Defogger Heater Problems of Ford Contour

While driving the heater blowers failed. The smell of burning wire started to fill the vehicle. The defogger completely failed. Consumer could not see through the windows. However, there were burnt wires under the hood. Please provide any further information. . . . . Replaced starter motor and damaged battery cables.

1999 Ford Contour se - heater blower working only on high mode. Burned out resistor. This was a recalled part for 96-98 Contours. I suspect same problem in 1999 model. Only 22,000 miles. Part replaced by mechanic 8/4/04.

The heater worked intermittently.

The heater was inoperative.

Parts are unavailable to complete recall01v230000 for heater blower resistor due to parts being unavailable. Also , when the heater is on air does not get hot. Please provide further details.

Heater operates intermittent, visual inspection shows wire connector and resistor pack melted. Ford refuses to correct problem under the extended warranty, and Ford motor company does not appear to want to get involved. I now find several other instances of this problem, and have never been notified. My wife drives this car, and this could have caused a fire, since my wife has the grandchildren with her an injury or death could have ocurred. The aggrevation comes from Ford and the dealers with the "so what attitude" about my having to pay for the repairs and then see the warranty company about getting paid, and the fact that they never bothered to tell me about the problem, safety bulletin recalls 99m07 and 99m08. I have to find this out myself? looking through the data, seems Ford has an electrical problem with this car, and are not fixing it, more than one report of dashboard fires, cars blowing up when starting, etc.

No cool air comes from drivers side air conditioning system. Took vehicle to dealer for 3000 mile service, consumer then told dealer of problem with air conditioner. They attempted to correct problem, but were unable to remedy the problem. Head quarters in detroit told dealer to take out the whole front dashboard. They removed the heater er box transfer, still could not remedy the problem.

Heater hose had a leak due to bracket above rubbing into it. Took to dealer & was informed by mechanic it was a design flaw. Had part repaired.

While driving at 55 mph, the heater core blew out, and the consumer lost all power/leaked anti-freeze.
