1 Battery Dead problem

Failure Date: 10/21/2018

The on screen door ajar warning shows door open when non exists. This keeps the dome lights from shutting off and can interfear with unlocking or opening other doors with the remote. Sometimes the dome light dome light stays on leaving my battery dead and me stranded.

2 Battery Dead problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2018

Our 2011 Ford Edge, which we bought new from a local dealership, now has an odometer reading of just over17,000 miles. After experiencing the interior lights coming on and remaining on without the switch being used or the doors opene,we noticed that thedrivers door ajar warning came on and the door was actually closed tightly. The interior door locks would engage and release repeatedly while driving. This was the greatest cause of alarm for us because our small great grandchildren often ride with us. Our battery went bad and from what I can determine, this may be the reason. My wife is the principal operator and no longer feels safe in this vehicle with this problem existing. I have contacted fomoco customer service and there is no recourse other than pay the dealership to repair/replace the actuator. I feel that as many problems as have occurred with these parts,a recall should already have been done by Ford. . . This problem has occurred in traffic and also while parked in our drive. Thanks for allowing me this opportunity.

3 Battery Dead problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2017

For months, this has been happening on a daily basis. Passenger side door ajar, randomly unlocking doors/interior & exterior lights flash/ alarm goes off and dash/touch screen goes on/off. Safety issue because interior lights can randomly come on at night. . . Car has to be left unlocked or doors randomly unlock themselves. . And battery dies because lights and alarms go on and off all the time. . . All caused by this issue. Afraid this may cause other issues, possible fire hazard if there is a major electrical issue. Ford will not issue a recall because they say they haven't had enough complaints. They gave me a case # after the fifth month of calling them, only to deny it after I went to the dealership. Frustrated!.

4 Battery Dead problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2016

Door ajar warning light does not go off when all doors are closed. . . The interior dome lights remain on and does not turn off until vehicle is in drive and has moved more than about 250 feet. It is extremely dangerous at night time especially when a lit dome light makes it very difficult to see out of the vehicle. This weekend the battery died as a direct cause of this issue! Ford just issued a recall for 1. 5 million defective vehicles and this year needs to be added ASAP. I refuse to pay for something out of pocket that the manufacture should be held responsible for. . . Please help!.

5 Battery Dead problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2016

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. While driving at an unknown speed, the door ajar warning indicator illuminated and the parking and cabin lights remained illuminated indefinitely. As a result, the battery died. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer where the failure was remedied, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The VIN was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 59,000.

6 Battery Dead problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2016

Takata recall. The driver door ajar light stays on at all times. Will not go off no matter how many times you shut the door, the dome light stays on, runds the battery dead. I have tried every thing including wd 40. I believe it is the sensor but I am not a mechanic so. . . . I have googled this issue and it seems that everyone that owns a Ford Edge has this issue. I can not believe there is not a recall on this issue. My driver door has at times not latched completely. I believe this is a safety issue as I am driving on the freeway and have small children. Ford needs to get their act together and recall this issue for every one that owns a Ford Edge. I have bought Fords for years. This will be my last. This issue is everytime you enter the vehicle. Stationary, driving, freeway, highway, turning. This has been going on for months now. Has been a continuing problem for several months.

7 Battery Dead problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2014

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 60 mph, a burning odor emitted inside of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who stated there was an electrical problem that originated from the fuse box. The failure caused the battery to fail. The battery was replaced on two separate occasions however, the failure persisted. In addition, the rear lift gate failed to release and opened independently. The front driver's side seat belt would not latch securely. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 61,000.

8 Battery Dead problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2014

Door ajar sensor failed causing battery to die. Had to buy new battery and pay $500+ to replace door ajar sensor. The fed opened an investigation on October 3, 2016 to inquire about this widespread issue.

9 Battery Dead problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2014

On the driver's door only, the door ajar notification remains on even after the door is securely shut. The door will not lock with that notification on and the interior lights do not want to go out either. Also, when the car is off and the doors are locked, this, what seems like an electrical shortage, causes the auxiliary lights come on and off and it causes the battery to die over time. This has been the case since the car was purchased in 2012.

10 Battery Dead problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2012

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the passenger and driver side door ajar warning lights illuminated. As a result, the doors failed to latch and the interior lights failed to deactivate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the driver and passenger side door sensors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. On another occasion, the push to start failed to operate without warning. The contact believed that the failure of the door sensors caused the battery to fail. The battery was replaced, but the failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 20,000.

11 Battery Dead problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2011

Twice after backing up and shifting the car from reverse to drive, the car stalled/shut off. The first time it occurred after backing onto a busy street. While pushing on the gas with no forward movement, I saw a message displayed in the dash that the car must be in park to start. I was extremely lucky that in that instance I had enough time to start the vehicle and move prior to traffic reaching me as it occurred on a busy street. The approximate date for the first occurrence was in June of 2011. The second was on July 5, 2011, with approximately 2,450 miles. On November 3, 2011, and November 29, 2011, my cars battery died resulting in needing to call Ford roadside assistance to tow it to the dealer. Prior to that, I twice had a battery saver message displayed after I shut off my car, although everything was off. While at the dealer the second time it happened, the battery died for the third time after approximately 8 hours. The battery test always reported that the battery was okay. After a week at the shop they were still unable to determine the cause. Two times my vehicle would not recognize that I had the key in my possession within the vehicle and therefore would not start. I do not know if all of these issues are possibly interconnected with the computer system.
