Purchased 4 master craft courser lt225/75r16 on 6/30/10 on my 30 ft class c m/h with 18860 miles. So far this year 2014 I have had 3 tires fail with cord separation. The first was on 5/29/14 travelling to nc. The second failure was on 7/25/14 where the tread separated from the tire. The third occurred on 11/21/14 where the entire tread came off the tire just like a recapped tire. I currently have 38000 miles on m/h. It is stored under cover and the tires are covered when in storage. All three failures occurred while driving on highways and was able to pull over safely and without any damage to my vehicle or others.

Bfg commercial t/a tire (215/85 r16) blew out and had total tread separation causing some vehicle damage. Tire was under 5 years old per dot date code, under 15k miles, had good tread, no indication of damage. No known impact with any road debris, blow out occurred while traveling under 55 mph. Very little warning, just slight feeling of misbalance before tire exploded. Tires had been checked for proper inflation 2-3 days before. Tires were visually inspected during travel - no signs of over/under inflation.

On 5/19/2010 I purchased 6 chaparral tires size 2257516 for my 2005 dutchmen class c motorhome on a Ford e450 chassis. While on a vacation trip to the west the 4 rear tires developed blisters. This initiated replacing all 4 of them. We decided to replace the front tires also because of the danger. Of a blow out. The tires had only 7945 miles on them. All this can be documented with receipts. I called the dealer where these tires were purchased and was told this is a road hazard therefore not guaranteed. I maintain this is not a road hazard but defects in the tires. This occurred on 9/11/2013. I contacted 2 companies on line that deal in this tire brand and have had no response. I am contacting you to make you aware of this condition and problem. I would like some sort of compensation from this company. I have asked for compensation but was ignored.

New tires purchased for church bus within the last 2 years. Of the 6 tires on the bus, 4 have experienced tread separation. The latest incident was on 8/10/12. The bus was traveling on I-75 near ocala, FL. Traveling at the posted speed limit of 70, the bus experienced a complete tread separation of the right front tire. The driver was able to safely guide the bus into the emergency lane. No one was killed or injured. A new tire was installed and we have the old tire in our possession. The other 3 tires experienced the same failure but we no longer have those tires.

I have a 2000 chateau motor home built on a Ford e450 chasis which came with oem tires - firestone steeltex 256/75 r16 tires. As of the date of this complaint, the vehicle and ties have approximately 5,500 miles on them. In approximately 2004, I took the vehicle to the firestone complete auto care store located at 655 courthouse road, gulfport, ms 39507 (228. 897. 1423) to get the state safety inspection and to look at unusually cracking in the side walls of the equipment tires. I was given the state safety inspection and told that the cracking in the side walls was normal and there was nothing to worry about. After not driving the vehicle much as we lived in it immediately after hurricane katrina for over a year while we awaited our house to be repaired, I departed in it for an approximately 200 mile trip in response to evacuation for hurricane gustav. Upon the return from our evacuation on sept 2nd, 2008, after driving approximately 150 miles at highway speeds, the outer rear passenger side dully experienced a tread separation where the tread outer tread simply separated from the tire. As I was traveling at a very low speed, the tread did not come completely off the tire but just rather separated from the tire and thus caused it to go flat. This did however cause additional damage to the tire hub-cap. I email firestone/bridgestone the next day via their on line contact form and was contacted the next day. I was asked to take the tire to the local firestone complete auto care (referenced above) to have it inspected. I took the tire their the next day and the store manager stated that he had never seen anything like the failure of this tire at it looked as it was a re-tread. I reminded him that all tires were experiencing similar cracking on the side walls where the tread attaches to the tire. The store manager then said he would replace all 7 tires but after taking the vehicle back to his shop, he has now declined to do so based on advice from firestone.

I have had three tire tread separations for tires I purchased in 2006 for my RV. The tires are cooper srm ii, lt225/75r16. The previous two were rear tires that were replaced. The most recent one happened on a front tire while traveling at highway speeds.
Rear tire inflation label indicates improper psi for gvwr for rear axle. Label indicates 60 psi. I believe correct inflation on recall 05v-272 is 80 psi. This vehicle was not included in that recall according to four winds International and Ford motor company. Vehicle is a four winds siesta motorhome tao015656, VIN based on a Ford E-450 super duty chassis.
Second disintegration of a firestone 225/75/r16e. Caused extensive damage to the compartment housing water pump, water service line, 120v electrical, 3/8" propane copper tubing to stove, water heater, furnace, etc. Motorhome is jayco, class c, new in 1999. Damage to outside paneling as well.
While driving the inside right rear tire exploded. The dealer could not determine the cause of the failure. The tire was replaced by the dealer at no cost.
I have a jayco motorhome on a Ford e450 chassis, original. Tires michelin 225/75 with load factor e. Max load of the tires is 9880lbs, my actual rear axle weight 9270 (static and motorhome empty with no water, fuel tank 1/3 full) according to michelin that is asking for tire failure ( had 2 already) because the dynamic loads (going down the street, bumps - uphill - downhill- sideloads) will be over the tire limit. That's the reason the law requires pass, cars and light trucks to have a 16% reserve capacity; mine is down to about 2%. With full fuel and water tank, little bit of staff loaded for vacation or putting anything on the trailer hitch (boat or even loaded bike rack) I am overweight for the existing tires and max rear axle weight I know that is not an issue Ford has to deal but jayco. But I would very much appreciate your expertise about what to do (is that motorhome a risk to drive , maybe unsafe?) is there any means to increase the max rear axle weight on that e450 chassis? any way I could put on a different tire size (enough room on the rim / wheel-well;that would increase the max tire load about 1000lbs - but is that legal and doable, especially. With the dual tires. I am looking forward to your answer.
Firesstone steeltex r4s.
Tread on rear right side separated while driving the vehicle at 50mph . Firestone steel tex r4s size#lt225/75r16 dot# vd1le38.
The "service" of quick change oil shops to adjust tire pressures on warm/hot tires to recommended (cold) pressures. This results in cold pressures of 4 to 6 psi below recommended pressure if checked properly.

During a period of between 13000 and 16000 miles on these tires I lost 4 out of 7 of the original tires delivered on this vehicle. The blow outs were massive tread seperations. One blow out caused approximately $1200 in damage to my motorhome.
Driving on highway. Right rear outside dual blew out. Appears tread seperated from casing. Loss of control onto dirt shoulder causing damage to motorhome body. 75 miles later, left inside dual blew out, tread seperated. Return trip 6-30-02 right inside dual blew. Less than 11,000 miles on tires. All original tires. Vehicle ourchased new in July of 1999. I have possession of tires.
The driver at the time of the occurrence:[xxx]. He indicated he had been driving for 6 hours on interstate 70 at 65 mph on a hot day in utah. They heard a flopping sound and felt a vibration and apparently pulled over to investigate. None of the 4 people on board were hurt and there was no accident. The tires on the vehicle are firestone steeltex radial r4s. The vehicle is a 29' 2000 winnebago minnie class c motor home on a Ford f-450 chassis. The VIN#: 1fdxe45s9yha13064. The tires on the vehicle are original equipment. Vehicle had approximately 16,500 mile on it. The tires on the vehicle are firestone steeltex radials r4s. The dot#: vd1l 1xd 339. The tire size: lt 225/75r16 m/s. There is a small sticker on the inside of the tire which reads: 6009-483. It was located on the inboard side of the right rear. The owners of the tire still have the tire. The owners contacted a firestone service center in denver. The center indicated it was a tire separation most likely caused by underinflation and a possible overweight condition. The center offered to adjust for mileage and replace the tire. The center indicated one of their tech's would inspect the tire then destroy it or send it to their reseach people for further anaylsis. The owner elected not to give them the tire at that time until the NHTSA was contacted in case they wanted to see the tire themselves. The owners also have pictures of the tire if the NHTSA wants to see them in lieu of physically inspecting the tire. The owners would like to know what if anything the NHTSA would like to do so that the tire can be returned to firestone for a replacement. The owners of the vehicle (tlt inc. ) are the ones who are filling out this form and the ones who should be contacted. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Both of these tires were produced at the decauter IL plant, where the majority of the previously recalled tires were produced. These tires failed at highway speed, fortunately they were of the rear duals and I did not loose control. I know of other people who have experienced this same failure with this exact same tire. All firestorne tires produced at this plant should be closely examined for defects in manufacturing. In 26 years of driving various sizes of vehicles and various tire manufacturers I have never had a single tire fail like these two tires failed. These tires are completely detreaded .
No summary. Dt.
First two blowouts blew out the side, tread stayed with tire. Third blowout was catastrophic, nothing left of the tire. All blowouts were on rear inside tires. Fourth failure was on left front and id'd prior to blowout. Defect was identified by visible shift in tread on about a 20 degree sector of tire.
First time traveling 55-65mph for approximately 100 miles on interstate, motorhome (Ford e450 dual rear axel) started to shake and within a few seconds we heard a loud bang. Pulled over and saw that the right outside rear tire had all of the tread come off. The second time (approximately 10 days later) after driving 60-65mph about 100 to 150 miles of interstate the vehicle started shaking and we immediately pulled over. We found this time that the left inside rear tire had approximately 1/4 of the tread off the tire. We had both tires inspected seperately by tire repair persons and both times each had indicated that the failure was not due to the tire hitting or scraping anything. . (dot number: vd tiresize: lt22575r16).
While driving 60 - 63 mph, I started to feel a vibration. I thought it was because of the road, but a short time later, I heard a loud bang and felt something hit underneath the motorhome. I immediately slowed down and pulled over to the shoulder. I found the rear, inside, passenger side tire was swelled up. The rubber tread was gone. Only the cords were there. I slowly drove a short distance to the exit and into a parking lot, where I jacked up the motorhome, released the pressure from the tire, and proceeded to change the tire. I reported the incident to Ford and they told me to contact firestone directly. I called firestone and was told that series tire was not on recall, and to contact a dealer for prorated replacement. After numerous calls to several dealers, I finally found one that would replace the tire. He calculated the proration by averaging the tread on the rest of the tires. He replaced the original, steeltex r4s 225/75/16 tire with a steeltex r4s ii 225/75/16. (tiresize: 225/75/16).
Both right rear duals blew out. Replaced all 6 tires for family safety. (tiresize: lt22575r16).

Firestone stated the tires were caused by an impact break ,ifind this hard to believe at 4,700 -6,700&7,252 miles I see this as serious and dangerous problem . I hope there will be a recall before someone dies . My motorhome only has 8,000 miles on it now and I have never ran over avything. Thank you, bruce mcallister.
