During deceleration of the Ford cvpi, the vehicle's power steering fails. It makes the police unit very hard to control during routine police vehicle operations such as u-turns, sharp turns, or during any type of situation where the vehicle's speed is quickly slowed, and a turn is initiated.

2 Hydraulic Power Assist Steering System problem of the 2006 Ford Crown Victoria

Failure Date: 05/17/2007

Police track training personnel are reporting momentary power steering loss/lockup when executing hard u-turns with 06/07 production Ford crown vic police interceptions. In addition, we are receiving complaints from the field regarding this same issue. Concern is that this steering defect could result in an accident during normal patrol responses. This defect impacts at least one third of our active patrol fleet (over 175 cars, perhaps as many as 250). We are monitoring what police fleets in arizona are currently doing per the TSB issued by Ford as well as scheduling a meeting with local Ford technician. , who, at our track demonstrated the problem for me on may 17, 2007.

3 Hydraulic Power Assist Steering System problem of the 1997 Ford Crown Victoria

Failure Date: 06/30/2002

Consumer states that the steering wheel is overly sensitive in normal driving condition, may cause an accident, since it has so much power assit it makes changing lanes or other steering condition hazardous. Nlm the vehicle has a steering box ratio of 14 to 1 which was much faster than the desired ratio of 17 to 1 or 18 to 1.
