I bought new a 2007 e350 heavy duty diesel cargo van that developed dangerous driving/handling condition at app 75,000 miles. Never a accident, always properly serviced, freeway driving 90% of the time , load evenly dispersed and under weight for e350. It has floaty, drifty, wandering handling at freeway speeds. Constant condition now. Dealer has had van 4-5 times and in their possession for over 40 days off and on. 3 months pursuing the problem. We have replaced bushings, coil springs, shocks, driving gear box and aligned the van 3 times. Ford tech's involved. 3 months and $3000. 00 expenses incurred, the problem still persists. I dropped the vehicle this week to let the dealer have one more shot to fix the problem or replace the vehicle. My service rep advised me today that the van is driving fine and that it is my imagination that the condition still persists. Argued with me , and informed me they were not going to pursue the problem any further. My Ford service dept/ dealer is now flat out denying that the problem exists. At freeway speeds this vehicle is hard to drive without a white knuckle ride. Rides better because of the new shocks and springs but the floaty, wandering drivability still very present and constant at freeway speeds. There are other NHTSA complaints and bulletins regarding this very problem with my same model van. Unacceptable. Dangerous. Van also had tread separation on every factory tire including the spare at 30,000-45,000. Very dangerous.

the purpose of this letter is to make you aware of what I believe to be a significant safety issue with the 2009 E-350 Ford vans which vpsi provides to massrides participants. Recently the van pool for which I am coordinator was provided a 2009 Ford van in exchange for our van that required service. During the ride to cape cod I noticed a distinct difference in handling from the van we currently have, a 2007 Ford. The van swayed excessively at highway speed and presents a clear danger! this is particularly noticeable when other vehicles pass. I had to slow down to eliminate the swaying!!
this was also noticed by two other drivers of the van on separate occasions; marcy maenpaa and david stanford. Both found the van to be extremely difficult to control and told me that they felt they were unable to drive the van safely and therefore would not drive it in the future. An interesting sidebar is that while parked at north station awaiting two riders, the driver was approached by the driver of an identical van asking if we had handling issues with the van. I believe this issue goes beyond the one van we had but implies it may be a factory defect. Since these vans typically have upwards of 14 passengers, an accident could be life threatening to not only the members of the van pool but also to others on the roadway. All the members of the van pool felt it imperative that we passing our experience along to you considering the risks.

Truck wobbling to the point of almost wrecking. . . Was told it was wheelbearing, rotors, tierod ect. I now realize Ford has a problem with the trucks regarding uncontrollable shaking , it is very scary when this happens. I also owned a 2003 and 2004 had to sell them because the turbo kept blowing off and fuel injectors were clogged. I am so disappointed. I hope if there is a problem you will do something about it. This is not a failure or a malfunction but a complaint about the steering play in the 2008 Ford e350 vans which is a result of the design of the steering.
There has been no crash to date. The complaint is related to the poor driving performance of 2008 Ford f350 12 passenger vans. The steering control is very poor and may cause accidents. There is so much "slop" in the steering that you can feel the vehicle sway back and forth while driving. In some cases, at higher freeway speeds, the van starts to fishtail (like a travel trailer with too much weight in the back). We have asked our local Ford dealership to look at the problem, but, the steering is still bad. I have owned many Ford vehicles and have never encountered this type of problem before.
Excessive sway and dangerous to drive at highway speeds.
Steering is very slow to center after making a turn; at highway speeds will not center.

The contact owns a 2008 Ford E-350. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle began to sway from left to right, making it difficult to remain in the intended lane. The vehicle was diagnosed by the dealer, but was not repaired. The failure mileage was 100. Updated 5/19/08 updated.
Uncontrollable steering wander. Insufficient suspension at and below rated capacity. Constant continual condition. Replaced shock absorbers. Replaced steering gear box. Unsatisfactory condition remains unchanged.
The vehicle was difficult to steer. At a certain speed the steering wheel would shimmy and there was some play in the steering wheel. Ford had the district manager view the situation. However, it was agreed that problem could not be resolved.
