The contact owns a 2003 Chrysler Sprinter 2500. On July 29, 2010, the contact received the recall notice, NHTSA campaign id number: 09v418000 - component: engine and engine cooling:exhaust system. This recall was for an issue with corrosion on the intake manifold. When the contact received the recall notice he contacted the dealership in regards to getting the recall remedy performed. At that time the contact was informed that the parts were currently not in stock. The contact called the dealership today, August 27, 2010 and was informed that the parts for the recall would not be in stock until September 23, 2010. The contact feels that the dealership is not handling this recall in a proper manner. The approximate current mileage is 105,000.

Driving on us hwy 2 up stevens pass, washington at 50 mph when engine power began cycling, black smoke came out of exhaust, rapidly lost power and max speed dropped to 30mph with accelerator to floor. Quickly began blocking traffic and had to pull over to let vehicles by. Turned around and headed back home. Took van to dealership and they had to replace turbo resonator (2nd time in 5000 miles).

Consumer writes regarding Chrysler non-compliance with safety recall j32-Dodge Sprinter 03 manifold/egr the consumer stated he spent the past week in repeated unsuccessful efforts to arrange the necessary modifications without having to incur unreasonable expenses. The consumer believed Chrysler was making a deliberate effort to evade the recall by creating hardships and obstacles.
2003 Dodge Sprinter. Consumer states defective intake manifold. Consumer states that a notice from Chrysler regarding arrangements to repair the defect has not been received.
2003 Dodge 2500 Sprinter. Consumer writes in regards to Chrysler safety recall j32 engine intake manifold. The consumer received a recall notice. He made an appointment with the dealership to drop to drop the vehicle off pn December 15, 2010. The consumer was informed the recall was a little difficult and it would take a couple of days, even though according to the recall notice it stated it would take about 8 hours. The consumer stated a couple of days went by, and then the excuses started accompanied by promises. The consumer stated since the writing of this later, the vehicle has been at the dealership for 3 weeks. The dealer informed the consumer the vehicle had other problems and they were having problems starting it. The consumer stated the vehicle was running fine, when he dropped it off. Updated 02/18/11.
