I recently had three (3) bf goodrich tires (225/75r16e bfg comml) on my RV separate within 1,000 miles of each other. These tires were less than 3 years old - 2 failed with less than 10,000 miles and 1 failed within 11,000 miles of purchase. At the time of the separations we were in rural southern oregon about 1,000 miles from our home in southern California. The first incident occurred in may 2013 when 2 rear tires had separation at the sidewall and tread. At the time of the second incident in July 2013 another tire started separating at the tread. We replaced all 3 tires in oregon at the local tire dealer. At the time of the first separation, I contacted the dealer where I purchased the bf goodrich tires requesting his assistance in submitting a warranty claim. He told me there was nothing he could do until I returned home. I took pictures of all the separated tires inclusive of separation areas and dot numbers. Upon returning home, the dealer said he needed the old tires for warranty claims. It is ridiculous to expect us to carry 3 damaged tires around in our RV until we returned home. This is especially unreasonable when he told me at the time of the first incident that there was nothing I could do at that time - that was when I could have made arrangements to ship the tires somewhere for inspection. I contacted the tire dealer's corporate customer service representative who made many calls to his supplier and bf goodrich. He could get no help for this issue without the old tires and actually was told by a bfg rep that "bfg did not make tires that failed". Needless to say I was astonished to hear such an outrageous claim since 50% of the bfg tires I purchased in March 2011 failed due to separation with less than 12,000 miles and within 28 months of purchase.

The tire developed a "slow leak" at 16,500 miles since installation. The tire dealer removed the tire and found the tire to have a 2-3 inch slice in the outer skin of the sidewall which ran parallel to and closest to the rim (as opposed to the tread). It was very apparent there was total seperation of the outer sidewall from the inner ribbing yet there was only a slow leak of psi.

The contact owns a 2003 Ford e450. The contact stated that all four of his michelin lt 225 75r/16 tires had large cracks in the sidewalls. The tire manufacturer stated that the cracks were due to normal wear and tear. The dot number was unknown. The current mileage is 41,000 and the failure mileage was unknown.

The 1997 tires with 18,000 miles on them have large cracks around the entire sidewall of all 6 tires (motorhome). Now afraid to drive because of all the firestone re-calls. Was wondering if these tires had a re-call (firestone steeltex radial r4s, lt225/75r16 m/s). No "incident" as of yet. . .

We have had at least 5 sidewall blowouts on the rear of our ambulances in the last 9 months. The latest being yesterday. We are using michelen xps radials. Dot fwjhahwx1702. There is 10/32 tread left on the tire. Others have had more some less. This only occurs on the rear of the vehicle. I have e-mailed michelin with this problem but have got no response. Please advise me of remedy. This may be of a safety concern. Thank you.

Dot # was hard to read on the sidewall, so I'm not sure if I got it correct. There wasn't enough room in the block to enter complete tire size; it is lt225/75r16. Catastrophic tire failure (tread separated) on low-mileage, properly-inflated tire. Did significant damage to the underside of my RV. I have a written repair estimate of $2,010. 00, which was prepared by property damage appraisers of albuquereque, nm, 505-242-1531, estimate id # 2080027.

Motorhome tires were regularly maintained and had been checked just 50 miles before blowout occurred and were at correct operating pressure. A slight vibration started just seconds before total tire failure, I started to slow and pull over but not before the tire sidewall came apart and the wheel well walls were severly battered causing a lot of damage to sheilding, wires, and nearly rupturing the gas filler pipe. I'm very fortunate it was a rear dual tire, not a front one.
Experienced tread separation on two tires within 24 hours and 500 miles. 1st incident did not result in blow out,, but 2nd incident did - causing damage to motor home. I have filed claims with st. Farm (claim #255541240) and firestone. I have sent tires to firestone. I have photos of tires and damage to motorhome. I have replaced other 5 tires on motorhome - all steeltex r4s and have kept the tires. I am seeking help in recovering damages and expenses from firestone as I believe these tires to be defective. I have provided winnebago dealer with copy of claim data sent to st. Farm and firestone.

Tire sidewall exploded and separated- I still have both parts and the other 5 tires on the vehicle I have replaced! (dot number: vd111xd349 tiresize: 225-75-16).
Tire has a three inch split in the side wall 1/2 inch from rim. (dot number: vd1l1x1 tiresize: lt22575r16).
This tire had the exact same problem as what is being reported in the news for firestones on Ford suvs - the sidewalls completely separated from the tread. The problem was reported to firestone shortly after the incident - reference number 018525. The tire was sent back to firestone for evaluation, after which they refused to compensate us or admit fault based on their statement the problem was cause by low tire-pressure. After additional requests, firestone paid for our tire and related damage to the vehicle in the amount of $685. 27 with check number 231704, dated 11-300-1999. I called their hotline tonight to note the similarities between my problem and those in the news - Ford vehicle, tread seperating, dot #s starting with vd. I was told they could not help me (I requested replacement of all tires) and was referred to the local service center. I will be taking the vehicle there for inspection. ( dot number: vd111xd119 tire size: 24575r16 ).
