Drivers side door ajar warning light is on, even when door is closed. Door locks will not work, dome light stays on. This is a safety hazard when driving at night since reduces night vision as well as allows the doors to be opened by anyone.
Door ajar lights stay on which causes automatic door locks to fail, dome lights to remain on while driving as well as when vehicle is parked and turned off. When driving this causes a safety hazard because anyone can enter the car at a stop sign or light and cause harm to vehicle occupants. Additionally, dome lights stuck on while driving also poses a safety hazard. When vehicle is off and dome lights stay on, this drains the battery as well as fuses. We have had to replace the vehicle battery as well as fuses. We recently had to pay $1144. 40 to have the door latches replaced and were told this is a known issue with Ford. I reached out to Ford customer service and was told they have not issued a recall for this problem. Date and mileage may not be accurate as this issue has been happening for many years, however we finally had no choice but to replace the door latches when my husband's wheelchair was stuck in the back because the fuse had blown and the back hatch door would not open.
This is a follow up complaint as advised by mary at Ford motor company. Ford did issue customer satisfaction program 19n09 refund for the driver side latch, however I had to replace the passenger side latch as well so would like a refund on both latches. The door ajar light remains on with the driver's side door, and now also the rear left door, when the doors are closed causing the interior light to stay on and making the door locks inoperable. The light staying on causes several issues. . . Battery drain and the inability to lock the doors. This happens approximately 90% of the times now. It started around 47,000 miles and continues now at 52,000 miles (with the addition of the rear door doing it also at this point). There are numerous complaints about this on many websites without a permanent fix. . . Even after replacement of parts. Not being able to lock the doors while driving in some areas due to the fact anyone could jump into the car not to mention the doors could be opened by children in the rear of the vehicle.
Door ajar light comes on and stays on and interior lights will not got out and at night time this is a real hazard from being blinded from the lights and you can't turn them off, also the door locks will not set because of this switch and other safety hazard. It happen about 1 month ago and has been a ongoing problem.
The auto door locks will not work properly. Many times the doors will not lock automatically and the driver door ajar light will come on. The inside lights stay on. This should be a safety concern due to the fact that none of the doors will lock and stay locked with children in the back seat.
I enter the vehicle, started the car and door ajar light came on. I opened door and closed several times to get it to go out. Now I just drive it with the light on, dont want to abuse the door. When I park the car the light stays on for a long time. Eventually the dome light, ext. Yellow lights and ext. Rear view mirror down lights will go out. While driving the door locks will not lock. Can be driving for a long time and the locks will finally engage. (hour)concerns are driving through flint with the doors unlocked and a dead battery from interior lights not turning off.
My 2011 Ford Edge with 28,000 miles just dropped out of the three year warranty and the door ajar warning came on after shutting my car door and would not go out. The door was shut, but the sensor still indicated the door was not closed. As a result the auto door lock would not engage and interior lights stayed on. This problem got worse over time and now the door ajar indicator never shuts off. This is a big saftey issue in that the doors do not lock as they should and if the door does happen to be ajar you would never know. I believe there is an existing service bulletin(TSB 14-0011) on this, but it should really be a recall because it appears to be a pretty common problem with many Fords. I guess Ford is waiting for someone to fall out of a moving car and get hurt before they issue a recall. Instead Ford had me pay over 600. 00 to fix the issue just out of warranty.
The door ajar light stays on and interior door locks will not lock. This is not safe when the vehicle is in motion. Ford needs to issue a recall.
The door ajar light stays on and interior door locks will not lock. This is not safe when the vehicle is in motion. Ford needs to issue a recall. I've contacted Ford and they have not provided a response. I have three children under 9 and the doors not locking automatically is a significant safety risk and it has been a know issue for over 4 years and Ford has even issued a service bulletin regarding the problem.
The drivers door the door ajar light , the switch is sticking causing the door ajar light and interior lights to stay on also the door locks will not engage. Saftey issue. Have had to repair or replace this switch twice since 2012 at a cost of ore than 500. 00 dollars. Dealer says they know about the problem but since no recall all they can do is repair or replace over and over again. I know this is a model problem just check.
