2007 Ford Edge has been shifting gears heavy (especially low) and getting worse. Last week it should have down shifted to 2nd but instead up shifted to like 4 or 5th gear and I lost any real power to get up the hill. The noise itself was a very noticeable bang and shudder. This is apparently happening to other because there's youtube videos of the exact same thing.
The contact owns a 2007 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 20 mph, the vehicle lost power. The contact stated that it felt as if she was driving in neutral. While shifting gears, she heard a loud noise coming for under the hood. In addition, all of the warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact was able to drive the vehicle home and once the vehicle was shut off and restarted, the vehicle resumed normal operation. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the dealer advised that they could not diagnose a failure with the vehicle. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 35,000 and the current mileage was 36,000.
I have a 2007 Ford Edge. I have had brake problems ever since I bought it. By brake problems, I mean they sometimes grind and sometimes feel like I can't stop as well as I should be able to. I had them checked several times and was told they were fine. I finally had them replaced but they still grind at times. I've learned to deal with this problem. I've also experienced a loud roaring noise. I'm not sure what this is but I've also learned to deal with it as well. Everytime someone rides with me they ask what the noise is and tell me it sounds like my car has not shifted into the right gear. The major problem I have dealt with is the jerking transmission. It started this about a year after buying it. It started doing it a few times here and there until it got to where it did it all the time. I had mentioned it when I took my car to get the oil changed but they always told me they didn't find anything wrong. I finally told them they had to do something. They kept it for a few days and finally called and said the valve body needed to be replaced. Luckily it was still under warranty. They replaced it and it was fine up until several months ago. It started the jerking all over again. It started out slow but now does it all the time. I can't afford to have it fixed again as it's not under warranty any longer. It's still only 4 years old and should not be having all of these problems. I am really surprised there have been no recalls as I've read of other people having the same problems. I am very upset as I still owe on this vehicle but really wish I could get rid of it. I have never had so many problems with a vehicle. . . . Even a car I bought that was four years old. . . . . It was a Toyota. . . . Guess I should have never went to a Ford!.
Power train: transmission. I have a Ford Edge built on 01/04/07. Purchased on April 01,2007 about 30 days after that about once a week after sitting all night upon leaving the house the transmission starts out smoothly but as I step on the gas the transmission has a sudden surge and makes a loud 'bang" and down shifts causing a sudden down turn in speed. Then it just goes away and is fine for several days . Lately this occurring more and more(about every four days at the moment. Unusual thing is it only occurs in the morning start up. When I took into the dealer they found a notice put out by Ford stating that cars built in between December 15,2006 and January 10,2007 have a problem of shifting from fouth to first in start up. But Ford states that without the computer noting this one specific code they will not replace the transmission. I am in great fear that if this starts more often in the regular daytime driving I will never know if I can moderately pick up speed anytime or will the car downshift in common traffic and the possibilities of being struck from behind or broadsided. This is a very serious defect that needs immediate attention. When this occurs the noise alone is frightening. Even though you have it in your mind it could happen it always scares you.
