Broken tie rod right side passenger loss of steering going over a bump at five mile an hour.
While driving home from work one evening my truck started making the most awful grinding sound coming from the front passenger tire. Then my abs light and serv 4wd light came on the dash. A few seconds later the tucked bobbled and weaved and I could no longer steer it. When I got out to look at the problem the wheel itself was resting on the hub assembly. Previous to this I've had to replace front end parts like crazy. New ball joints and I joints annually. Brakes twice a year, and it will eat up tires on the front. Also the truck will not stay aligned. I've contacted Chrysler and first they were very helpful, but then they started to give me the run around. I've had to have their tie rod end recall fixed several times as well.

My 2008 Dodge Ram 3500 has death wobble in when you barely hit a bump. The only way to stop the shaking is to bring the truck to a complete stop. We have had the tie rod recall fixed. Before the recall the truck did not have this problem, it only occurred after the recall was fixed. The Dodge mechanic stated that the ball joints needed replaced but we got a second opinion and they stated there was nothing wrong with the ball joints on our truck. This has been going on for some time now.

We bought the truck out of state from the Chrysler dealership in bonham TX and they claimed it was a low mileage truck, with no issues. It had been purchased new from them, all services done and then traded-in for a new truck. We asked to have an outside inspector check it out but was unable to locate one from the small town area within the allotted time they wanted us to pick it up. When we went to get the truck, it went for a short text ride and then completed paperwork and rushed out the door. We had assumed that the dealer did a complete overall inspection and repair of any issues with the truck. On our way back to CA the truck water pump had broke causing the serpentine belt to fall off and loose steering almost causing the truck to wreck. We towed it to a repair facility where they fixed the pump and told us that there may also be a transmission issue. So the next day we went to the closest Chrysler dealership to have it checked out. They ok'ed the trans and we purchased an Chrysler warranty (because of the low miles & year) since we had bought it from a dealer (in TX) the truck was eligible for 48k/4 yrs coverage. A few days (2. 4k miles later) the "check engine light" came on. We asked our local dealer to check the truck out to see what other issues it may have. The code was for the cam positioning sensor (covered by the warranty) and the dealer found other items including: needing new brakes all around, 4x drivetrain service, injector flush, air, fuel and oil filters that I have to pay for. The main issue: the front end with a bad steering box, tie rod ends and upper/lower ball joints need to be replaced. The Chrysler rep said it is an pre-existing condition and won't cover the parts/labor. Both the warranty issuing dealership and my local dealership told me they would not have sold the truck in that condition. Are these covered under a recall?.

I am experiencing the 'death wobble' when I hit a bump in the road. Front of vehicle wobbles and shakes dangerously and only stops when I slow down. Happens when driving the vehicle on any street or highway. I read information about steering or tie rods/stabilization being ineffective on 1999-2008 model trucks. Can this be repaired/fixed and will the cost be covered by the manufacturer?.

While traveling on the hiway, when I'm at hiway speeds and I hit a bump in the road the entire front end of the truck shakes and bounces uncontrollably until I slow to around 50 mph. I have had ball joints, tie rods, shocks and steering stabilizer replaced, plus new tires and multiple alignments performed. My master mechanic said non of this will remedy the issue. The y type steering setup is the problem, the dealer told me it needs to be updated to the 09 steering but it's not covered under recall. Yet you can no longer even buy the y steering from the dealer the will only sell you the 09 t style. How is this ok? I do not have $265. 00 to pay for just the parts never mind labor, because the p. O. S. Transmission needed replace "$7500. 00" like every other 47re in the world. Also 3 out of my 6 seat belts no longer retract or they get stuck halfway out and it takes 10 minutes to get it to work. I would like to at least have the steering and seat belts addressed ASAP. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, na.

When I pulled out of an intersection, reached a speed of 25mph, the truck jerked left uncontrollably. Finally stopped wen I hit a ditch, looked, tie rod had came apart.
Hit a bump in the road and truck went into a death wobble. . . Had to come to a complete stop to gain control again. It has happened three more times since then. I found a kit on the internet to strengthen the steering gear box and the tie rods but am about ready to be done with Dodge. I only drive the truck now at 55 or below and won't let anyone ride with me. This is a real and persistent danger to myself and the people on the road with me. I am a fairly strong man (farmer and cattleman) and I could not control the truck. I paid a lot of money for this truck to haul my cattle and the dealer does not acknowledge any problem. Sorry for the anger but if this, and it does, endanger me my family or the other folks on the road I get really mad. Especially when the dealer says there is no problem. . . I'm going back in tomorrow and ask the owner of the dealership to drive it and then tell me that there is no problem. Again, I apologize for the rant but I am a totally disabled vietnam vet and this really pisses me off. . .
There is some kind of front-end vibration or wobble that starts at about 40 mph through 44 mph. I can't detect it above that speed. It can be felt through the steering wheel. I have had the tires balanced and rebalanced. The vibration is not affected, and remains the same. I have read of a recall that addresses front-end steering problems regarding the left-front tie rod ball joint . I can't find if this applies to the condition on my truck, but it may be possible. I just want to go on record that this truck has a vibration condition in the front end that at this time is not diagnosed.
Driving home pulling a trailer the right tie rod broke on the bottom side , stud and ball still in place. We lossed control of the truck crossed over into on coming traffic . Thank god no one was hurt. Dodge has a recall on the draglink and the left tierod end but not the right . This could have cost lives. What can be done.

Driving on highway 101 in a northern direction driving in my lane and upon hitting a pot hole my truck went into a violent shuttering and shaking to the point of losing control of my vehicle pulling to the side of the road and coming to a complete stop in the emergency lane, then starting back up to drive until the next bump to send my truck into a front end shake athon, and violent shaking to the point of no ability to stear truck, this truck has been brought in to dealer 5 times and still it does the same thing after replacing stableizer shock absorber tie rod ends and new front shocks. The violent shaking is still continued on vehicle to this day and any bump on the road can set it off and the shaking will not stop unless I come to a complete stop!!!!.

After having the entire front end and steering to include axels and bearings replaced, once. Tie rods under recall, twice, replaced tie rods on own, twice, all 4 ball joints replaced 3 times, I experienced a violent front end shake on 20 Dec 2014 doing 50-55 mph on the high way. Towed my truck and found the left outer tie rod to be defective yet again! all the numerous front end repairs have taken place between March 2009 - present date as the truck is in the shop yet again for a several hundred dollar repair!.
