The contact owns a 2001 Dodge Stratus. While attempting to park the vehicle, the contact placed the vehicle in reverse with the brakes engaged, he noticed that the front end of the vehicle fell while making a clicking noise and would not shift into any gear. He looked inside of the front right wheel and noticed that the control arm and wheel bearing failed without warning. He noticed liquid coming from the wheel bearing housing and two small fragments on the ground. The dealer was contacted and stated that no major repairs had been performed on the vehicle. The contact did not inform the manufacturer nor had the vehicle been repaired or the failure diagnosed. The current and failure mileages were approximately 100,000. The VIN was unavailable. Updated 05/04/11.

I bought my 2002 Dodge Stratus brand new in July 2002 and had to have the left wheel bearing replaced in March of 2003. In February of 2004, I had to get my right wheel bearing replaced. I now have another appointment in March 15,2004 to get my wheel bearings checked again due to needing replaced. If there is a recall on this please notify me at my available mailing or web address. If not I would like this to be filed as a complaint. Thanks.

As of now, we have had to replace all four wheel bearings. Both front bearings were replaced at approx. 51,000 miles; the right rear bearing was replaced at 64,200 miles; the left rear bearing was just replaced at approx. 67,800 miles. Today, we brought the car back in to the dealer with what we suspect is a problem with the right rear bearing again. It is unusual for a car to need one wheel bearing replaced, never mind all four. We feel that these repeated problems are due to a manufacturer defect and that as such, the manufacturer should be responsible for the replacement of the parts. Any info and/or help you can give us would be greatly appreciated.
