80,000 miles on the transmission. The car would no longer move. Leaving me stranded. Costing $1,500 for a rebuit transmission for a newer car. No reason for a transmission to go out so soon. Also flickering with the dash/interior lights and radio when light are turned on.

2 Automatic Transmission Gear Indicator problem of the 1996 Dodge Stratus

Failure Date: 02/12/1999

While engine was on, foot off the brakes, child who was in the passenger's seat moved the automatic transmission without driver's foot on the brake, causing vehicle to roll back which may have caused an accident. Please provide further information and VIN#.

3 Automatic Transmission Gear Indicator problem of the 1998 Dodge Stratus

Failure Date: 07/14/1998

Gear shift is defective. When moving it there is no need to put foot on the brakes, the vehicle shifts gears anyway. The dealer states that is the way the gear shift should be because of federal standards. Dealer cannot duplicate the problem.
