove through and did the same procedure to go to close the gate. My truck popped out of park, ran through it's parking brake, the door knocked me down and the front tire of my Dodge 3500 ran over both of my legs and my arm. It broke my legs but did not brake my arm. I am still recovering. At first I thought it was my fault until I learned that this happens a lot and people even die as a result of this injury. It is not one particular kind of vehicle either and the attorney's do not want to even address the issue. The reason it happens is because there is no neutral between park and reverse. Also if you had the parking brake attachment in the front brakes as you do on the rear brakes the parking brake would hold when the vehicle rolls backward. My truck rolls without peddle pressure at 6 miles per hour. There is no excuse to not change this requirement, but I am only one person, please help me save lives. In san diego county alone we had in April one death and three injuries. This is unacceptable. I have the idea and I am ase certified mechanic. I do not practice as a mechanic, I am 68 and just could not do the work if I tried especially now. Also I do not intend to seek a provisional patent, I just want the problem fixed. Please help me help all of us throughout the world. This engineering change needs to happen. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

2011 Dodge Ram 3500. Consumer writes in regards to the left tie rod ball stud recall notice. The consumer stated 2 months after owning the vehicle, is when the problems started. The consumer and her husband did not like the way, the vehicle handled and steered. The problem was addressed to the dealer, at which time they were informed it was probably because the truck was a dually and they were not used to driving one and it would take some getting used to. Approximately 2-3 weeks after the visit, the consumer and her husband returned to the dealer to complain about the handling and steering. The dealer performed an alignment. They drove the truck for a few weeks, and they were still unhappy. April 2, 2012, the check engine light illuminated and the vehicle was returned to the dealer. The dealer reprogrammed the ecm. A month after driving the vehicle, the check engine light illuminated again. The dealer replaced the intake manifold heater air temp relay. The dealer then made an adjustment to the steering column. The consumer drove the vehicle for 2 more months, then the tie rod broke on the driver's side . The dealer replaced the outer tie rod end and re-aligned the front end. The consumer continued to complain about the handling and steering. The dealer then discovered the front tires were wearing on the outside front edge. It was determined the check engine light illuminated due to a blocked or incorrect air filter which was replaced and the codes were cleared. The consumers issues with the handling and steering were not resolved. In June of 2013, there was a problem with the steering column, where the consumer was unable to remove the key from the ignition. The transmission shifter was replaced. The consumer stated the tie rod broke for a second time. Chrysler determined after the original factory tie rod broke at 15,000, the replacement tie rod end and alignment were done improperly by the dealer. The improper replacement and alignment caused the front tire wear on the outside and the second tie rod to break.

We purchased a brand new truck from a local savannah, georgia dealer in 2011. My husband was driving down the road and a tree fell on his 9 month old truck with only 12,000 miles on it. He had body damage only but the truck was rendered "totaled out" by the insurance company. We paid off the loan with the insurance pay off and then, after negotiations, we bought the truck back from the insurance company. We then had the repairs completed (again, body repairs only). The truck was inspected and given a "salvaged/rebuilt" title. Now. . . Dodge is refusing us any factory engine/powertrain warranty, but more importantly they are refusing (along with the original local dealer) to repair the safety recalls on the vehicle. There are two recalls: (1) left tie rod end and (2) 2011 djd2 6. 7l ecm flush. We are also to believe that the first most severe safety recall was put out before the truck was even in the crash. We have gotten no where with either Dodge or the dealer through several phone calls and speaking with supervisors. Both Dodge and the dealership are refusing to do any safety recall repairs on our vehicle because they say there is a restriction on our title which prevents them from making any repairs. . .

A vibration occurs when driving at highway speed (above 65 mph) seems to lighten up at 75 mph but does not disappear. The vibration feels to be coming from the rear of the vehicle. Tires were rebalanced and rotated with no cure. New tires were purchased, rotated and rebalanced twice with no cure. I have found several complaints on the internet for this same issue. The following are similar complaints that have posted on websites concerning this vibration. Dodge seems to completely deny all knowledge of this problem. . Read more...

When starting engine and depressing brake pedal moving shift lever to park or drive the engine and transmission lockup. If brake is firmly applied the engine will stall immediately when after staring. If brake is not held firmly the vehicle launches immediately. That what happened the second time it happened and I ran over a car parked on my right side. This has happened at least 25 to 30 times since the first time. The dealership tells me there are know fault codes so their is nothing wrong. Left at the dealer for a week and they could not duplicate the problem. It could happen an hour after parking or it may not happen for 4 to 6 weeks. Very sporadic and unpredictable. It is flat dangerous. It now has 13600 miles on it.
The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Ram 3500. While driving approximately 45 mph the 4 wheel drive low light illuminated on the dashboard. He continued to drive until finally parking the vehicle. Upon restart the light momentarily did not illuminate until he began driving again. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they have replaced the tipm twice, the 4 wheel drive actuator motor, the air conditioning compressor, as well as various wires and computer components. None of the repairs have been able to remedy the failure. The failure and current mileages were 15,000.
The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Ram 3500. The contact stated that there was a noise heard frequently from the front driver¿s side tire area. Additionally, the ger slipped while in park and the vehicle rolled away, crashing into a telephone pole. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. Additionally, the contact received notification of NHTSA campaign id number:13v528000 (steering) but was advised by the dealer that the parts needed to complete the repair were not available. The contact received the notice several years ago. The contact stated after the first recall notice was received, there was an attempt to schedule repairs with two different dealers who could not service the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 105000.
Every time I took it to the dealer, they said there was nothing they could do about the problem. The whole front end felt like it was loose. I could hardly keep it on the road. The dealer test drove it the several times I took it there, but they never fixed anything. I tried to fix it myself because it was a hazard. Finally we got a recall on this exact problem, after I called Chrysler for some help, which they told me they would get in touch with the dealer, but the dealer told me they never got any notice. I have a lot of receipts of all the parts I bought trying to fix the problem. But it still isn't right. I have had this truck for 10 years and love it, but am really getting tired of fixing it. Also the computer has never shifted the transmission correctly, but again the dealer could not find any problem. I sure hope you can buy this vehicle back, or fix everything I have tried to get fixed for years on end.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2003 Dodge Ram 3500. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: 05v462000 (power train), 09e001000 (steering), 13v528000 (steering), and 15v312000 (air bags). The parts to do the repairs were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The contact called the same dealer every time since 2006. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
Piece of crap, loss of power, drive train dont hold up to loads that it states that it could pull, clutch slips when accelerating vehicle.
Tl - the contact owns a 2004 Dodge Ram 3500. The contact stated that since 2005 the failure of the vehicle not being able to go into park has been an issue. The contact received a recall notification and took the vehicle to get repaired, recall:15v-462000 (power train) in 2006. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (naples Dodge Chrysler Jeep service: 6381 airport pulling rd n, naples, FL 34109) where the technician informed the contact that the recall had been repaired once (computer upgrade) and even though this recall had recurred, there was going to be an out of pocket cost. The manufacturer was not notified of this failure. The VIN search revealed 2 recall (air bags) but nothing dealing with the failure previously. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 2,000. Nb.
The contact owns a 2002 Dodge Ram 3500. While traveling approximately 30 mph and making a right turn, the steering wheel failed to respond and would not turn. As a result, the contact crashed into a rock causing the vehicle to flip onto the passenger side. The driver side air bag deployed, but the front passenger side air bag did not. The driver sustained head and back injuries and lacerations to the arms. The front passenger sustained head injuries, cuts, and abrasions to the arm from the glass. Both occupants required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a salvage yard. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and instructed the contact to take the vehicle to an authorized dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was taken to a repair shop authorized by the insurance company, which indicated that the driver side tie rod, the steering mechanism, and the drive train fractured on the driver side. The contact mentioned that the defective parts were repaired six years before the vehicle was included in an unknown manufacturer recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 17,000.
Consumer states he pulled up in his back yard after driving his vehicle, put his vehicle in park cut it off. He then got out of the vehicle walked around to the rear of the truck to open the tail gate and noticed the truck was moving backward. He states he tried to catch it, but was unsuccessful, it knocked him down. He then could do no more than just lie on the ground and watch the vehicle run into his gate. He says this has happened before with his son. He says he is just fortunate that he or his son was standing iin the way of the vehicle when it begin to roll. He states that the park pawl do not engage securely, causing it to just out of park and into reverse. He states he has looked on the internet and there are other complaints of the same nature. He says this incident happened 8/27/04.
I bought this truck new and I believe code e17 is the transmission does not always go into park. It stays in reverse I have had close calls with this problem. It is a real concern. The dam signal horn to alert you is to slow to respond and fails when pulling into a parking spot. Also I lost my serpentine belt which caused braking and steering dangerously difficult this was on a city street. It caused me to drive on the wrong side of the road for quite a distance. Both of these issues I have complained shortly after buying new. Dealer denied problems until recalls.
The vehicle roll backwards when parked on an incline.
I would like to know why there is no mandate for a mechanical interlock to prevent a manual transmission from being shifted into reverse accidentally while driving. In 2003 the Dodge Ram 3500 has a 6 speed manual transmission used with the cummins 5. 9 diesel motor which has no mechanical interlock to prevent being shifted into reverse when trying to shift into 5th gear. This is a very dangerous situation which is endangering owners and others on the road. I would also like to know why a manufacturer is not required to provide head restraint in the rear seats of the 2003 Dodge Ram 3500 quad cab. A passenger in the rear seat are at risk of their head slamming into the rear window which is also endangering many people. My personal information is not needed by you or any one else. The above statements are facts which speak for themself. I know from personal experience that the auto manufacturers do not care the slightest bit about a customers concerns. They lie are arrogant and rude and vindictive. The VIN of my vehicle is not necessary info either because as far as I know all 3500 and 2500 have the same deficincies.

Nut fell off back of fifth gear, damaging the main shaft and causing truck to jump all over the highway. Dodge admits this is a known design defect, yet they will not issue a recall. A horse in the trailer being towed was injured in this incident due to the violent jerks and swerves involved. **dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut over to artemis*762504.

Not sure if this is a safety problem. 90 percent of the times that I attempt to start my vehicle, I have to readjust the gear swift. It appears to have swifted to neutral or drive. I start noticing this in August, 2008.
