1 Wiper problem of the 2008 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 05/23/2019

Driving in rain and wipers went slow like losing voltage or power then just stopped. I had this happen once before but when they seemed sluggish I just had mechanic replace the motor. The motor is less than 2 years old. I read about wiper motor issues but my VIN doesn't seem to be on there. Not sure but hoping it can be added. Will take back to mechanic and see about transverser which are the arms under the cowl that move the wipers per the motor. If still having issue has to be wiper recall due to moisture right? have replaced alternator already due to low voltage so it can't be that. Replaced batteries when I replace alternator. Everything else electrical working just fine.

3 Wiper problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 03/28/2018

Wiper blade electronics will stop intermittently causing loss of visibility especially in severe weather conditions. This has happened numerous times despite use of appropriate DE-icer winter formula wiper fluid, replacement of the wiper motor, and multi-function switch assembly. The problem appears to be overload of the circuit when there is mild to moderate amount of ice on the windshield or when the steering wheel is readjusted downward causing the wiring harness to come loose. This has almost caused major accidents at least 2 and maybe even 3 times due to this issue. The problem occurred when driving straight at slow speed of about 20 mph due to severe weather and I was forced to stop when the wipers would stop working.

4 Wiper problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 04/30/2017

This complaint is for wiper motor sudden failure on a remanufactured part supplied from oreily auto parts. I replace my wiper motor when the originals wiper park function became finicky. I installed the rebuild motor to factory spec and it functioned properly for about 3 months and proceeded to fail in a major rain storm the wipers would be running full speed then just stop and would resume after about 20 seconds this problem only occurred in heavy rainfall on the hi setting. When it first happened my vehicle partially left the roadway because I misjudged the shoulder width from poor visibility. I exchanged the faulty motor at oreilys for another rebuild motor which lasted about 6 months and it also failed in the high setting in heavy rain in this case it went from working just fine to making a large screeching noise on one wipe and it quit completely this unit did not come back to life. I again exchanged it for another rebuilt unit for oreilys and the new unit lasted about a month and also has failed. It will work fine but just stop working at random until you jerk the wiper arms then it will start working again. This unit was returned to oreilys and I purchased a new unit from Dodge. The fact the quality of the parts are so poor it put myself and others in the public at risk due to a high rate of failure from a essential safety component to allow me to see where I am going. The failures occurred on the highways city streets while in motion and at times turning.

13 Wiper problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 01/01/2015

My Dodge has had a problem with the blend doors for quite some time in my truck. It will not go to defrost so when I drive my windshield fogs up and this relates to me having to pull over so that I do not get into an accident. It is a safety issue that needs to be addressed by the manufacturer. They use a plastic piece for the blend door that breaks and wont let the vents open or close. It is ridiculous and cheap part. The prongs are not even matched up you have a 5 prong on the actuator switch that goes into a 3 prong. The friction causes it to break. A dealer will charge the customer upwords of $1200 to fix because they have to pull the whole vent box out. There are numerous Dodge forums that address this issue as well. In order to get the word out to you guys I'am making this complaint. Deaths can happen because of this cheap engineering that needs to be fixed and my truck is 2004. I do not believe Dodge has addressed the issue as of yet they are still using the same cheap parts even thought 1000's of people have complained, but possibly not to you guys.

21 Wiper problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 12/03/2012

The blend door that works the defroster for the windshield is faulty due to poor engineering. In cold weather this could cause serious accidents due to build up of snow and ice on the windshield. Dodge uses cheap parts for the blend door primarily plastic faulty parts. The mechanism that opens and closes the blend door wears out the two pieces that fit together. This causes either the plastic piece to break completely or just continue to rotate without opening or closing the blend door. Dodge will notrecall this because in order to do it right they have to pull the whole ventilation box and heator core out of the vehicle. However they would like to charge customers upwards of $1000-1400 to fix it. Please look into this there are numerous complaints all over the internet about Dodge and their faulty blend doors not working due to poor engineering and cheap parts.

22 Wiper problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 09/19/2012

The wiper stopped working except for a very slow speed when the selector was in the "high" position. After several minutes, this also stopped working. The turn signal began to malfunction at the same time leading me to believe the collumn multifunction switch was at fault. When activating the left turn signal, the right signal would often turn on instead of the left. Auto parts stores informed me that the multifunction switch is not currently available at any price.

24 Wiper problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 08/08/2012

Heater control door failure. 2 occurrences. First (Aug 2012 ) was the a door which did not allow air flow to any vents as it should. Second was a mode control door (12/31/2012), only allowing air to the dash vents, none to the defroster. Potential to restrict visibility in winter conditions due to inability to defrost/melt accumulations on the windshield. This seems to be a fairly prevalent issue on these vehicles.

Wipers on my truck have a mind of their own they work completely random, sometimes not at all, sometimes stop while driving, intermittent sometimes goes full blast. This has been an ongoing issue for years with countless write ups and complaints online but no support from Chrysler. It is a huge safety concern as you can lose visibility when they stop for no reason or dont turn on in heavy rain.

31 Wiper problem of the 2008 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 10/22/2010

While traveling in heavy rain, the wipers started to operate in intermittent mode, even though the switch was set to continues operation. Minutes later, they seemed to quit altogether. Using window wash would get me the normal four swipe function, so I had to continue under this pattern. As I continued, the wiper function would occasionally return to full, or intermittent function without regard to switch position (except off). The next day was dry, and the wipers operated normally, and local dealer could not find a problem. In the next rain, the problem returned after about twenty minutes of use. I returned to the dealer, but rain had stopped, and so did the problem. It has now been about three years of dealing with this issue, and still I get nothing but frustrated shrugs. This problem can arise within minutes of rain, or thirty plus minutes, but does not happen if I run the wipers without rain. I did one experiment when the truck had been parked outdoors and it started to rain. Without moving, I started the wipers and let them run. They operated normally for more then an hour before the problem started, so I belive airflow is getting water some place that is causing the problem. After informing the dealer, they want to do a very expensive trial and error, now that the truck is out of warranty.

32 Wiper problem of the 2005 Dodge Ram 3500

33 Wiper problem of the 2007 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 04/22/2010

The motor suddenly died and the windshield washer started spraying , the windshield wipers started operating and lost power steering. I finally coasted the truck into a vacant lot and stopped. Smoke was boiling from under the hood. I opened the hood and found the fuse box(tipm module) smoking. I rushed to my tool box for tools and at that time the truck motor started cranking and trying to start even with the key out of the ignition. Luckily the truck was not in gear and I finally got all battery cables unhooked from both batteries. Also the horn was honking intermittently as if the theft alarm was activated. As of today (6-9-14) this has happened four (4) times.

35 Wiper problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 02/04/2008

Multiple occurrences of mode door/blend door/ recirculation door failure. Diverts air to floor and will not allow for defrosting/ DE-icing of windshield. Winshield will accumulate ice and cause wipers to cease function or fog without ability to remove or without warning. Chrysler corporation has a "revised blend door" design that addresses this problem, however, retrofit is noty covered by recall and early replacements sis not utilized revised door design. Door for recirculation will fall off and obstruct fan motor. If fan motor is on, obstruction can cause fan overheat and possible electrical fire/ or melting of housing causing smoke and noxious fumes. Mode door failure prohibits use of defrost/ defog of windshiel and can happen without warning.
