1 Tire Blowout problem of the 2004 Ford E-450

Failure Date: 11/25/2018

I was driving my RV down the freeway when the inside dual blew out on the passenger side of the vehicle. Before the tire blew out I noticed a vibration on the passenger side of the RV. A few moments later the tire blew out and the tread came off completely leaving only the side walls. I do not remember running over any objects in the freeway and had not hit any pot holes. This tire was three years old with less than 5,000 miles on it. I had checked and verified the tire pressure before leaving and ensured that I had inflated the tires to the recommended tire pressure per the vehicles owner manual 80 psi. These tires were the definity dakota lt225/75/16 tire. The tire was replaced by pep boys as I had purchased the hazard warranty.

2 Tire Blowout problem of the 2001 Ford E-450

Failure Date: 08/03/2002

I was driving down i94 in mpls, when the tire blew. I had 3 kids in the RV and a boat behind. Almost lost complete control of vehicle. Was able to steer RV to shoulder of road. The entire tire had been completed demolished. It looks like complete tread separation, similar to other firestone issues. Tire damaged underneath storage compartment of the RV, cost me $200 for emergency roadside repair, approx. $2000 in damage to vehicle, and cost of a new spare (which I haven't bought yet). I was travelling the speed limit, no road issues, no objects - nothing. Tire completing separated with no provocation. I could have been killed, along with my entire family.

5 Tire Blowout problem of the 1999 Ford E-450

Failure Date: 05/04/2002

Firestone denies that the tires were faulty, they claim that I drove the vehicle with underinflated tires. Before I drive this vehicle on the highway I always check the tire pressures and fluids. I replaced all of the firestone tires before one blew out on the front and caused a crash. In 26 years of driving numerous vehicles with various tires I have never experienced anything like these tires that have failed prematurely. I kept the remaining 5 of the tires from this set and am having them tested by someone other than firestone. I find firestones explanation of underinflation impossible to believe since I am the one who has properly maintained this vehicle. Nlm.

7 Tire Blowout problem of the 1997 Ford E-450

Failure Date: 07/13/2001

Had 2 blowouts. 1at 22000mi and 1 at 26000. Threw all the tread on the 1st one tire cool to touch and outside temp 58deg. Looks like tread had never been glued on to carcus. The 2nd tire blew at 55mph outside temp56deg. Looked as if part of the tread was glued. I know of 2 other class c motorhomes who have experienced the same problem. Between the 3 mh we have had 7 blowouts. (dot number: vd1l 1xd tiresize: 225/75/16).

8 Tire Blowout problem of the 2000 Ford E-450

Failure Date: 07/06/2001

2 tires had tread separation, first being at 11,023 miles second at 11300 miles, which caused a tire blowout. He had them taken off. Firestone steeltex radial r4 lt2251/74r16.

9 Tire Blowout problem of the 1999 Ford E-450

These tires are mounted on a 32 foot jayco class c motorhome on a Ford chassis. The first tire to blowout was the left side inside dual tire at 15000 miles. The second tire to blowout was the outside right dual at 17180 miles. This blowout caused $3243. 00 to my motorhome. Air pressure in the tire was 72psi and the temperature was approximately 90 degrees f. My insurance company, state farm mutual, had the tire inspected and determined that a defect caused the thread separation. I am very concerned about our family's safety since there are still five of the orginial seven tire still on our motorhome. Dy.
